Latest leaks on welfare cuts, may just be ideas being posited but still fucking nasty.

OP posts:
MangoJuggler · 27/03/2015 19:05

Jeez they are a right nasty lot

We are all only one missstep away from a life changing injury or illness but of course the politicians don't care, not when they won't have money worries anyway.

soapboxqueen · 27/03/2015 19:07

I just heard this in the radio. So now that I've had to give up work for my ds with asd, am facing the very real prospect of home educating him because the LEA has nowhere suitable for him, they are going to take away the carers allowance and tax his dla. Fantastic Angry

What exactly am I paying taxes for?

expatinscotland · 27/03/2015 19:09

He's a dicksmack dipped in douche dipping sauce.

MrsItsNoworNotatAll · 27/03/2015 19:11

He's a twat.

CunningCat · 27/03/2015 19:11

Grinexpat. Yanbu I fucking hate him! And the rest of themAngry

prh47bridge · 27/03/2015 19:12

These ideas or similar ones come up whoever is in government. That doesn't mean they will be implemented.

NapoleonsNose · 27/03/2015 19:21

He is quite possibly the most odious man and has absolutely zero idea about how anyone who isn't rich lives from day to day. Yep, he can definitely crawl back to the swamp, and while he's at it, take the awful Esther McVey with him too.

Nevercallmehun · 27/03/2015 20:33

Evil arsehole.

Dawndonnaagain · 27/03/2015 20:37

prh47 I did state that it's possible that they were just ideas, however, I don't remember any other government discussing cutting carers allowance from 40% of claimants or cutting disability benefits.

OP posts:
BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 27/03/2015 20:59

Well, IIRC their spending plans involve cutting 12bn from benefits which is proportionally huge, so whatever they do you can bet it's going to be unpleasant, yes.

Still, far better to punish the poor and disabled than tax dodgers or anything, because, trickle down and vast party donations stuff.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 27/03/2015 21:05

Not going to click on the link but under no circumstances are you being unreasonable.

HelenaDove · 27/03/2015 21:21

Ive just seen the same thing on Twitter. Chilling.

pastizzi · 27/03/2015 21:36

Targetting the absolutely most vulnerable in society (even as the vaguest idea) is little short of evil.

All IDS sees is a nice soft target. And he's right. There will hardly be rioting in the streets....

bigbluebus · 27/03/2015 21:37

Can't see how cutting Carers Allowance will save money. Carers will have to give up caring and go back to work/return to full time employment leaving Social Care/NHS to pick up the slack.
I would definitely have to go back to work if I lost my CA as my DS is about to go to University. My DD whom I care for would need to have someone in our house to care for her for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours every night. She needs a fully qualified nurse plus a carer - can't see them getting that for £61.35 per week.

PtolemysNeedle · 27/03/2015 22:07

'Leaked documents' just sounds like pre election scaremongering to me, especially as the accusation has been completely denied.

Tell me what the documents are and give some context to the discussion, and I'd be prepared to listen to it.

Dawndonnaagain · 27/03/2015 22:18

They have quite clearly stated that should they win the election they will be looking to remove a further 12bn from the welfare budget. Initially they wouldn't say how. I have said that this may just be ideas being kicked around, although in my heart I don't believe that due in part to the evidence we already have - people who are dying being harassed, people who cannot afford it having their disability benefits removed, people who are obviously unable to work being told to work, people in the esa support group being sanctioned for non attendance at interviews that they in fact don't have to atttend, the bedroom taxed being applied to those with disabilities when we were told that would not be allowed to happen. Evidence, I'm afraid clearly demonstrates the intent here.

YANBU. Please don't provide primordial slime, its in short supply at the moment, due to the increasing demand Sad

Dawndonnaagain · 28/03/2015 08:11

I usually hide the news from Dh, but I had a bit of extra help last night and dd is at her boyfriend's house so I went to bed early. Ended up being up half the night because he saw this and is in a state. Looks like I'll be giving the crisis team a call today.
Fucking bastards, these are the lives of real people they're playing with.

OP posts:
mrsfuzzy · 28/03/2015 08:20

why get so wound up with this ? who ever gets in generally fucks things up one way or another, do you actually vote ? many people who moan about stuff, but ' don't vote on principal' wtf ? don't vote? carry on being a idiot.

PausingFlatly · 28/03/2015 08:28

They've stated publicly they're planning to cut £12bn from welfare. A further £12bn.

Just where do people think that's going to come from?

Edsgreypatch · 28/03/2015 08:29

But when the Tories promise no VAT rises etc people quickly jump up to accuse them of false promises and lies?

You can't pick and choose what you believe. Until it's set in law, I reserve judgement.

As for caps on benefits to 23 K and CB I 100% agree.

Dawndonnaagain · 28/03/2015 08:32

Yes, of course I vote mrsfuzzy. But if you want to come and discuss your 'why get so wound up about it' attitude with someone who is physically disabled, in constant pain, and due to the pain and drugs has mental health difficulties, do pop round with you pull yourself together attitude, I'm sure it'll work wonders. Angry

OP posts:
Edsgreypatch · 28/03/2015 08:33

They are chasing tax dodgers. Quite aggessively actually and far more so than any Labour Govt. ever has.

12 billion is a drop in the ocean when the annual welfare bill is over 200 billion. It has to be cut - it's utterly and completely unsustainable as it stands.

PausingFlatly · 28/03/2015 08:34

So, where do you think the cuts are going to be, Edsgreypatch? Pensions?

Edsgreypatch · 28/03/2015 08:35

The carer's allowance woudl still be there ( supposing this even went ahead) for those who need it on UC.

I'm not sure how it works though so am I wrong in assuming all carers' get it now regardless of family income?
