Right decision by the BBC. Absolutely dreading collecting my son from school and telling him though...

One member of One Direction has left, hasn't he? Or has that just been announced and I'm behind the times?

NickiFury · 25/03/2015 16:55

Do I think "Next!" is bullying and an attempt to shut people up?

No, not one bit.

shitebag · 25/03/2015 16:56

Next is a shop surely... Or are they shutting down too?

WAIT

Have 1D actually split? I was just making a throwaway comment earlier about their imminent split! Well now I've got away to cheer my son up from the tantrum and meltdown some people believe he is having!

ilovesooty · 25/03/2015 16:58

Well we'll have to agree to disagree on that then. Where did I say I was, "tired from work"? I simply said that if the point about surprise at children watching TG had been made, I'd missed it.

I'm sure I just saw on Sky News that one member is leaving 1D/has left. But I don't really know much about them to be fair - I just happened to notice because of this thread!

HumphreyCobbler · 25/03/2015 17:00

What a depressing thread. OP, sorry your son is going to be a bit gutted. I don't much like JC either, couldn't care less that he is fired, but I am rather dismayed at how pious many posters on this thread are.

Hulababy · 25/03/2015 17:00

No, One Direction haven't split up, just like - at the moment - Top Gear hasn't split up.

But one member of 1D has left.
And one member of TG has left.

So far....

farewellfigure · 25/03/2015 17:01

Isn't Top Gear a bit... sweary?

hides under the desk for being too old-fashioned, and misses the point

TinLizzie · 25/03/2015 17:01

Am I really behind the times and his leaving was announced ages ago?! Likely Grin

NickiFury · 25/03/2015 17:02

So you didn't read the thread then? Didn't bother to read and assimilate others views? Just piled in with more criticism?

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 17:02

A member has left, so does that mean I was kind of right with my comment about their imminent split? Said literally minutes before it was announced, perhaps I am psychic...

Thank you HumphreyCobbler

TinLizzie · 25/03/2015 17:04

I did think the timing was a little spooky, op. It was literally minutes after you'd said it - and I've had Sky News on all day (for the air crash updates).

SurlyCue · 25/03/2015 17:05

Zayn Malik has left one direction

SurlyCue · 25/03/2015 17:07

And clearly OP had something to do with it. Grin

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 17:09

You got me: I made him so I could cheer my son up with the news and also see what kind of reaction parents will get if their child is upset by it

OP posts:
TinLizzie · 25/03/2015 17:09

Yeah, op. Explain yourself. Grin

elfycat · 25/03/2015 17:10

Oh dear, and now this thread has gone 'woo'.

shitebag · 25/03/2015 17:12

Oh the one that a major American rapper has stated within the past week he would like to work with on his label. Funny that :o

Farewell we have all the bloody DVD's which DS watches everyday occasionally and although there are 1 or 2 "bloody" and "bugger" words chucked in I haven't noticed any other swear words.

ditavonteesed · 25/03/2015 17:14

so in summary, one direction are shit, top gear is shit, nobody likes to upset their dc's. Have I got that right?

My eldest is obsessed with giraffes and I remember the day they killed that baby giraffe I was absolutly dreading having to tell her, as it happened a kid at school did the job for me and I had a sobbing dd to console, I know it's not the same but nobody likes to share news with their kids that will disappoint, upset or distress them.

TwinkieTwinkle · 25/03/2015 17:15

Can I just take a minute to offer my support to anyone dealing with the fallout of today's events.

OP posts:
farewellfigure · 25/03/2015 17:15

Oh OK. I haven't watched it for a while so I shouldn't have commented really. Should also have said that it's a shame children will be upset by JC going, but I guess it's a good life lesson. You thump someone... you take the consequences.

elfycat · 25/03/2015 17:15

'Cock' is one they don't bleep out when JM says it. Mind you he could go as sweary as you like and it would still come across as a mild British understated curse.
