AIBU to be cross?

im ill. ive been ill for the last 3 days and have an appt in out of hours in an hour.
Im a lone parent, house is a mess, no food in, cant hardly make it off the sofa.

DD was meant to be having a friend over tonight nad we were looking after her tomorrow. I called the mum and said yesterday that i might have to cancel, and this morning i have cancelled. She hasnt replied to my text at all.

But instead posted on fb about how shes childfree tonight and whats shes doing.

WTF?

That random Grin was to Officer

I think I need to stop typing till the trippy medicine is fully out of my system.

OP... for the love of god don't take anything with cold and flu on the label !

It takes high temp hallucinaty feeling and adds drug addled to the mix.

vintagecrap · 15/02/2015 17:59

That post actually did make sense to me.

:)

It's clear she isn't any kind of a friend. I'll be taking a step back. She just wanted her night out.
Funny though as ive taken her kids to school when she said she was too unwell to.
And that's only just round the corner and she wasn't ill enough to see a doctor.

i hope you feel better soon op x

BerylStreep · 15/02/2015 18:27

Glad you have cancelled. She doesn't sound like a proper friend.

Hope you feel better soon. I've had similar before, throat, temp, sweats, chills - it's awful. A proper friend would be calling round with some chicken soup.

lemisscared · 15/02/2015 18:29

Ahhh, fuck her then - she's shown her true colours!

Feel better soon OP - you are a nice person, i'd rather be a bit soft and get taken advantage of than be a selfish, entitled cunt.

Staywithme · 15/02/2015 18:31

She sounds like a right selfish fecker OP. Flu or chest infection is rough enough but the two together sounds horrendous. Hope you feel better soon. Please don't be tempted to take lemsip type drinks and paracetamol as that's an overdose waiting to happen. if it was me I would have coughed into her face

nilbyname · 15/02/2015 18:40

She's a meanie.

I'm
I'll just like you. I've had 2 bowls of soup. A bowl of Hagen das, lots of water and ice chips to suck on. The ice chips are lovely. I recommend.

Feel better op!

Hissy · 15/02/2015 18:43

Just defined the bitch! Any normal person would have made other plans. Yes it's a bastard, but shut happens and I dare say getting sick wasn't your idea of fun either.

Being ill as a lone parent is just about the loneliest and shittiest thing there is!

As for your child and her friend being 9 and able to take care of themselves, no way! My Ds is 9 and just having him in the house when I'm sick is a massive responsibility let alone a pair of them.

The noise level is a gazillion times higher than just that of adding one more 9yo... When you're well it's as irritating as fuck, when you're sick, fever etc? Don't even go there!

Hissy · 15/02/2015 18:43

Yeah, get well soon vintage

StripeyCustard · 15/02/2015 18:53

Wow - a fb post, what a cheek. I'd be sitting on my hands trying not to comment back - you have great resolve!

What a cow - but great you have found out and can concentrate on getting to know some nice mums at your daughter's school. Flowers[more lem sip]

lougle · 15/02/2015 19:05

I'm so glad you're sorted with the doctor. You need to take the advice seriously - any worse and you go for help.

laughingmyarseoff · 15/02/2015 19:15

Not a friend at all OP or at the very least she would have completely understood and not tried to guilt you on fb, she could have also offered to take you to the doctors and to be PA shows her true colours. You warned her you might have to cancel and she booked tickets to try and trap you in. I would stay in bed, stay off work and ignore all communication from her.

I expect she will contact you tomorrow or just drop her DD round, she probably thinks you 'owe her'. People like that always do and deserve nothing but silence.

Good on you for telling her no, she was being very manipulative and unfair- taking advantage of a poorly friend who isn't in the right frame of mind to 'fight'

laughingmyarseoff · 15/02/2015 19:17

Oh and get yourself some echinacea to help hight the virus. Superdrug do their own tablets to help fight cold and flu which are these.

ohtheholidays · 15/02/2015 19:25

You sound really ill OP, you poor thing.I hope you feel much better soon, take it easy and look after yourself.

And ignore her and some of the nasty posts you got on here.

VeryStressedMum · 15/02/2015 19:32

That woman is not your friend. I hope you feel better soon.

Thankyoumrspatterson · 15/02/2015 19:37

Looks like queenliz did say cunt :/

2rebecca · 15/02/2015 19:47

Am amazed that anyone could be bothered having someone else's kid for a sleepover on a Sunday night, even if they're well.

vintagecrap · 15/02/2015 19:57

It's half term.
I work Sundays, so Saturday sleep overs are out and I was busy Friday and so was she.

Not that big of a deal?

OP posts:
2rebecca · 15/02/2015 20:03

OK I'm in Scotland and it's not half term here and Sunday evenings are always chaotic.

fluffymouse · 15/02/2015 20:04

Poor you op.

I hope you get better soon.

Do you have any family that can help out with your dad?
