They have let this country down so badly. And now we all have to reap what they've sown.

Yab so u. Ukip are so dangerous. They are racist, sexist homophobes.

CaptainAnkles · 10/10/2014 06:27

Yes yabu. People don't actually know what they're voting for with ukip.

rootypig · 10/10/2014 06:31

I should clarify. I DO loathe UKIP. I would never vote for them. What I mean is, the three major parties have created this hideous mess, without which UKIP would never thrive. Each of them has betrayed their purported principles in inimitable fashion.

OP posts:
cleanmachine · 10/10/2014 06:32

Yabu.

rootypig · 10/10/2014 06:32

Just realised my OP sounds like a UKIP supporter! Grin

sorry, badly phrased. UKIP is what we have to reap Sad. That, and total apathy.

Bowlersarm · 10/10/2014 06:32

What's your solution OP?

rootypig · 10/10/2014 06:47

Hi Bowlers.

Proper investment in the regions, no private providers of health, education or welfare, beefed up financial and energy regulators, renationalise trains, get rid of private schools, hugely expand technical and vocational education, heavily subsidised child care, bolster the unions, no zero hours contracts, no workfare, quotas for women in parliament, and large companies, radical prison reform, can we keep the HRA please? ... oh, I could go on all night.

You're not going to vote for me, are you? Grin

OP posts:
millionsofpeaches · 10/10/2014 06:55

I'd vote for you rooty!

Bowlersarm · 10/10/2014 07:00

Your policies are a little extreme, rooty.

I don't know what the answer is. I hope this isn't replicated in the general election. But I think if it is, then yes, the other parties need to shake themselves up, because they'll be proving to be what the public don't want.

I'll be a bit scared waking up after the general election next year.

SanityClause · 10/10/2014 07:01

I'd vote for you rootypig.

I had a thing on my Facebook yesterday from the Conservative party, asking me to do a survey about their immigration policies. (How did they get on my Facebook?) Anyway, I did fill it in. I "strongly disagreed" with most of it, including the bit about "helping immigrants to learn English". Umm, most of them speak English before they get here, and if not, quickly learn some, as it increases employment prospects, and ability to access public services. And if they can't speak English, why is that my business?

rootypig · 10/10/2014 07:06

Well Bowlers, you'll be pleased to know I'm too ragtag to stand in any election Grin (though I am cheered by your sympathy for the ideas peaches and Sanity!)

I'll be a bit scared waking up after the general election next year.

Me too.

Sanity the way people talk about immigrants is bonkers. Most of them have shown more wit and backbone by getting here than a Conservative MP has in his right foot.

But wouldn't you rather been seen at a private hospital if it meant you were treated quickly Rootypig, rather than waiting around for the wheels of the good old nhs to grind?

From someone who has worked in the NHS, when you see the waste and mismanagement you do really start believing that all healthcare should be tendered out to private providers.

rootypig · 10/10/2014 07:18

I haven't worked in the NHS Madame, so I can't speak to your experience.

I wouldn't want to be treated in a private hospital if it weren't universal and free, no. I feel very strongly about universal healthcare. I have waited very long times for treatment and have witnessed mismanagement and sheer laziness. As a patient, sometimes the obvious idiocy of the management systems in place makes me tear my hair. But mismanagement is a system problem and universal healthcare is a principle and the older and crankier I get, the more I realise that once you start chipping away at principles, you may as well be digging their grave.

Do you still work in the NHS? if so, what do you think of the changes in the past three years? and before that?

OP posts:
NormaStits · 10/10/2014 08:02

Why do you think ukip are less loathsome? They haven't been given the opportunity to let the country down, that's the only 'positive' against the other three.

Ukip in power will certainly let you down if you are non-white, gay, disabled, poor or female. I cannot for one minute comprehend why any woman would give ukip a second thought, if they actually knew what some of their opinions are regarding women.

Rebecca2014 · 10/10/2014 08:08

I do not understand why people think UKIP are racist or sexist? yes they have had members who were racist but they were suspended. They did not voice their views as a party but as an individual yet some people have taken individual word as gospel, like UKIP want the nhs to be privatised.

I like their policies and their views on immigration, if having an immigration system like Australia, America makes us all racist then I don't care. They are not against benefits and have even said they would rise job seekers for people who have been putting into the system for five years.

The fact is UKIP are rising and you lefties just have get used to it.

BetterTogether75 · 10/10/2014 08:18

UKIP would destroy remaining workers' rights and hard-won protections let employers walk all over their staff. They think women's rights, health and safety and human rights are the enemy. Any ordinary person who votes for them is an idiot.

weegiemum · 10/10/2014 08:21

Ukip are scary. Yabu. They're not a viable option.

I vote snp and am glad of a viable alternative to the mainstream.

Greens should be doing better. Not right wing enough in this climate, though!

insancerre · 10/10/2014 08:22

Ukip are very dangerous
They should have no place in British politics

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 08:25

"you lefties"

rofl

rootypig · 10/10/2014 08:26

Why do you think ukip are less loathsome?

I expect nothing of them, they're bottom feeders. The other three parties have sold us down the fucking river.

OP posts:
PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 08:26

they're all just ghastly

some are racist and ghastly, but all are ghastly

most don't give a shit about women, minorities, inequality

Rebecca2014 · 10/10/2014 08:26

They have a new manifesto out so where does it say that? Or are you just quoting what the media have said?

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 08:28

there is the most representative photo on the BBC homepage right now that basically sums up UK politics

rich white men congratulating themselves

daisiesandpoppies · 10/10/2014 08:31

I have to admit that while I am a labour voter I have looked on ukips page and can't see anything that hints at racism - apart from a divorce from Europe which I am in favour of and I know I'm not racist!

Nor can I see anything about maternity leave.

Must be looking in the wrong place.

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 08:31

leaving europe, the EHRC and scrapping the HRA would all destroy those rights that have been hard-fought for and about which people have now become complacent
