Popular but tacky

Sorry, not really an AIBU and inspired by the Pandora thread so breaking a few MN 'rules'. I found it really interesting to see what people view as tacky. Agreed with some and was surprised by others.

My personal pet hates are those baby on board signs in the back window of many cars (wouldn't mention it in real life as one of my best friends has one), rings that say things like 'Mum' on them and streaky blonde highlights in dark hair.

Completely appreciate that we all have and are entitled to different tastes. Just fascinated by the strong but opposing responses that an innocuous item can cause. The things I've just listed are viewed as useful/beautiful by many other people.

What about those family photo shoots where everyone's larking around with no shoes and socks on!

Oooh I've thought of something that I don't think has been mentioned.

Those bras with the 'invisible' straps. They're not invisible you eejits, we can all see a strap of shiny plastic across your shoulder.

Women who scrape back their hair into tight buns or pony tails, leggings worn as trousers and celeb magazines.

It's just personal preference init.

I don't think most people know the meaning of tacky and think it means things you wouldn't wear it do yourself

Famalam, why do they do these photoshoots? People on spacehoppers? It makes no sense, but others love it..

I love looking at them. That's why Awkward Family Photos is heaven to me.

I love my Joules sweatshirts and body warmers.

That's about my limit though, it can be overbearingly twee. Looks so cute on the dds but it has become a bit of a uniform for the yummy mummy brigade so I try not to overdo it.

If its any consolation I'm a trashy ugg boot wearer - can't part with them, they,re just so bloody comfortable!

The real tack is the photoshoots insecure girls get done of themselves and then post all over Facebook
The worst ones are "boudoir" style shoots where I was subjected to an ex colleague posing in a corset and pants... surely that isn't Facebook appropriate? Tonnes of "omg you are so gorgeous" comments followed which I guess was the idea

Are Superdry supposed to be trendy then? I have only ever seen middle aged dads in them. With white trainers and jeans. Naff.

Any item of clothing with a massive brand name on it really.

My dh cant find any clothes in superdry that fits, its for very skinny men / women ( i dont go in there either) what i have seen looks overpriced.

I didn't realise sketchers were back in! I used to wear them in the 90's.

Just had a look through their women's collection and the only ones I'd put anywhere near my feet are the ones that look almost exactly like converse!

Think I'll stick with my converse as everyone other women I know wears them so it can't be that ridiculous to be wearing them at my age.
