They have let this country down so badly. And now we all have to reap what they've sown.

Anyway, I never said one group should 'pay', I said other groups should also benefit, and rightfully so. That would come from a redistribution of wealth from Britain and a dismantling of the global systems that continue to benefit this nation through the exploitation of other people.

claig · 10/10/2014 11:44

'Should the United Kingdom be sovereign and detemine its own laws or should near to 75% of its laws be determined by Brussels?

No, because if we leave the EU then we leave the only united front we have against parties such as UKIP, the French Front Nationale and similar. I think Europe needs to work together to stop them gaining power and support."

But Numaoid, that is not for you to decide, it is for the people to decide in a democratic vote, just as whether the Scottsh people wanted independence or not was for the Scottish people to decide. You have a voice, you have a vote, but it is only one vote among the millions of citizens of our country.

The only thing that counts is what the people decide.

ConkerTime · 10/10/2014 11:46

I feel the debates are similar.

The answers to me are similar too. To move forward in a modern world we need closer cooperation not a knee jerk reversion to "local issues for local people" as it were.

I don't want a Scottish Parliament to have powers to change abortion provision for example and make it different to that in England. I can see that the local levels on property tax announced yesterday make sense in Scotland but wouldn't in London due to huge difference in house prices. I'm trying to sort it out in my head Confused! but I do feel strongly that pulling out of cooperative democratic structures entirely is not the answer.

Sinister can you point out where they want to 'send people home' ?

Not goading genuine question?

HampshireBoy · 10/10/2014 12:03

I think some people are confusing UKIP with parties like the BNP, to the best of my knowledge UKIP have never had "sending them home" as a policy except for illegal immigrants and immigrants that have been convicted of a major crime. Seriously who could object to sending people back who are in those categories?

camelmonkey · 10/10/2014 12:08

I think Labour hate foreigners far more than UKIP. How many Iraqis had to die so that Blair and the Labour party could benefit? Labour the party that hates foreigners.

kittensinmittens · 10/10/2014 12:14

I completely disagree with inheritance tax. I'm with UKIP on that.

chiliplant · 10/10/2014 12:22

There is always the green party (ignored by the media mostly) very progressive ideas and doesn't deal just with green issues.

chiliplant · 10/10/2014 12:25

Ukip support trip basically means companies can sue the government if they pass a law that would damage them financially like putting a legal requirement for the amount of nurses on a ward.

Its amazing t me that the fiasco over trains has not made ppl more worried about the privatisation of the NHS.

Sorry we don't do that operation here too specialised..not enough return for the share holders.

angelos02 · 10/10/2014 12:26

I don't know that UKIP would 'send people home' if they weren't born here but I do think that if I were foreign-born, I'd be getting anxious watching the news.

claig · 10/10/2014 12:29

chiliplant do you have a link that says that UKIP support TTIP? As far as I know they have not decided and since they believe in sovereignty, I doubt they will agree. The greens also do not agree with TTIP.

But Labour and Conservative and LibDem possibly will agree with TTIP as they have already agreed to cede our sovereignty to the EU.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/10/2014 12:31

As a woman (albeit one who is unlikely to have any more children) I have my doubts about UKIP's views on women's rights

daisiesandpoppies · 10/10/2014 12:40

Chaz, I'm not sure that's unusual, particularly.

I'm a teacher and I remember reading a thread on the tes website where a woman who'd had three children was VILIFIED for the 'inconvenience' Hmm she'd caused her school.

gordyslovesheep · 10/10/2014 12:43

*we already HAVE an 'Australian style' system of immigration by the way

Erm...no we don't. Anyone from the EU can come in. And the number of non-EU people I see working in non-essential roles seems pretty high to me too*

so all the people from the UK who retire or live and work in the EU - you'll have them back - and house and employ them ...?

Anyone from outside the EU is subject to tight immigration controls already

Numanoid · 10/10/2014 12:45

I know it isn't my decision claig, but as everyone has the right to vote as they choose, I still have the right to worry that UKIP are gaining power. Although I don't believe that enough people support them for them to gain any sort of real power in the next election.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 10/10/2014 12:48

dear Ed, you are making a speech now that you should be ashamed of.

You nearly lost a safe labour seat by 600 votes and you are warning the Tories are in trouble.

Dear Dave,

A vote for ukip is a vote for labour?

Really not in clacton and not in Haybridge!

For for fucks sake if you need anymore wake up calls you have fucking narcolepsy.

You are loosing your core voters.

gordyslovesheep · 10/10/2014 12:52

For for fucks sake if you need anymore wake up calls you have fucking narcolepsy. You are loosing your core voters

totally agree

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/10/2014 12:57

daisies
That's why we need laws to protect women's rights. I am not convinced that UKIP wouldn't "tinker" with them.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 10/10/2014 13:06

a lot of these threads are stealth UKIP supporters

Head in the clouds crap like this allows UKIP in.

camelmonkey · 10/10/2014 13:09

This is precisely what politics needs. A shake up of the old order (Etonian politicians of the Tories, Labour and Lib Dems representing the interests of themselves and the 1%).

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 10/10/2014 13:10

gordy so cross with Ed I threw the radio on the floor!

Confused
DecisionsDecisionss · 10/10/2014 13:11

I think the three main parties have bullshitted voters and screwed up the country no end.. They also have a massive arrogance that they won't be defeated by ukip.

scatteroflight · 10/10/2014 13:18

YANBU OP. LibLabCon are a cosy cartel. None of them have any significant differences in policy which has led to complete ideological stagnation in this country.

Some amount of consensus in politics is good when it comes to basic principles like believing in democracy and equality. But the fact that all parties believe the EU is an unalloyed good? That control of our borders isn't important (or is racist)? That foreign wars can be embarked upon at the drop of a hat? That there is a housing "crisis" that must be solved by building over our green belt rather than looking at our immigration-driven population explosion?

Our politicians have become so removed from the concerns of ordinary people. They act like a managerial class that knows what is best for us. Yet none of them have lived real lives outside of politics and are largely insulated from the results of their policies.

I really thank god for UKIP. We might finally get politicians - in all parties - who actually listen to the people.
