It's warm here, I'm sat outside basking in the sun, listening to 90s classics. I've just heard my neighbour complain loudly about the "bloody noise" to her dh. It's not loud at all. So aibu to ignore them and carry on listening to Shania twain, backstreet boys, bwitched etcetc? Grin

It's not an alternative for some people though is it? I need to be able to hear the door, the phone, my son. What if there's a few people round sat in the garden? I suppose we should all wear them and commit to sign language or scribble on bits of paper Grin

ElizabethHoover · 06/04/2015 16:45

lol at 90s classics

SirChenjin · 06/04/2015 16:45

No, just keep the music right down so that you can hear the phone, door, son, etc.

If you were my neighbour you could play all the music you wanted OP, I'm deaf. I can understand someone moaning if it was loud but it's coming out of a tablet FFS.

SirChenjin · 06/04/2015 16:48

How exactly do you know his bollocks swing in the breeze?

I hate it when people play music in their gardens, its rude and intrusive. Why can't you listen on headphones or play it indoors?
Why should neighbours have to listen to your music and have their enjoyment of garden ruined?

Okay then. You suggest earphones, I suggest ear plugs.

My whole streets out, tons of kids in the lane, some people have music on and bbqs going, its like this every year and no one objects, cul de sac, we all get on, got a 80 year old neighbour who i help out with the shop and in winter and sometime's he sits out and watches the kids playing, always buys them easter eggs and selection boxes and doesn't object to me having music on, other neighbour they sat out till 9pm last night with friends and a glass of wine even though i was in the house and could hear them but i know my kids would be out today playing so don't say anything. We did have polish neighbours a few years ago, one of those emploerys rents the house for them, should have been 4 but there was 12 of them in a 3 bed house and that was a nightmare. I don't mind noise as long as its not through the night, these would work hard and come in then drink in the lane til 4am playing foot ball and lighting a BBQ at midnight when they got hungry most weekends, was awful and we all had to complain to the LL who was horrified how many people were living there, my Latvian neighbour arranged getting rid of them with my NDN.

I quite enjoy hearing the distant sound of music and the kids all playing out, makes me feel happy. Mine have got the pool out and im going to order some pizza's

VivaLeBeaver · 06/04/2015 16:59

I hate it, sorry.

I want to sit out in my garden and listen to the birds tweeting.

I can accept a party but otherwise put some headphones on! One of my neighbours constantly has a radio/music on and it really spoils my enjoyment of the garden. Haven't sat outside for years because of this.

grumbleina · 06/04/2015 17:01

I will take Shania Twain over that noise kids make when they're on a trampoline any day or time.

grumbleina · 06/04/2015 17:04

Also this. Music + BBQ smell + maybe an ice cream truck and I come over all golden and 'isn't summer marvellous and all is right in the world.'

ScotsWhaHae · 06/04/2015 17:05

YABU

Bwitched and Shania do not a 90s classic make. If you were my next door neighbour I would make it my mission to show you the light with loud oasis, pulp and stone roses until you saw the error of your ways.

Yanbu though, a bit a music on a nice day is one of lives pleasures.

SirChenjin · 06/04/2015 17:07

You've pulled Derek Grin

AtomicDog · 06/04/2015 17:08

Playing music i.e. live instruments is fine. Shanks Twain though, not OK. A little strumming of old Bowie hits is v nice on a warm summer day drifting over the neighbouring hedge.

tobysmum77 · 06/04/2015 17:09

yabu my unpleasant back neighbours do this, probably deliberately to piss me off. I thought it was just me, glad to find out it isn't. That said the music is better than the bonfires Angry (we live on a modern estate with tiny gardens!)

Stillyummy · 06/04/2015 17:10

YABU. They shouldn't have to listen to what you want.
