Pregnant and going through that horrible off food stage, but occasionally someone talks about something or I see it on tv and it has my mouth watering and appetite suddenly raging. I'm hoping for a few of these-preferably things that are v quick to grab/make as otherwise I could lose my appetite half way through cooking!
Tell me your best and yummiest quick treats (sweet and savoury)please!!

Cheese and onion crisps, mashed up, on toast

PiperIsOrange · 22/10/2014 22:57

Icelands hamwiches.

HangingBasketCase · 22/10/2014 23:03

Sausage and melted cheese on a crusty baguette. My mouth is watering just thinking of it, sadly it's so fattening and laden with calories that I only have it once in a blue moon as a treat.

Idontseeanysontarans · 22/10/2014 23:04

Nice cheese, crackers, pate, dip and natchos Smile

Lotsofchocolate · 22/10/2014 23:33

I've mentioned one really guilty food pleasure to friends and am normally met with looks of disgust as it's a v. odd combo. Blush
I love toasted Ciabatta w/ oregano, olive oil, tomato and mozzarella (not 'guilty' as such I know) - or warburtons toasted pancakes and butter..... oh, I'm hungry now.

DirtyOldTown · 23/10/2014 00:04

Pickled onion sandwiches.

Tinned corned beef on toast with brown sauce.
The bread for above must be white death supermarket stuff.

simpson · 23/10/2014 00:08

Tuna, mayo & sweetcorn either in a sandwich or with pasta.

Crisps (any flavour!)

Hummus & carrot sticks.

Twiglets.

Haloumi cheese.

Big Mac Blush with vanilla milkshake.

Pifflingcodswollop · 23/10/2014 02:59

These are so fab,had the weirdest tea as a result (plate full of crunchy pickled things plus different types of cheese and a few others) but actually enjoyed it-going to use this thread as an a la carte menu when I'm feeling 'off' now!
Helenenemo intrigued by 'supermodels with cheese' Grin!

Pancakes with that really dark brown sugar and lemon. Chocolate fudge icing (choc, golden syrup, butter, melt together for about a minute until it's shiny/smooth) on raspberries or anything else really, it's meant to go on cake but there's usually a bit left over... Those dairylea tube dipper things Blush only tried because there were no sandwiches left in shop near work at first but now they are a treat and one more guilty than the above because probably full of crap really. Really guilty: McCheeseburger or McFishSandwich and chocolate milkshake (not had in er months years, honest).

CarryOn90 · 23/10/2014 08:21

rumbleinthrjungle · 23/10/2014 08:36

Figs cut into quarters and placed around a slice of brie, drizzle with honey, put in the oven for 10 mins until the cheese has melted and the figs are hot and gooey.... a crisp apple cut up into chunks to drop on top of it when you get it out of the oven is also lovely :)

Titsalinabumsquash · 23/10/2014 08:43

12 weeks here and I have a craving for a cherry pie and custard. I need to facilitate this ASAP!

I also like a Birdseye chicken burger in a cheap bun with Mayo, lettuce and tomato.

Oh and a cheese and tomato toastie.

Yes these 6lbs I've packed on may not be all baby Blush

Thereshallbeaspirin · 23/10/2014 08:45

Toast with butter and golden syrup
Condensed milk sandwiches
Cold baked bean and salad cream sandwiches.
Banana sandwiches

Mine were spectacular pregnancies on account of the food alone.

Thereshallbeaspirin · 23/10/2014 08:46

Oh, and thick fruit yogurt with lumps of cheddar stirred through...

Titsalinabumsquash · 23/10/2014 08:46

During my last pregnancy I craved a Findus crispy pancake from my childhood, I cooked a whole packet to chow down on and I was bitterly disappointed to find they tastes nothing like the recipe of old. Hmm

ilovehotsauce · 23/10/2014 08:49

Mushrooms fried in lots of squeezy garlic with loads of cream and cheese bit of lemon juice and parsley on hot over buttered chunky toastGrin.

I'm sure it will shorten my life but it's so good!

TheToadLessTravelled · 23/10/2014 08:50

This pregnancy I have eaten ridiculous amounts of cold white toast very thickly spread with ice cold salty butter - thick enough to see teeth marks in the butter. Also cream cheese mixed with sweet chilli sauce and used as a dip for corn chips. Yum

WienerDiva · 23/10/2014 09:17

Doorstep cheap white bread spread with Nutella and topped with ready salted crisps.

Ambrosia for the soul mmmmmm

hellsbellsmelons · 23/10/2014 09:27

Thin slices of Manchego cheese on top of salt and vinegar crisps.
Toast spread with a mix of dijon and wholegrain mustard, topped with cheese and toasted.
Smooth pickle spread on white bread to make a cheese sandwich and fill with salt and vinegar crisps.

When I was PG I could only keep down sugary tea and home made orange juice ice lollies for the first 6 months.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 23/10/2014 09:28

Rosary garlic and lemon goats cheese on those Waitrose cheap poppy seed crackers.

If I am feeling in a construction kind of mood I build a burger. Aldi brioche roll spread thinly with smooth Branston. A layer of chopped cornichon (four will do). Then a layer of lettuce and one spring onion, thin sliced.

Fry the burger and when it is nearly done, slice some chilli cheese and put into ramekin. Partially melt in microwave (about 5 seconds) and spread onto top bun half. Place burger onto lettuce topped bun half, add a little salt and a slice of Jack Hawkins tomato that has been kept out of the fridge so it is very tomato-ey and fragrant. Add tablespoon of sauerkraut (Very Important!) then a squirt of burger sauce (the orange stuff, 99p Heinz version).

Top with the bun half and serve with ketchup.

Probably too convoluted for you but THIS is the ur burger.

hellsbellsmelons · 23/10/2014 09:28

OMG - Findus crispy pancakes. Loved these.

Finduuuss crispy pancakes, the all time greeeeaaaaaat!

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 23/10/2014 09:30

Oh and Waitrose red pepper hummous spread onto pitta bread, stuffed with salad and salted crisps.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 23/10/2014 09:32

Candied bacon- (sorry for over enthusiastic posting :) )

Spread a pack of streaky bacon onto non stick baking tray. Scatter lots of brown sugar- demerara all over it and roast until the bacon is crispy and the sugar molten and encrusting the rashers.

Take out, remove bacon from the tray and let cool on a plate.

Keep in fridge to eat whenever. If it lasts that long.
