To wonder why there are men posting here?

The website is called MUMSnet. Not dadsnet or parentsnet, but MUMSnet. Most people who post here are female so why men would even want to post here is beyond me. It's even creepier when they don't have any kids.

Panthingies you are very welcome here.

Try that Oxy spray stuff on the stained vest. Works much better than Vanish.

You're a bit late for the Friday night drinking thread, but it'll probably turn up it you can be bothered to search.

Fluffyears · 05/10/2014 11:42

Am ttc so should I get my coat then? YABU, pipe down love!

LiviaDruscillaAugusta · 05/10/2014 11:51

There was a nastynunsnet, but I decided not to click. GrinGrinGrin

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/10/2014 11:56

You can't say things like that you're being clique and exclusive. God I hate cliques. They make me seeethe.
How rude.!

Gutted, all clever one liners I was hoping to use have been posted in one form or another daily mail very very very sad face Sad... So I have to resort to a bleeding chocolate medal Biscuit

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/10/2014 11:58

And what about those that can't have children who are ttc

Fenton · 05/10/2014 12:07

I wonder if there's a GoadersNet, or a PainfullyHardOfThinkingsNet?

YoSkylar · 05/10/2014 12:33

OP, what a load of absolute BOLLOCKS !

Gruntfuttock · 05/10/2014 12:45

My only child is now in her 20s. Should I leave? I am female though, so perhaps it's OK to be here.

Anyway, what's creepy about men posting here?

daisychain01 · 05/10/2014 13:01

How can you tell from people's user names who is male or female?

Youu could be on a thread where there is a 60/40 split and you'd just never know...

Plomino · 05/10/2014 13:43

There are men who post on here who come across as relatively well balanced individuals . There are women with children who post on here , who can be snidey rude and downright goody . Being a goady arsehole isn't limited to those with penises , you can be a prick even if you don't have one .

drivingmisslazy · 05/10/2014 17:00

I like it when I read a thread and a man has given there point of you.

The more the merrier.

Bulbasaur · 05/10/2014 17:03

How can you tell from people's user names who is male or female?

Actually, this is true. I've been surprised at the people that turn out to be men and the people who turn out to be women.

Delphiniumsblue · 05/10/2014 17:28

Far more interesting if you have a wide variety of people posting. Deadly boring if you have to be a mother of a certain age. We can all have opinions.
You can also come on MN and never discuss children, if you don't want to.

neiljames77 · 05/10/2014 17:54

I originally came on this site for relationship advice.
Then I got advice on any problems my kids were experiencing.
I find this site surprisingly addictive, funny and informative.
It's also changed my outlook and perspectives on lots of things.

TiggyD · 05/10/2014 17:54

If Jesus was less dead today and he wanted to post on Mumsnet, should he be allowed? The little baby Jesus? Or his Dad? The one who made all the baby bunnies and kittens and invented chocolate and helped form One Direction?

Disagree and you'll burn in the fiery pits of Hull.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 05/10/2014 17:56

This nest of vipers would crucify Jesus, Tiggy.

YonicScrewdriver · 05/10/2014 18:04

I love "less dead"...

melw74 · 05/10/2014 18:07

I Personally do not think it matters if they generally want to post, but it all depends why they are posting. I was a member over at Netmums before i got a perm ban for arguing with one their most annoying Male members, who is obviously on there to stir up trouble... So i told him straight out, and that was that.... always going on about how hard done by men were etc etc.... He had no kids apart for an adult daughter, and i always wondered why he feels the need to be there.... Apart from the fact he has an army of female followers.

If your going to post on a site like this, at least have a good reason.... Advice, talking about the kids etc.... do not come on just to stir... Of course i know Men need help etc too, but like i say have a good reason for it, not just be there to cause trouble!!

ChameleonCircuit · 05/10/2014 18:17

There are men posting on here?!?!?!!! Oh my stars, fetch the smelling salts! /sarcasm

Besides, if MNHQ ban men, where are we going to get our DIY advice? A MN without PigletJohn et al would be a sadder place.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 05/10/2014 18:23

Are you sure PigletJohn is, in fact, male? Having a male moniker doesn't make one male.

It's very unlikely that in all the history of Mumsnet that every poster has their names alligned to their gender. Some people may have even impersonated someone of the opposite and kept it up as a way to not 'out' themselves in real life, or some other reason. Noone would know. Who cares!

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/10/2014 18:28

Flowers to all. Can anyone guess that I had a lie in this morning? Thanks to creepy, creepy DH.

MissDuke · 05/10/2014 18:30

It is interesting that HQ mentioned 'parents' in their reply when so many posters have indicated that they aren't parents.

I have to be honest - I have never used MN for parenting type stuff. With the exception of occasionally using the special needs bit. The bad language and incredible humour makes me use it for my own entertainment, and I am on here everyday. It is 'child free' time. I use another site the odd time when I am looking for parenting type stuff.

Bulbasaur · 05/10/2014 18:32

This nest of vipers would crucify Jesus, Tiggy.

Naw, we'd just talk about how entitled he is to think people need to worship him. Grin

YonicScrewdriver · 05/10/2014 18:48

"Are you sure PigletJohn is, in fact, male? Having a male moniker doesn't make one male."

Yup. I think it comes up often in his posts.
