A continuation of this thread, which is far too good to just die now that it's reached 1000 comments!

All oldies!

DP worked for these:
Roger Daltrey and Cat Stevens: top blokes
Leo Sayer: not such a top bloke

Mine is Eileen Pollock (Lilo Lil in 'Bread'): really lovely person.

Grantaire · 25/04/2015 21:38

Michael Palin and Eddie Izzard were v nice.

DH has met Alan Titchmarsh a few times and said he was just lovely.

Van Morrison. There are no words to describe his shitty behaviour and nasty attitude. I refuse to even bother trying.

EquinoxEclipse · 25/04/2015 21:53

Just what is it about Van Morrison that is so awful? Nobody ever really says!

Provencalroseparadox · 25/04/2015 21:59

Chocolateyay I know it's my DH but I LOVE that story and ish had happened to me (but I would not have done the whole 'fm' etc

Whitershadeofpale · 25/04/2015 22:09

The worst thing about TVs crisp man rumours is that allegedly the reason it has never been reported is that he gave the press the story about his young son being gravely ill in return for their silence.

FibonacciSeries · 25/04/2015 22:24

Natalie Portman is teeny tiny (I'm twice her size in all directions and I am 5ft tall and a size 10!) and quite unassuming and shy.

storytopper · 25/04/2015 22:28

We were driving along the Main Street of our home town (central Scotland) over 10 years ago when someone in a long raincoat walked out in front of us - nearly ran him over. DH screeched to a halt and was about to roll down the window and shout the customary "Oi! Look where you are going!" When we realised it was Michael Palin.

He gave us the briefest of glances and briefest of waves - don't know if he was acknowledging we recognised him or apologising for stepping out. Sad to read that so many people say he can be quite abrupt and even nasty. Seems like he is quite a private/shy person and book signings are torture for him - but he shouldn't take it out on the people buying his books.

We heard later that he supports a local (to us) sports team - that's why he was in our neighbourhood.

RedCheckedTablecloth · 25/04/2015 22:29

Leonardo Di Caprio - very tall with the most amazing sea green eyes and flawless skin.

Kylie - about the size of a ten year old boy- raucous laugh

storytopper · 25/04/2015 22:39

Oh, and we saw Michelle Collins (East Enders, 2000 Acres of Sky) in a nice but pricey gift shop in South-West Scotland. It was around the time 2000 A of S was being filmed there. She was with a young girl and was talking her way round the merchandise in a loud-parenting, actressy voice. Don't think it was her daughter, though - maybe niece or god-daughter. I felt it was all "hope you have noticed who I am and how much I am buying for this child." Having said that, the little girl probably has good memories - she came out of the shop with loads of presents bought for her.

In the 1970s I worked in Bond Street in London for a couple of years - the rich and famous were always around. Older Mumsnetters will remember Michael Aspel (TV personality of the time) and Sacha Distel (popular French singer). I saw both walking around a few times. Just as handsome as they appeared on TV - also smiley and happy to be recognised.

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 23:08

I know all the details of the crisp loving ones Super Injunction. I can't say for fear of legal action, but a friend was in the court.

It ended in very tragic circumstances.

Frizzcat · 25/04/2015 23:14

catgirl you could, however PM a fellow cat and reveal Wink

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 25/04/2015 23:20

In person, John Major is much taller than you might think, charming, flirtatious and definitely not grey!

Mrs.Thatcher was tiny: I didn't meet her exactly, but as she walked through the lobby of a hotel I was in, everyone sort of flattened themselves against the walls.

My BiL was at school with Ed Balls, and wasn't at all complimentary about him.

Seb Coe is tiny but won my heart at Conference one year by reaching out and taking my hand to help me across some cables or something so I could meet William Hague (who seems pretty much as you would expect: tall and broad Yorkshire).

Theresa May is tall, very hard-working, a little intimidating in a sort-of Head Girl-ish way and always very measured in her speech.

bruffin · 26/04/2015 00:36

Always surprised me how petite Princess Anne is. I expected her to be tall but she is no taller than me at 5'2 and an amazing figure

Crazycatlady27 · 26/04/2015 01:18

Tonight I've met Christian Kane. He was Lyndsey in Angel and Elliot in Leverage.
He is the nicest man on the planet!!!!

Flambola · 26/04/2015 01:42

I've met Alan Rickman and he was very nice, if a bit bemused by a 20 year old woman fangirling over him.

Not for what you'd expect either - Die Hard is my favourite film. I did my best Hans Gruber impression for him. Blush

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 26/04/2015 07:05

That footballer tried it on with my friend while he was married.

Many years before all the rumours came put. Creep

FernieB · 26/04/2015 08:16

Met David Beckham in M&S once years ago - very lovely. Same for Jamie and Louise Rednapp. Literally bumped into James Martin at the Good Food show (few years ago as well) - he was very apologetic even though I think it was my fault.

DH has met Charlton Heston and had a nice chat. Also Hugh Grant and Jeff Goldblum (together) - Jeff offered to get him a drink. He's also met Boris Becker (lovely), and an F1 driver (can't remember which) - very well mannered. DH travels a lot for work and bumps into people at airports. He's also met Ally McCoist who is exactly as he seems on TV.

lucidlady · 26/04/2015 08:16

Catgirl I just found it on Google. That's so sad. Poor thing.

Speaking of super injunctions, a married actor from a very successful period drama had one taken out because he had a rather sordid liaison with a sex worker who had also serviced Ryan Giggs.

Cue a very strange article in the Mail referring to this actor as "the Ryan Giggs of TV drama"!!

BernadetteMatthews · 26/04/2015 11:51

I often see Jo Whiley in Tesco and she's always absolutely lovely.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/04/2015 12:00

nobloomingidea I neeeeeeeeeed to know what Bryan Ferry is like. Tell me he's delicious! I beg you!

sashh · 26/04/2015 12:01

Ohhhh! Him from the Gold Blend ad. Well I know who he is - but blimey - weren't those ads like 25 years ago? Anyway. Now I know. But if I fell over his prostrate arse in the street I probably wouldn't recognise him now!

Am I the only one who remembers him being Frankenfurter?

He was in a David Tennant Dr WHo as well.

Bombinate · 26/04/2015 12:02

Stood beside Michael Portillo at a tube station once. He smelt lovely and very expensive. He let me go first on the train and helped me with my bag. I was most disappointed as a labour supporter!
