Right decision by the BBC. Absolutely dreading collecting my son from school and telling him though...

dita nothing to apologise for, I think most people got what you actually meant Smile

Oh god I know, I have added more confusion!

Flipchart · 25/03/2015 18:23

"North Yorkshire police have asked to see the BBC's internal report, saying it will be "assessed appropriately and action will be taken... where necessary'

I don't understand this. I thought the police would only look at something like this when someone complains not actively go looking for incidents to work on. Jeez, car theft happened here and all we got was a crime reference number!

I didn't say it was an either/or - I said the giraffe situation was more 'understandable'

I am amazed that young children are watching top gear and therefore even aware of clarkson, especially to the point that they'd be upset about him leaving - that is the part that's baffling

One direction is a band aimed at kids/pre-teens, so yes, again, more 'understandable'

shitebag · 25/03/2015 18:36

All kids like different things, its a pre-watershed show I really don't get the baffling part about children showing an interest in cars.

Christinayangstwistedsister · 25/03/2015 18:38

What is it your dc watch?

shitebag · 25/03/2015 18:39

Also they are allowed to be upset that their favourite presenter or the show structure is changing.

I was gutted when Benny Hill died and I was only 6!

crumpet · 25/03/2015 18:41

TBF, JC leaving Top Gear, or Top Gear being cancelled isn't going to make a big difference. It seems to be on endless loop repeats every time I turn the telly on, and is likely to be so for quite some time to come.

Costacoffeeplease · 25/03/2015 18:47

You're right there crumpet and they're all the same too, you wouldn't know if you'd already seen it or notSmile

they are allowed to be upset I didn't say they weren't, and I'm equally allowed to be gobsmacked

Christinayangstwistedsister · 25/03/2015 18:47

Shitebag

Benny hill, now that was risqué in our time Wink

MaryWestmacott · 25/03/2015 18:49

Lots of shows finish, but normally it's a bit more planned, they wrap up the story lines, they do a final show, it's talked about and you can prepare for it, not a 'see you next week' then just being cancelled.

Crumpet - that did surprise me, on the night they first cancelled a show that was pre-recorded and ready to go, they still showed a repeat of a different TG show on BBC3, in fact they've not cancelled any of the repeated TGs on BBC3, so if they can show pre-recorded shows that have already been shown, why did they decide they couldn't show ones that hadn't been shown yet and didn't contain anything to do with the incident? Or more likely, does noone at the BBC give a shiny shit about what they put on BBC3?!?!

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 18:56

Got a ton recorded on our digibox, will have to make them last.... One's going on right now!

richthegreatcornholio · 25/03/2015 18:58

I think this is an excellent lesson for young boys. You can't hit someone and get away with it, no matter how big and popular you are
Really? Even though other channels will now be fighting each other to employ him and pay him more than BBC? Just shows to me that Clarkson is a winner! The man's a legend!

derxa · 25/03/2015 18:59

What a fucking knob Clarkson is.

shitebag · 25/03/2015 18:59

Slightly off topic but isn't BBC3 going off air in the Autumn this year too?

Will need to watch Dave more :o

Costacoffeeplease · 25/03/2015 19:08

Will they rich? Really?

John4703 · 25/03/2015 19:10

YABU The best news today was that the police are looking at the incident. Punching someone so hard that they need hospital treatment is WRONG. I hope Clarkston makes a Top Jail Cell programme and kids like the son of the OP realise that violence is wrong.

Mrsjayy · 25/03/2015 19:12

Yeah bbc3 is going online (I think) Dave shows TG all day every day folk won't miss him much

Christinayangstwistedsister · 25/03/2015 19:13

Ido t think the ops 8 year old ds was condoning the violence Confused

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 19:13

Oh for goodness sake! What a silly comment! Do you think that because my son watches Top Gear it makes him violent?! Because that is exactly what your post sounds like. Incidentally, he wouldn't hurt a fly. I got a row for killing a spider in the bath last week. He knows violence is wrong, his opinion on it wouldn't alter even if Clarkson had stayed.

OP posts:
shitebag · 25/03/2015 19:15

John I think you need to give "kids like the son of the OP" a bit more credit!

Just because they watch a show with a man who happened to punch someone (off screen) doesn't mean that they think violence is acceptable Confused

shitebag · 25/03/2015 19:16

X-posted with Twinkle and Christina.

MissMarplesBloomers · 25/03/2015 19:21

richthegreatcornholio

Clarkson MAY have been a "Legend" in your eyes, but he physically & verbally assaulted a work colleague & that is not only totally unacceptable its illegal!!

I can't believe the number of people who are excusing him.

Christinayangstwistedsister · 25/03/2015 19:24

Who is excusing him?
