to fear discontinuation of my favourite foods?

It all started with Ramen from Waitrose. It was delicious, DH & I loved it. Then it was discontinued. Then the chili and kidney bean soup (which admittedly sounds foul but did taste divine) - GONE. Tesco, what happened to chewable Rennie?! Then the Thai fishcakes. Tasty dishes, tragically abandoned by the heartless grocers.

The last straw was 2014's horrific re-formulation of M&S's tzatziki. Anyway, I am now living in dread regarding the M&S Hot and Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup. It is oh so good. Medicine in a food carton but in a delicious, whole-tub-to-myself, chilli-tingle way. They're gonna pull it, aren't they?

I used to make my own version of that M&S broccoli bake, Revenant. Still do, after a fashion, but it's been subject to various subtle adaptations and now it scarcely counts as the same thing. I've also recently been recreating the veggie Cumberland Pie mentioned upthread, and I have to say my version is much tastier (not to mention three times the size). But that's not really the point when you just want something nice you can shove in the oven.

I knew what a Feastwich was, but I don't remember ever eating one.

Sparklepup · 14/03/2015 14:08

M&S are buggers for doing this. Years ago they had a dish which was chicken in tomato sauce, topped with garlic bread and cheese - was delicious and made many a tasty tea. Also they discontinued the cheese and potato crochets - the plain potato ones have been a disappointment ever since

SunsetSongster · 14/03/2015 14:10

I still miss sainsbury's chocolate donuts which are discontinued around 2009. They were a chocolate donut with a really delicious chocolate filling. I even wrote to them at the time I was so sad!

They do sell their own brand of chocolate rich tea biscuits though.

Also - Cremola Foam!

Ev1lEdna · 14/03/2015 14:39

More M&S sandwiches - about 15 years ago they made a tuna melt sandwich with a soft cheesy topping. I still look out in case they bring it back.

I loved this, when my eldest was a newborn (10 years ago) these were my go to convenience food. I remember the roast beef one too! Smile. I wish they would do tomato and mozzarella sandwiches all year round too

Also Marks brioche chocolate bread and butter pudding and their pesto mash. I also miss cheese and tomato pot noodles - the only ones I ever liked.

Feminine · 14/03/2015 15:28

sunset you can still get the creamola foam.
On line.
I *think it might have been eBay even?

Feminine · 14/03/2015 15:29

Raspberry ruffles def in pound shops

Gatekeeper · 14/03/2015 15:51

M&S used to do a mini lemon cheese cakes with a crushed ginger biscuit base and swirls of lemon zest on top. I could eat a whole box of them

BreconBeBuggered · 14/03/2015 15:54

Gatekeeper, I can taste them now, and I need some. BASTARDS.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 14/03/2015 15:56

Muller corner Mississippi mud pie yoghurt.
And yes to the Secret bar! It's always brought up on these threads, I'm glad it's not just me.
Oh and cheese Snack a jacks, you would think they'd be the most popular flavour?!

AlfieandAnnieRose · 14/03/2015 15:57

And Green n blacks biscuits they introduced one Xmas and never again. They were in a long tube, Pringles style.

ginsoakedgirl · 14/03/2015 16:15

That bright green coleslaw type stuff that you could get at the deli counter in the supermarket, can't even remember what they called it. It was probably toxic, hence the colour, but man it tasted good....

Galvanized · 14/03/2015 16:15

Quorn pate. Lovely on baguettes. Gone.

RandomNPC · 14/03/2015 16:23

I think that was just manky Coleslaw, ginsoakedgirl

Whitewhine · 14/03/2015 16:25

Coconut Boosts
Topper Bars
Gypsy Creams (the Aldi ones are poor fayre)
M&S chicken tikka - chicken pieces were raw, had to be cooked for around 45mins
Jordan's banana breakfast bars

007JamesBond · 14/03/2015 16:26

M&S (again) used do a chicken dish which was a raw chicken breast which you cooked and added a packet of tangy, creamy tomato sauce. It was heaven and DH won my heart when he served it to me in the early days of our courtship!

Another vote for the M&S chicken noodle soup - winner of Substance Most Likely To Cure Every Illness Known To Man. It is utterly delicious.

I am currently stockpiling Le Conserve Della Nonna Dairy free pesto as it is a) dairy free and b) nicer than normal pesto. I know it will be discontinued in about half an hour. I must have about 10 pots of it in the cupboard.

I'm also slightly nostalgic about St Ivel Gold spread. I bet the memory of it is probably better than the reality but I'd like to try it again just to check!!

Baddz · 14/03/2015 16:28

Marks did a summer veg quiche...with no cheese.
Bloody lovely.
Discontinued.
Fuckers.

yellowtaxi · 14/03/2015 16:42

I'm still mourning the loss of Galaxy truffle celebrations Sad Twix is such a poor substitute.

Dinnerfor1 · 14/03/2015 18:45

I loved Tesco's smoked salmon taramasalata and haven't seen it in ages. I think its gone Sad If anyone knows of anything similar anywhere please let me know!

Also m&s (I'm noticing a theme on this thread!) did a lovely trio of chicken wraps, which I haven't spotted in a while. Whenever I was getting a train or stopping at a service station I so looked forward to those for my lunch!

Dinnerfor1 · 14/03/2015 18:46

Galaxy truffle celebrations have been replaced by twix?! That's a scandal! It was always a race to see how many Galaxy truffles you could get before they'd all gone!

Rivercam · 14/03/2015 19:00

As a child, I loved Rise and Shine (powdered fruit juice drink)

French Fancies and Wagon Wheels used to be larger

sofatastic · 14/03/2015 19:54

Pret a manger open sandwiches on pumpernickel. I still mourn their loss.

sofatastic · 14/03/2015 19:55

Also need to revisit Iceland just for the Skyr.

gaggiagirl · 14/03/2015 20:11

Walkers lamb and mint crisps.
Tom Toms, like mini kievs but with tomato sauce in them.
Birdseye frozen pasta and meatballs in a big bag.
