They have let this country down so badly. And now we all have to reap what they've sown.

I've read the manifesto Rebecca, it's very artful. Doesn't say much at all, really. I mean, it's true back of a fag packet stuff.

Abolish non-essential and politically-correct jobs and red tape
Oh yes, good idea.

But for every inane bullet point ('leave the EU' really warrants more than a line saying, er, that) there is a revolting truth. Repatriation. No rights for workers. Hugely reduced support for mothers. All these lefty ideas like renewable energy just tossed out of the window.

I mean, it's truly brainless.

No Rooty, I don't work for the NHS after complaining about racism I was ousted by a campaign headed by a woman from Clacton!

Have to do school run now but I was shocked at the apathy and sheer laziness of lots of the staff in the service I worked in after coming from the private sector. I was shocked at how people were not held to account for their actions (serious life threatening fuck up so). One person was investigated for sedating patients rather than deescalating, she was a bully and really fucked up - she is now running another ward. One lost the keys to an entire brand new unit, one allowed a child to swallow something he had form for swallowing in a self harm capacity which meant he needed key hole surgery. I could go on and on. In the private sector these people would have been sacked and rightly so. I asked the HR Director why people were not taken to account and she said because next time they will be dishonest and not admit to these breaches Blush!!

Allow me to translate, daisies

Prioritising services for local people = priority for white Brits
Our housing, education, health and social services cannot cope with constantly rising numbers of people coming to live and work here. = immigration scaremongering
Ending foreign aid to rebuild our debt ridden economy - more scaremongering, neatly slotted onto the back of a vile Tory lie
deport foreign criminals - get rid of anyone not white who we don't like, easy enough once the HRA and ECHR are in the bin

I'd go on but I'm too depressed

I too have to abandon ship but I will be back later! not doing a runner.

I am afraid that most if the posts above show exactly why UKIP are doing so well.

Dismiss people's genuine concerns on immigration by calling them racist and see what happened to poor old Gordon caught in camera.

You will let UKIP in. listen

Dawndonnaagain · 10/10/2014 08:44
PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 08:45

i would far rather live in a country that people want to come to than one that people are trying to flee

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 10/10/2014 08:48

I predict a UKIP/Tory alliance next may and it scares me.

Labour is dead under Ed.

daisiesandpoppies · 10/10/2014 08:56

I'm afraid I agree with deporting foreign criminals. Criminals - convicted of a crime - not 'people we don't like.'

I'm also inclined to agree with the fact our housing and health services can't cope with rising numbers of people living and working here.

WaroftheRoses · 10/10/2014 09:07

Let's be honest-no political party is ever going to get it right because all of the 45 million registered voters in this country have different ideas about what is right and wrong!

WaywardOn3 · 10/10/2014 09:07

Everyone should vote Green, they've got some fab ideas :-)

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 09:11

i don't agree with deporting foreign criminals if they are going to be tortured, put to death, or otherwise not experience a fair judicial system in that country

i won't allow the abhorrent behaviour of others to bring me down to their level

ilovehotsauce · 10/10/2014 09:11

They are racists how can you not seen this?????

They are also hompohobic, have awful views on women, single parent families and poor people.

I personally am so terrified of people like you that either can't see what they are trying to peddle or think it's perfectly acceptable.

AuntieStella · 10/10/2014 09:14

" including the bit about "helping immigrants to learn English". Umm, most of them speak English before they get here, and if not, quickly learn some, as it increases employment prospects, and ability to access public services. And if they can't speak English, why is that my business?"

There have already been huge cuts to subsidised English language courses, and this sounds like they are scoping the political reaction if they abolish it totally. I would not support this, as those who really need this service are the family members (in practice usually wives) who can be extremely isolated (and in some cases vulnerable) if they cannot communicate in English.

Numanoid · 10/10/2014 09:14

YADNBU. Although I loathe all four of them equally. Grin

Numanoid · 10/10/2014 09:19

I do not understand why people think UKIP are racist or sexist?

I'll give just one recent example:

Independent article

"The problem with female voters and Ukip is that, over the last 5 to 10 years, at times, on a very bad day, we've looked a bit blokeish, a bit like a rugby club on a day out and I'm probably the most guilty person of all ... The pub and everything else. It's true, it was a very male dominated party in every aspect.”

That admission does not mean that the Ukip is proposing to change his ways. “What do you want me to do? Go sell flowers?” he said.

Hmm Sounds sexist to me.

SaucyJack · 10/10/2014 09:21

Agree with thebody. UKIP are very good at pretending to be the only party interested in standing up for the ordinary Joes on the street. Calling their voters thick and dismissing their concerns is only going to disenfranchise them more from mainstream politics.

daisiesandpoppies · 10/10/2014 09:22

The above isn't a policy, though.

It also could apply to any of the main political parties; politics are dominated by males and I agree it's a problem, I'm just not sure it's limited to UKIP.

MehsMum · 10/10/2014 09:27

Rooty, your manifesto... how would you PAY for all of that?

As you noted, the country is a mess, i.e. we have humungous debts to pay off. Nailing tax-avoiding companies like Starbucks to the floor will help, but it won't provide the whole answer.

I'm not racist or a xenophobe, but I do worry about immigration: we have a very full island with a housing crisis. If we had loads of space it would be a different matter. I won't be voting for UKIP because I think they're...

After Ed Miliband's recent performances I am even less likely to vote for him that I was before (I've gone from 'No chance' to 'No chance EVER'). I lost it with Labour over Iraq, and it will take far more than young Eddie to persuade me to vote for them again.

I want a government that will tackle the deficit so my kids aren't paying for it in 40 years time, reduce inequality (by raising low wages and having a sensible benefits system), keep the NHS, tighten up on tax avoidance by large firms, deal with the West Lothian Question, move away from carbon-based energy, and keep an eye on our borders. That's just a start. Can anybody out there suggest who I might vote for?

camelmonkey · 10/10/2014 09:30

But all parties have racist mp's who have said dodgy things. Labour ruined the country during their 13 years in power and the Tories are making it even worse. I don't know how anyone can consider voting for any of the 3 main parties as they basically just look after themselves and the 1%. UKIP are probably not any better but I think it is essential that we have a shake up of the system so that the 3 main parties drop their complacency and start listen to the people who are paying their wages rather than the rich. It's ridiculous how badly the country has been run and how many lies we are told.

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 09:32

i don't think voting for UKIP is the way to send that message

gordyslovesheep · 10/10/2014 09:34

a manifesto is not the same as policies - it's just your election promises and a lot of spin

their policies - when you can find them - are not very clear and quiet odd

No to Political Correctness - it stifles free speech is one of my faves - so ban free speech to protect free speech? okay then Hmm

we already HAVE an 'Australian style' system of immigration by the way

and what is the big problem with human rights - why is protecting peoples fundamental basic rights a bad thing?

Fluffy40 · 10/10/2014 09:36

Tories are evil bastards, Labour are useless and need a change of leader, Liberals are all talk and no action, can you see why it's so easy for UKIP?

Numanoid · 10/10/2014 09:36

I know it isn't policy daisies, but Farage has made at least one outright racist comment that I've heard (on a radio show).

The behaviour of many of their members and Farage himself is appalling. Plus I'm very much against their main goal of leaving the EU.

thereturnofshoesy · 10/10/2014 09:40

UKIP scare me.
Until I know what their party policies are concerning disabled people they will continue to.
