to fear discontinuation of my favourite foods?

It all started with Ramen from Waitrose. It was delicious, DH & I loved it. Then it was discontinued. Then the chili and kidney bean soup (which admittedly sounds foul but did taste divine) - GONE. Tesco, what happened to chewable Rennie?! Then the Thai fishcakes. Tasty dishes, tragically abandoned by the heartless grocers.

The last straw was 2014's horrific re-formulation of M&S's tzatziki. Anyway, I am now living in dread regarding the M&S Hot and Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup. It is oh so good. Medicine in a food carton but in a delicious, whole-tub-to-myself, chilli-tingle way. They're gonna pull it, aren't they?

Let's head off this trauma. I'll do a swap - you buy the Hot & Spicy Noodle soup and I'll buy your To Be Discontinued product. What do I need to know about?

Sainsburys used to do this vegetarian bolognese in a tin made from soya.

Ooh Sainsbury's mushroom pate! Don't they do it anymore? ShockWill they ever bring out full size Taste the Difference Belgian chocolate hot cross buns again? I have to eat about 20 mini ones. Sad

Tesco used to do breaded turkey burgers with cheese inside the bread crumbs. They were amazing but I think they were discontinued because the cheese became scalding and burnt some people's mouths Confused I still miss them, even though it must be around 20 years since they disappeared!

M&S pesto pasta salad with spinach tomatoes and parmesan. Discontinued about 6 months ago. It was my thing to have for lunch at work when I didn't know what I wanted for lunch. So I used to have it quite a lot. I still look forlornly at the place on the shelf where it used to live (which is now taken up by the not at all as nice tomato and basil chicken pasta salad). I'm sure it was quite popular as well....why M&S, whyyyyyyy???

They took out the beautiful gooey, woody emmental cheese and replaced it with bastarding chedder ffs.

25 years ago as an impoverished immigrant I LIVED on chicken curry Pot Rice. It's been gone for a long long time but I still think of it wistfully

Littlewoods strawberry snowballs. I still miss those, they were divine.

M&S cheese and celery sandwiches were the best.

Haggen Dazs used to do an amazing raspberry sorbet. Now I've had plenty of other sorbets since which have been nice,but not as good. I'm still upset over it (it's been years). I also miss the donuts from macdonalds with chocolate on. I never eat fast food and it was one of my only vices,they will never be forgiven!

M&S used to do a pack of microwave garlic spaghetti was amazing with just a but if Parmesan on top.

It seems we need to start a campaign to bring back the M&S cheese and celery sandwich, I never realised there were so many fans out there I thought it was just me!

I am currently mourning the goats cheese and caramelised onion tart from the Specially Selected range at aldi. Gutted it's gone.

And M&S butternut squash pate type thing, that was amazing.

So, so many M&S vegetarian dishes from the late 80s and 90s. I remember the flan mentioned upthread very well. YANBU to fear discontinuation, OP. They lure us in then take away our lovely food without warning. That's the cruel part.

M&S are dreadful for doing this, they are always chopping fab lines.

The main ones I miss are
a yoghurt and sour cream carton that had a thick layer of black cherries in sauce at the bottom,

a Scottish salmon pate decorated with a slice of hot smoked salmon on the top,
a low calorie meal of wild rice with creamy beef and mushroom Stroganoff

They wonder why their profits are falling, it's because they ignore their customer base.

A drink rather than a food...

Bottle green strawberry(&elderflower?) cordial....they replaced it with bloody pomegranet!! flavour insteadHmm. bastards.

Mc dougalls peppered steak pies, gutted, haven't seen them in about 2 years, if anyone knows if they still exsist please let me know Wink
