This weekend many people in labour have turned against edd. I think its just too late to replace him and we should support him to stop the other two getting in The has tag has been hijacked I think, not sure if it is genuine.

I think the press have whipped this up to make it more difficult for Labour to win the general election. As far as I know no one in the Labour party has thrown their hat into the ring as a potential replacement and allegedly a lot of people are behind him. I will vote Labour whether Ed is leader or not because I like my MP.

It has to be deliberate.

Labour (unlike other parties) can elect a new leader only at Conference. There was no challenge when there was still time to achieve one.

So why start talking about it only when impossible?

Perhaps they actually don't want to win?

I do not think they want to be seen as the party that has to continue to make cuts. Their policies are still not well known, so all too easily look like a void (or at least have not been transparently costed, as the excuse of 'nearer the time' doesn't wash now).

It's the same ing over and over again: the Tories do the hard and unpopular work to make the country more solvent, Labour then spend it. Repeat ad infinitum.

Whilst I'm not a UKIP fan, I don't want labour back in either. Am hoping the Tories will get remain as overall they are doing a good job. Few bits I dont agree with like the free school meals for all infants but overall the best for the country.

It is because of Labour we have the horrific level of immigration we are now experiencing. I can't imagine anyone voting them in again.

I think the Conservatives are doing a decent job in several areas that interest me so I am genuinely surprised to find that I'll be voting for them in May.

Milliband is the worst Labour leader I can remember. I accept that you vote for your local MP but I cannot overlook how off-putting he is. He strikes me as being very, very thick, entirely out for himself and surrounded by sixth-form debating society geeks.

Angelos02 - immigration is not on the whole a problem for the whole of the UK. It's generally positive (unless you are a right wing tabloid or UKIP member). There are pockets of the uk where integration could be handled better but generally 'immigration' is not the huge problem that a lot of people have been led to believe it is.

And, like it or not, the Tories have managed to get the UK on the path to economic recovery.

So you'd want to back someone who appears to be an ineffective leader of his party to become a probable ineffective leader of this country, just to stop someone else being voted in?

Not too positive an endorsement, is it? And not an ideal way to run a country for the next four years.

When labour are in power the country goes tits up, I'll not be voting for them. Things have improved under the conservatives and as much as they have to do the dirty work they've done a lot of good too

I wouldn't vote Labour if they had put the only candidate forward in the local constituancy if it meant a tacit approval of Ed, he is unelectable.

Which is a shame, as if any party had some one with personality or leadership, they would win at a canter

Labour have to work a bit harder, if the only reason we should vote for them is that they are NOT the Tories...

They don't have a plan yet, do they? For the economy? They have nice plans to spend all the money that is being "saved" by those " bastard Tories".

But I also wonder if they would prefer to not get in power now, but let the Conservatives do another few years of unpopular measures first.

Well adsy, you could start by asking how increasing public debt from £800Bn to £1.4Trn counts as 'paying down the debt' as that towel folder constantly states.

As to where it would come from, well, increase tax on the 1%, put up corporate taxes and close loopholes that enable tax avoidance. But even Labour won't do that as they have the same policies as the Tories. We need a party that supports most of us, not the interests of the rich.

I will most likely be voting Green, maybe SNP. We need to get out of this Labour or Tories mindset. I am slightly puzzled by pp issue with free school meals? Surely one of the Tories better policies given the level of child poverty?

I am the wrong end of 45 and Ed ranks up there with Michael Foot S a bloody disaster for labour.

This team are a shower. You have the vile and treacherous Ed Balls who colluded with Gordon Brown to snipe and bitch at Tony Blaire. Yvette cooper his wife would be a Balls puppet.
It's not Eds fault mind you. For some unknown reason he stood for power and got the job. I think he was as shocked as the rest of us.

Labour had been going down the Pan since they stopped listening to the electorate and keit telling people that concerns mass immigration were silly and to discuss it was racist. It reached it's pinnacle with Gordon calling an elderly lady racist.

Like it or not UKIP had tapped into a huge public concern. The Tories are responding And labour are dithering.

Labour is now where it was after the bruising kinnock defeats.

It may as well pack up now and reinvent itself as it had done before.

Say what you like about Maggie and Tony. They had style, charisma and ideas. Ed had none if the above.
