Poor bastard. This is one of those things that make me feel embarrassed for perfect strangers. Like when you see someone with loo roll stuck to their shoe or their dress tucked into their tights. Embarrassed, but slightly nauseated.

OP, did he send anything other than the pic? I mean, had you previously discussing wet Wednesday afternoons spent in caravans, and he thought "oh, I'll show her what I do to stave off the boredom?"

And is there a mouse on the floor between him and the paint can? Or is it a feather duster? And what are those little coloured bottles lining up the window? Could you compile a list with all our questions and have him answer them??
