Right decision by the BBC. Absolutely dreading collecting my son from school and telling him though...

Why would you be 'dreading' telling him because he's going to be 'a bit annoyed'? Bit ironic that you are accusing others of overreacting.

As I have pointed out several times, I thought people would realise that I didn't literally mean dread. I also pointed out earlier I perhaps should have put lighthearted in the title.

Oh don't I know it! I'm now worried about how many people have actually LTB because everything is taken so literally... Wink

Oh dear.

So some mums will have the dreadful job of telling their sons a bully was fired, and then tell their daughters that One Direction have split!

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 16:43

No you're not alone sooty I'm genuinely amazed that young children are watching this crap and are so overly invested in it that there would be tears and tantrums - absolutely gobsmacked

I never once said there would be tears and tantrums. My son doesn't do that. I wasn't looking forward to his disappointment. I have now said that several times. You are obviously picking comments that fit with the idea you have in your head. Rest assured, what ever you are imagining is completely wrong.

It's strange the programmes kids watch..my ds, 9, loves master chef and before that Johnathan creek!

shitebag · 25/03/2015 16:44

I was dreading telling my 8yo Top Gear obsessed DS but to be honest his reaction shocked me.

Our conversation went as follows:-

Me: DS I have some bad news (in a jokey manner)
DS: What?
Me: Clarksons been sacked for good so he won't be on Top Gear anymore
DS: Oh well that's a shame maybe he won't say silly things anymore
Me Shock :o

Costacoffeeplease · 25/03/2015 16:44

Yes, absolutely, why on earth would you want kids watching an arse like clarkson and his minions?

ilovesooty · 25/03/2015 16:45

I'm genuinely surprised given Clarkson s previous history of racist comments etc that youngish children are watching at all.

Costacoffeeplease · 25/03/2015 16:45

I didn't say you did Twinkie but it has been said on this thread and the other one that's running on the same subject

NickiFury · 25/03/2015 16:46

Yes, it's been repeatedly stated that some posters are genuinely shocked that some children watch Top Gear. Next!

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 16:47

Yes, absolutely, why on earth would you want kids watching an arse like clarkson and his minions?

Like I said, he likes the cars and the comments go over his head.

Well I'm sorry not to be aware that it's been repeatedly stated,NickiFury
I'm obviously sorry for annoying you but I didn't know. I've been at work all day.

shitebag · 25/03/2015 16:50

In all honesty I love Top Gear, I like the dynamic and humour amongst the presenters.

DS however loves Top Gear purely because they do silly things with fast cars.

DH and DS met Clarkson at Top Gear Live last year and he seemed like a pretty laid back guy apparently. DS refuses to wear his Stig costume now its been signed :o

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 16:50

shitebag good kid you've got there Smile

somewheresomehow · 25/03/2015 16:51

your dreading telling your son a bloke off a crap program has been sacked, how bloody ridiculous.

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 16:51

Wish I had a Stig costume...

ilovesooty · 25/03/2015 16:51

And don't you think that Next! is also a bit bullying and an attempt to shut people up?

Hulababy · 25/03/2015 16:51

Might be disappointment all round at lots of children houses tonight...

No more Top Gear in its current format.
No more One Direction in its current format.

I am sure both will be back in some form in the future though.

TinLizzie · 25/03/2015 16:52

This thread, much like Clarksongate, has been blown out of ALL proportion. Are we all really that bored?

mrsallergy · 25/03/2015 16:52

I do not apologise for not realising that your absolute dread of telling your son that a mysoginistic racist has been fired for assaulting a colleague was clearly lighthearted. My mistake.

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 16:53

your dreading telling your son a bloke off a crap program has been sacked, how bloody ridiculous.

I'm going to assume you haven't bothered to RTFT, or else you'd be aware that the dreading comment has been explained several times. Crap in your opinion, not in my sons or mine. Cheers for your thoughts though!

Wait. What? Wand Erection have split up?! Shock

Looks like my sister will be gutted tonight too.

NickiFury · 25/03/2015 16:54

Not too tired from work to keep putting the boot in and attacking OP's parenting because her kid watches Top Gear along with millions of others.

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 16:55

mrsallergy not to worry, we all make mistakes Smile
