It's warm here, I'm sat outside basking in the sun, listening to 90s classics. I've just heard my neighbour complain loudly about the "bloody noise" to her dh. It's not loud at all. So aibu to ignore them and carry on listening to Shania twain, backstreet boys, bwitched etcetc? Grin

It's selfish. We all think we have great taste in music don't we- but its really inconsiderate to inflict our music on others.

TheReluctantGenius · 06/04/2015 16:01

There's some right miseries on here mind...I'm pleased you don't live near me when I'm bbq-ing in the summer Easter Wink

HighwayDragon · 06/04/2015 16:01

Music is off.

They've just started mowing their lawn Hmm

I love to hear a bit of music from neighbours gardens, as long as it's not booming of course. It's just a happy summers on its way kind of sound, like we're all emerging from the long winter of days indoors. I also like the smell of neighbours bbqs.

For me it this wouldn't be worth falling out with ndn over and I'd put some headphones on.

usualsuspect333 · 06/04/2015 16:03

Tell them to turn the lawn mower off, the selfish chavs.

God didn't invent headphones, Nathaniel Baldwin did.

I'd turn your music back on since they won't be able to hear it over the lawnmower.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 06/04/2015 16:04

Volume 5 outside in the garden is fine.

OP , it's your garden and if you want to play it do so.

TheReluctantGenius · 06/04/2015 16:05

You can live near me madgefinn Easter Grin
And you too Op - I love a few 90's tunes!

StillaChocoholic · 06/04/2015 16:06

In fact I think my ndn has music on in the garden at the moment, she's even had a bbq and sent a burger over for my son. What a cow eh.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 06/04/2015 16:07

Next, some of you will be complaining about bbq smell.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 06/04/2015 16:08

Hope you've put it back on OP Easter Smile

Or laughter!

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 06/04/2015 16:10

What's your choice of tune OP ?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/04/2015 16:11

Neither of you is wrong, I'd find it bloody annoying and may say so to DH, but not worth falling out about.

GraysAnalogy · 06/04/2015 16:12

Oh as if you'd sit in the garden with earphones in.

If you want complete silence for one don't live in a terraced house.

Music in the garden isn't stopping anyone from sleeping, or studying or doing work.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 06/04/2015 16:12

I do complain about barbecue smell....
Music in gardens is for detached houses when it's not going to annoy people. Sad, but true. Nothing worse than being forced to listen to someone else's music choices.
It's really just common politeness not to do it.

GraysAnalogy · 06/04/2015 16:15

Don't have a BBQ because someone might complain about the smell, how dare you inflict smells on people.

Don't play music in your own garden, how dare you inflict your music choices on people.

Don't talk in the garden, how dare you inflict your voices and shite conversation on people.

In fact either lay there and do fuck all or go sit in the house. Because obviously garden's aren't to be enjoyed unless in complete sensory block so as not to bother others.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 06/04/2015 16:16

I always listen to music in the garden with headphones. Precisely in case a neighbour is sleeping, or studying.
Like I said, common courtesy if your neighbours are close by. When ours start with their music dp and I always say 'They think they're the only ones in a 2 mile radius'
I just presume most polite people wouldn't do it...

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 06/04/2015 16:17

Are you killjoys also those who despise children playing in their gardens early in the morning?

LL12 · 06/04/2015 16:19

It's very selfish, if they have to complain then it's too loud.
Wear headphones.

grumbleina · 06/04/2015 16:19

Holy shit are we really not supposed to play music anymore?

Hoepfully I live near Derek rather than any of you, round here come a sunny day whoever starts first gets to choose the tunes for the neighbourhood.

Students downstairs are playing some kind of light house. Not entirely to my taste but not unpleasant. There's someone nearby with excellent taste in old soul but it appears they're not in today.

Also, I don't ever play music on a tablet. Why would I when I've got a lovely sounding stereo?
