He likes it savoury, with beans and maybe a bit of bacon.

Now OK I will allow that bacon goes with everything but I like mine like the americans have it, with a sprinkle of cinnamon, maple syrup and a dash of cream.

Also I am cooking it so it comes how I serve it!

I am right and he is wrong, right? Grin

TheRealAmandaClarke · 01/03/2015 20:43

If i had some right now it would be savoury
But never, ever with beans.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 01/03/2015 20:44

Am confused how some of you make your eggy bread as all i do is crack an egg, beat it, dip bread both sides and fry

Bit of salt and brown sauce once cooked

Voila

OinkBalloon · 01/03/2015 20:44

Eggy bread, like pancakes and crumpets, is one of those awesome foods that can be anything. Sweet, savoury, or even both at the same time.

So you are all right. Grin

(Even though I prefer it sweet)

(And except for the brown saucers. You just deluded. Yuck yuck yuck. Come back, there is yet time to return to the bright side.))

angelopal · 01/03/2015 20:44

Got to be savoury

ARoomWithoutAView · 01/03/2015 20:49

LTB. You are just not compatible.

FenellaFellorick · 01/03/2015 20:50

Am I? whisk some eggs, slap some bread both sides down in the eggs and chuck it into a frying pan.

Is there a nack to it?

I am willing to experiment in the interests of, erm, interests of, ok I can't currently come up with a plausible excuse for why I need to find new unhealthy treats Grin but let's pretend I did and it was a magnificent one.

OhMjh · 01/03/2015 20:52

We go bacon & golden syrup here..it's incredible and I highly recommend it.

chicaguapa · 01/03/2015 20:52

I have both. The first slice or three is with salt and I save the last one(s) to eat with caster sugar.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 01/03/2015 20:55

A sprinkling of salt and lots of cucumber.

Rainicorn · 01/03/2015 20:59

Eggy bread should only be served one way, with a big dollop of brown sauce on it. Any other way is just wrong.

MrsC2810 · 01/03/2015 21:03

Maple syrup or jam here.

gamerchick · 01/03/2015 21:04

It's savory man. Would you chuck sweet stuff all over scrambled egg on toast? Hmm

gamerchick · 01/03/2015 21:05

*savoury

WhatABaklava · 01/03/2015 21:12

Soy sauce. Fucking amazing.

ilovemargaretatwood8931 · 01/03/2015 21:12

God, I am desperate for some now!

And, have only ever had it savoury, with bacon (back in meat eating days), tomatoes or beans and definitely brown sauce.

But now I need to try it sweet, as a matter of urgency!

I think it'd be best to have both kinds- you're both right!

PurpleSwift · 01/03/2015 21:13

Oh I like it with salt! Savoury here.

RabidFairy · 01/03/2015 21:17

I would call his version Eggy Bread and your version French Toast, or some variation of French Toast. IMO different meals entirely.
I'd prefer it his way.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand now I want some eggy bread Hmm

eveylikesv · 01/03/2015 21:17

You are both YABU. Beans = boak,.sweet = double boak. Eggy bread only with cheese.

ChunkyPickle · 01/03/2015 21:17

Eggy bread has the smallest scrape of honey up them, just a touch of sweet.

Like popcorn - best just a little sweet, and just a little salty!

Ketchup is just wrong. You may as well be having beans on toast at that point!

barmybunting · 01/03/2015 21:18

I want to know more about the cheese in the middle option- in the middle of two bits?

And eggy bread is best served with marmite on top, nothing else!

BlackLabsAreBest · 01/03/2015 21:19

Savoury with salad cream.

StellaAlpina · 01/03/2015 21:20

I like it sweet and call it French toast. My dad got hooked on it when working in Canada. I make it the Canadian way as taught by my dad with brioche loaf and maple syrup.

There's also an Italian savoury eggy bread dish I really like called Mozzarella in carrozza. You make two sides of eggy bread, but sliced mozzarrela and prosciutto in the middle then fry it. Yum.

WindMeUpAndLetMeGo · 01/03/2015 21:23

As it is, but with HP not tomato sauce!

TheSpottedZebra · 01/03/2015 21:24

Yeah I'm confused about 'cheese in the middle' -that's an eggy sandwich, surely?
I am old school - nice, but white bread, egged, with salt, pepper and ketchup.

I will tell you all that eggy crumpet is also lovely, but it needs a thorough soaking.
