Right decision by the BBC. Absolutely dreading collecting my son from school and telling him though...

Other than that one comment I haven't seen anyone excuse his behaviour Confused

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 19:29

Perhaps some people on the Chat thread? Haven't seen anyone bar one, doing it here.

Will they rich? Really?

I strongly suspect they will, and May and Hammond will probably go with him. Make no mistake Clarkson will come out on top.

Costacoffeeplease · 25/03/2015 19:47

Apparently sky and channel 4 have already ruled it out

CelibacyCakeAndFuckThePO · 25/03/2015 19:49

I grew up being completely in love with Ryan Giggs.

I was 14 when I first noticed him.

Fast forward 20+years and he's uncovered as a.cheating, lying, notverynice arsewipe.

I was gutted.

Whether other people understand or not is irrelevant. It made me sad that he wasn't who I thought he was.

So OP, I get where you're coming from.

This is AIBU though, full of people falling over themselves to appear oh so clever and pull every.single.word. of an OP to pieces.

Is all rather yawnsome.

shitebag · 25/03/2015 20:04

Rich as much as I do like Clarkson and I will hold my hands up here and say that his off screen comments have never bothered me, I do think its a not crass to say "he's a winner" and "a legend" given the fact that he's looking at assault charges on a colleague.

I would still watch his shows if it were picked up elsewhere but I won't deny the fact that what he's done this time is a step to far and I do agree that the BBC had their hands tied in this situation because he's been given chance after chance but he continues to feck it up so no he's not a legend. He's an arsewipe to work with.

I'd be surprised if he gets picked up tbh but I hear Netflix are interested.

shitebag · 25/03/2015 20:05

*a bit crass

shitebag · 25/03/2015 20:10

Actually I see he's been picked up elsewhere. Sorry this just appeared on my FB feed and couldn't resist :o

I am really really sick of hearing about One Direction. I don't get the angst about that at all.

LifeOfBriony · 25/03/2015 20:15

Agree with you OP; right decision by the BBC but we as a family will also miss Top Gear.

YANBU for not wanting to upset your 8 year old by giving him news that you know will disappoint him!

SarfEasticatedMumma · 25/03/2015 21:15

Twinkle may I just commend you for fighting your corner in this thread. You posted a light-hearted thread about your car-obsessed DS and everyone gave you battering. I hated Clarkson and the show, but I think you have shown great resilience on this thread. have a gold Star

richthegreatcornholio · 25/03/2015 21:33

No Sarf but I'd vote for him as PM

SarfEasticatedMumma · 25/03/2015 21:42

richthe'great'cornholio

Satsumafairy · 25/03/2015 21:48

Yes, I wondered that Sarf!

Satsumafairy · 25/03/2015 21:49

rich, what exactly is it about today's decision that you think is so ridiculously pc?

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 21:56

Awwww Sarf thank you, that was very sweet.

My children are devastated by JC's behaviour. They are disappointed that their favourite TV presenter has behaved like this. Dd wants to know if Oision Tyron is OK.

Believe or not, many children have a good understanding of the situation. They miss top gear rather than JC.

TwinkieTwinkle · 26/03/2015 07:19

ReallyTired bloody Jeremy Clarkson! He just couldn't behave himself! I actually feel really sorry for the producer. He's been getting abuse online, yet he is totally innocent in this. Even Clarkson admitted it was all unprovoked. Clarkson reported himself. So why anyone thinks it appropriate to send abuse to the guy is beyond me.

Shock at some of the deeply humourless responses to the OP in this thread. Just Shock

Of course YANBU, despite everything i'm a bit sad that he's gone and I've not watched TG in a while. I can see why young boys would be gutted.

hackmum · 26/03/2015 09:00

The one thing I've learnt from this thread is that Top Gear is enjoyed by people with an actual age of eight, not just by those with a mental age of eight.

Christinayangstwistedsister · 26/03/2015 09:01

all we need now is for one of the tellytubbies to enter rehab

TwinkieTwinkle · 26/03/2015 09:07

hackmum I'm assuming you don't actually mean that anyone who watches Top Gear has a mental age of eight. That would be a bit harsh.
