to fear discontinuation of my favourite foods?

It all started with Ramen from Waitrose. It was delicious, DH & I loved it. Then it was discontinued. Then the chili and kidney bean soup (which admittedly sounds foul but did taste divine) - GONE. Tesco, what happened to chewable Rennie?! Then the Thai fishcakes. Tasty dishes, tragically abandoned by the heartless grocers.

The last straw was 2014's horrific re-formulation of M&S's tzatziki. Anyway, I am now living in dread regarding the M&S Hot and Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup. It is oh so good. Medicine in a food carton but in a delicious, whole-tub-to-myself, chilli-tingle way. They're gonna pull it, aren't they?

Dolmio creamy mushroom pasta sauce.

Thousands of other pasta sauces in variations of tomato, how many creamy ones which aren't cheese? None.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 13/03/2015 08:30

Waitrose used to make an enormous orange cookie, with pieces of orange peel surrounded by golden syrupy crunchy/chewiness.

Vanished.

Um...Waitrose sells a cheese and celery sandwich if you'd like to give it a try...?

Celticlass2 · 13/03/2015 09:15

This happens all the time, and M&S are the worst for it. Every time I go in there, I expect some of my favourite foods to have dissapeared!
My favourite fishcakes have gone from Aldi. I've been looking for them for the last few weeks in a few different stores, but no joy. I'm guttedSad

Celticlass2 · 13/03/2015 09:17

Agree with whoever said that M&S veggie range is terrible. I can't believe how little they have (if any ) in the Asian section.

Also, really annoying that the Veggie Moussaka which is delish, is never in the dine in for £10, but the meat one isAngry
Why??

Florin · 13/03/2015 09:31

M&S spicy chicken noodle soup is pure heaven in a bowl. There is no way they will discontinue it the amount I eat! Had to be a whole pot though!
Jamie Oliver fish fingers are available on Ocado, I ordered some about a month ago, they are yummy.

annielouise · 13/03/2015 09:31

Walkers Japanese Beef Teriyaki crackers.

Cadbury's Apricot Crumble Crunch.

BaldricksWife · 13/03/2015 09:42

I am still in mourning after the passing of the black chewy Victory V- utterly addictive and probably whay it has gone!

Fudgeface123 · 13/03/2015 09:49

M&S low fat natural yogurt with a pot of granola and raisins. Was amazing and good on my WW diet Sad

Selks · 13/03/2015 09:50

Garlic mushroom pizzas, used to be made by both Tesco and Sainsburys I think. Never see them now.

Bit gutted to hear that you can't get cheese hula hoops any more!

Plarail123 · 13/03/2015 09:53

Try moving abroad where there are NONE of these delicious things. SOBS!

ShoeShooChoux · 13/03/2015 09:57

Mine's a drink. It was a coffee which came in kind of double ended liquid-filled pods. You had to press the pods one after the other before opening and pouring. Lovely frothy sweet coffee.

I knew they were on their way it when i could only find them in Poundland.

I'm a non-coffee drinker normally but i did love that coffee.

And the M&S cheese and celery sandwich!

momb · 13/03/2015 09:59

Tesco still do the cauli cheese burgers people! Panic ye not.
They just made them oval and called them 'cauliflower cheese grills', but the middle is just the same.

Nydj · 13/03/2015 10:02

Last year, Sainsburys sold a veggie Eric sweets that was like m&s veggie Percy pigs but less cloying. Not available any more.

BuntyBoogaloo · 13/03/2015 10:03

CliveCussler Raisin Bran muffins! Loved them! By VitBe I think. They were bloody fab.

casperandjasper · 13/03/2015 10:13

Appin,
They've discontinued the goats cheese tart at Aldi? I loved it for a quick meal so am really annoyed. Why do they do this? - it was yummy.
I'm not shopping there again (cuts off nose to spite face) that'll teach them!

Sad

This post has clearly hit a nerve with a lot of people!

I just discovered yesterday that Sainsbury's stopped selling Finz (small, fish-shaped cheesy crackers that are called Goldfish in the US), that my boys love. Lots of wailing and knashing of teeth last night as a result Sad

M&S used to do a chocolate bar that I loved. It was a bit like a toffee crisp, but much nicer chocolate. It had a blue wrapper and I still think of it wistfully.

I also loved M&S seedy rolls with egg mayo, prawn and iceberg lettuce. They were utterly delish and one of my fave work lunches. Also discontinued.

juneau · 13/03/2015 10:15

Oh and Pret Florentines. They were soooo good! Not too sickly sweet like most others. Gone!

Provencalroseparadox · 13/03/2015 10:24

The Cadbury's Snowflake was amazing but never recovered from the Anthea Turner/Grant Bovey debacle.

I used to love King Kong lollies when I was a kid. Banana ice-cream with this amazing gooey toffee sauce inside. I mourn them pretty regularly.

Dawndonnaagain · 13/03/2015 10:28

Many moons ago sainsburys did a cream cheese with horseradish. I still miss it.

Provencalroseparadox · 13/03/2015 10:37

Coop used to do a smoked salmon pate with horseradish until very recently. Very annoyed when it disappeared.

ScaryMaryHinge · 13/03/2015 10:40

Gosh, M&S really are bastards for discontinuing things. I think it's been mourned on these boards before, but I still miss M&S parsnip and gruyere bake, I think it was meant to be a side dish but I used to eat a whole portion for dinner.

DH is in mourning for the long lost Sarah Lee frozen pecan Danish. Every time we go to an Iceland he forlornly searches the dessert freezers in the hope of finding one.

Provencalroseparadox · 13/03/2015 10:46

I was mourning Arctic Roll for a number of years but then they miraculously came back!

Theoretician · 13/03/2015 10:49

Tesco used to do a lovely really thin base rectangular pizza with mascarpone on it... years ago... still think of it wistfully, never found a similar one

I think Waitrose do thin pizzas with mascarpone.
