This weekend many people in labour have turned against edd. I think its just too late to replace him and we should support him to stop the other two getting in
The has tag has been hijacked I think, not sure if it is genuine.

Oh and Dawndonna if you think you have any idea of the criteria I mentioned in my second paragraph and how they apply to me I'll wager you'd be very wide of the mark.

Good post emotions

Sad to see so many bigots on here who just scream 'racist' everytime someone disagrees with them, rather than engage in constructive debate.

God no, who can afford to pay for another five years of Labour? Not that I want another five years of Tories either.

I seriously have no idea who to vote for, there isn't one group or personality I would want anywhere near power.

I agree!

I keep thinking that now is the time for a new proper working class 'Labour' candidate to appear from centre left and take the world by storm. If there's anyone out there who fits the bill, speak up now-I'm sure you'll go down well!

Either that or we're heading for a revolution!

*UKIP= racist party voters too scared to vote bnp

While this maybe true, unlike labour ukip don't accept former boss ukip candidates into there ranks do they, so I suppose they have that going for them.

As always must caveat I'm not a ukip supporter

don't think it's just the backbenchers/dissenters you have to worry about tbh.

When Gordon brown accused that lady of being racist he lost the election then and there. And quite rightly in my opinion.

Discussing UKIP, Europe and concerns on immigration are not racist and unfortunately people's frustrations at being so labelled have led to a huge discontentment with the main parties and the upsurge in UKIP support.

The Tories are furiously beginning to try and take this on board. Labour are paralysed as they wallow in political correctness and their endemic eagerness to tell people how they should feel and ignore how they do feel.

Immigration is great for an economy but mass immigration drives low pay down further in a race for the bottom and places intolerable burdens on schools, the NHS and services. Of course poor Europeans will head to Britain. I bloody would. But how many Britons are heading to those countries?

Ed is ridiculous. Ed balls is a very Nasty treacherous bastard who helped fuel the worst feud between Gordon and Tony.

Labour will need to reinvent itself again as it looses in may.

It's a worrying time. Discontent fuels the rise of far right and left parties and that's happening right now.

Ed is a total liability. But labour won't be told. They are marching every forward to defeat. But it's probably what they want a few people think. Then they won't have to deal with cuts or the EU and can go on saying what a dreadful job the Tories are making of everything. Nobody is better than Labour at pontificating how they could do it all so much better/

Electriclaundryland · 10/11/2014 20:18

I'm sick of people saying Ed is unelectable. He has strong beliefs, he's intelligent. Just because he's a bit geeky and nasal sounding doesn't mean he can't do the job.

Report
Thebodynowchillingsothere · 10/11/2014 20:22

He forgot to mention the economy and the NHS.

I have strong beliefs and I am fairly intelligent. That doesn't mean I would have a cat in hells chance of running the country with a finger in the nuclear button.

You need to have a bit more than that to lead the country.

I personally think labour do not want to win the next election, cuts are still needed whoever you blame. The difficult point for labour is addressing which cuts are needed because by just saying tax the rich /closing tax loopholes whilst good in principal will be difficult considering globalisation but will hit a signifant support base. Just look at the proposed mansion tax, it's now become a team support where blue is bad and red is good regardless.

And it's usually the most fervent team supporters who are the most blinkered.

fucking hell, i can't believe how establishment and right wing mumsnet is.

I thought it was just the referendum, but jesus, who are all you people?

Mumsnet is generally filled with champagne socialists in my experience who will talk about the tragedy of poverty and hungry little children needing food banks to fill their hungry little bellies and brusquely tell a struggling single mum to pay for her own childcare while she studies Confused

Anyway, I am of the 'I am concerned about the level of immigration but I am not racist' inclination.

I've had a pay freeze since about 2008 through so anyone who ups my pay will get my vote!

I do actually think I'm going to vote for the conservatives though. I don't agree with all their views but I'm impressed by some stuff.

Justanotherlurker · 10/11/2014 20:54

I agree - dismissing opinions about Europe and immigration as racist just makes their proponents angry and more likely to vote UKIP, completely self defeating. I'm not an anti european but it baffles me why some people dismiss anti EU arguments as racist.

People think it's a moan about 'polish people coming over here taking all our jobs' and it isn't.

It is the huge strain on resources essentially: housing, educationally and healthwise in particular. The fact is that while I have no doubt there are numerous capable and intelligent Eastern Europeans many come to the UK working for minimum wage or similar and as such are unlikely to impact massively on middle England. You then get sneery posts about doctors who come from Bangladesh or India and how glad we are to have them which completely miss the point.

You must have a short memory or be very young, we are only just recovering from the Blair/brown years! Hell will freeze over before I vote for milliband!

Report
mummymeister · 10/11/2014 23:26

I will not vote Millibland. this has nothing to do with the way he looks or the way he talks or any other superficial thing. I don't see any credible policies that I could support. the old idea that Labour had of "vote for us, we aren't tories" just isn't going to stack it any more. same for the conservatives last election. they went with the "vote for us we aren't Gordon Brown" and that is how we ended up being ConDemed. I will never vote for the Labour party - not until all those who sold us the lie about Iraq are no longer in the cabinet or in power. too much blood on their hands and not to be trusted. I think no politican should be allowed to be an MP for more than 10 years. that way we would get a better change around within parties and there might actually be someone out there I could vote for.

as for all those saying that UKIP are just tories that want to vote BNP but are too embarrassed - lazy, lazy argument. BNP - bogey man ohh cant mention it!! there is a huge, huge tidal wave of support for them and the next election will be one of the most talked about political shifts for decades. exciting times, but not with Millibland anywhere near it. sorry OP you will have to go back to the Labour party office tomorrow and put all this in your report!!
