To think raking through a poster's old threads is despicable behaviour

There's a sideways discussion going on at the moment on another thread about this.

I've seen it a few times on here where two posters are disagreeing and one of them suddenly starts posting comments about previous remarks the poster has made (often months ago), or picking a tiny selection of threads the poster has started to imply that they're 'anti children' or 'anti weddings' or 'obviously have difficulties getting along with people'.

I remember someone doing this to me on another forum once and it creeped me out. AIBU to think it's horrible behaviour and a really cheap way to try and win an argument.

This thread is fascinating, I'm so nosey and it's made me wrack my brains for who all the posters mentioned might be. I remember using the search function in a state of mild panic once when someone asked if I was their SIL (I genuinely thought I might have been), I NC if I want to start a thread about any family issues now.

I agree, but. I once came across a thread that contradicted what she said on another thread, if you are going to make up things at least have the sense to change your user name.and the maddening thing was she criticized me for doing the same thing....The mind boggles...People never cease to amaze.
I would never name the poster or say what the thread was about because you've got to have a bit of respect,haven't you and I do believe. What's said on a thread, should stay on a thread, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to say... Oh so your life isn't as perfect as you make out.

I agree with the op dragging up past posts to win an argument is wank.

I've had a poster hunt me down to a thread and them PM me disgusting and vile things about it. Weirdo!

MN royalty? Hmm I've been here a few years now and although I recognise a few posters I wouldn't class them as royalty. I have seen brown nosing but the two I think give out great advice don't acknowledge it.

Who cares if there is a spreadsheet. I just keep name changing so you fuckers don't know who I am
