to fear discontinuation of my favourite foods?

It all started with Ramen from Waitrose. It was delicious, DH & I loved it. Then it was discontinued. Then the chili and kidney bean soup (which admittedly sounds foul but did taste divine) - GONE. Tesco, what happened to chewable Rennie?! Then the Thai fishcakes. Tasty dishes, tragically abandoned by the heartless grocers.

The last straw was 2014's horrific re-formulation of M&S's tzatziki. Anyway, I am now living in dread regarding the M&S Hot and Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup. It is oh so good. Medicine in a food carton but in a delicious, whole-tub-to-myself, chilli-tingle way. They're gonna pull it, aren't they?

Was that ham and cheese kiev frozen? They only discontinued it a short while ago, and it was such a good freezer standby for those nights when anything is too much effort but you still want something hot and tasty.

I keep looking for it forlornly.

Mushroom and Wine pasta n sauce was amazing! I loved that. I also used to love this 'mexican lasagne' tesco did, in fact around 11/12 they did an amazing mexican range but they did away with it and changed the things they brought back, bastards.

Allalonenow - the one I liked wasn't frozen, so I don't know about any other varieties! It's soooo annoying though when your favourite or easy foods vanish off the shelves!

gaggiagirl · 22/03/2015 10:12

mela morrisons do a fresh version of that Kiev.

Feminine · 22/03/2015 16:43

Lemon puffs? mel

Sainsbury used to stock them. Have you tried there?

AlmaMartyr · 22/03/2015 18:23

SooBee - thank you! So pleased to hear that I can get them somewhere!

notsmartenough · 22/03/2015 20:22

M&S used to do a meal of sliced potato (cheese?) sauce and ham, I think it was called Suffolk hotpot.
Also beef and pickle pies (like pork pies only edible).
And chunky chicken in gravy - haven't seen that for a while. I used to make a stew with it and pretend I could cook.

Cadbury's Aztec bars (similar to, but better than Mars).
They also made a very thin crispy chocolate biscuit, don't know what they were called but they were lovely.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/03/2015 07:06

Sainsburys do that Suffolk hotpot but it's called Wiltshire gratin or similar.

notsmartenough · 23/03/2015 10:23

I'll try Sainsbury's thanks - at the moment I make do with Aldi potato gratin and add some cooked ham/grated cheese. Very nice (and cheap).

Salmon fish fingers, my boys only eat breaded fish and to have salmon aka breaded pink fish fingers was a bonus

Not exactly a food, but my Mum is mourning the loss - of Dylon starch that you put in the washing machine. You can get another one in Lakeland but apparently it smells horrid. It has been removed from the Dylon website and nowhere stocks it now.

Gatekeeper · 25/03/2015 20:05

Buxtonstill

this is supposed to work just as well as dylon but works out much cheaper

Buxtonstill · 25/03/2015 22:32

Thanks for that - I will show it to her.

Gatekeeper · 26/03/2015 06:42

I use the one from Boots; nearly at the end of the box so hope they still sell it

TheTigersComeAtNight · 26/03/2015 06:51
