It's warm here, I'm sat outside basking in the sun, listening to 90s classics. I've just heard my neighbour complain loudly about the "bloody noise" to her dh. It's not loud at all. So aibu to ignore them and carry on listening to Shania twain, backstreet boys, bwitched etcetc? Grin

As long as you're sure it's not loud...

ResurrectAndEatShitChoc · 06/04/2015 15:37
Grin

Can I come join you?!

It's a sunny afternoon so you play your music and play it with pride

Oh I'd love that so yanbu!

Yarp · 06/04/2015 15:38

I think listening to music in the garden is selfish. I wouldn't do it myself. i think others are likely to disagree, but for me, if you can't take it, don't dish it out - and I would hate my neighbours to be playing Cliff Richard or opera, so in turn, I don't play my Radio 2 or 4.

Mouthfulofquiz · 06/04/2015 15:39

Are you really sure its not loud?? It does annoy me when my neighbours start blaring out the dance music even if it's not mega loud. If it's not your taste in music then it does reduce your neighbour's enjoyment of their garden which is unfair. Why can't you stick some headphones on?

HighwayDragon · 06/04/2015 15:39

Grin course, we're bbqing later too Shock

it's coming out of my tablet, 5 out of 10 volume might turn it up Grin

Yabu

My neighbours make us suffer their music too and it's bloody annoying.

Don't be selfish, use headphones.

Andrewofgg · 06/04/2015 15:40

If your neighbours can hear it in their gardens it's too loud.

ResurrectAndEatShitChoc · 06/04/2015 15:40

How loud is your tablet if they are complaining Grin

No harm done

Autumndays14 · 06/04/2015 15:41

Totally unreasonable, I don't blame your neighbour! It's nothing to do with whether it's their taste or not, it's just really selfish!

33goingon64 · 06/04/2015 15:41

I'd find it incredibly annoying. Fine if it's a one off like a party. People go outside to hear the birds sing - they don't want to hear tinny music like they're in a café.

HamishBamish · 06/04/2015 15:41

YABU. Wear earphones.

Vivacia · 06/04/2015 15:43

We had this in our last house, our neighbours opening the doors and windows and playing their music loudly. It makes for a pretty miserable summer.

gallicgirl · 06/04/2015 15:43

I love to listen to music in the garden but I would hate to think it was impinging on my neighbours' relaxation. If I can hear it more than a few paces away, it's too loud.

My DP on the other hand doesn't think it's a problem as long as it's not late. Personally I would hate to be sitting in the garden listening to my neighbours' music. Just think what a racket there would be if everyone did it.

Hakluyt · 06/04/2015 15:43

There's a new invention - headphones. I highly recommend them.

PossumPoo · 06/04/2015 15:44

London in summer = all the bloody neighbours inflicting their music choices on each other. I fucking hate it! Why can't you stick your ipod in? If it's loud enough your neighbour heard them l think Yabu.

QueenofLouisiana · 06/04/2015 15:45

It's bloody freezing here, I'm drinking tea under a blanket on the sofa.

Send the sun my way and I'll declare YANBU Grin

I think YABU. I can't abide hearing music coming from next door. Ruins a beautiful sunny day for me. I like to hear the birdsong & the wind in the trees.

LaLyra · 06/04/2015 15:46

How long have you had it on for? One of my neighbours listens to music in her garden on a nice day, but never for more than an hour. No issue with that.

Guy opposite. His choice of (shit imo) music all frigging day - issue.

Inflicting your music on other people is rude imo.

HighwayDragon · 06/04/2015 15:46

It's difficult for them not to hear it, we have narrow terrace garden.

Not if you wear earphones it's not.

Yarp · 06/04/2015 15:47

Hearing only the bass or the tinny sound is almost worse than being able to hear it properly, IMO, so even if it's not a 10 speaker stereo, it would irritate me.

I like the sound of birds, and police sirens

ComfortingCwtch · 06/04/2015 15:48

Stop being selfish and put your earphones in. I have my garden doors open and all I can hear is some bird song, that's how it should be. If I wanted to listen to music then I'd put some on.
