To wonder why there are men posting here?

The website is called MUMSnet. Not dadsnet or parentsnet, but MUMSnet. Most people who post here are female so why men would even want to post here is beyond me. It's even creepier when they don't have any kids.

OP posts:
maddening · 08/10/2014 06:51

Well there is a dad's section in the forums so surely that shows that mumsnet expects dads to be on here.

DaddyBeer · 08/10/2014 07:09

Chipping little out of my comfort zone here, but there's just something about that gaze...

To wonder why there are men posting here?
Thumbwitch · 08/10/2014 07:12

BUt he's such a BABY! Look how he only looks about 12.

Wink
DaddyBeer · 08/10/2014 07:21

Yeah but he does have his steely moments.

PacificDogwood · 08/10/2014 07:37

Zing, you clearly have an empty life devoid of meaning and purpose. I pity you really. Maybe you should consider TTC? Children give life meaning you know

Envy

I don't even know who that cherub is, DaddyBeer Blush

Thumbwitch · 08/10/2014 07:51

oh Pacific! That's Cary Agos from The Good Wife, aka actor Matt Czuchry. I'm sure he's not really 12, he just looks it. Wink

DaddyBeer · 08/10/2014 07:51

Pacific he's a lawyer on The Goodwife, a great series on Netflix that MB and I are steaming through. Juliana Marguiles (ER, dated George) plays a wife who has to go back to work as a lawyer after her husband (Big from Sex in the City) is sent to prison.

Has some great cameos including Eddie Izzard and Michael J Fox (who is just flawless).

Cary just has something Robert Redford about him.

LiviaDruscillaAugusta · 08/10/2014 08:20

Thumbwitch I love DT when he's playing evil! Blush

I haven't seen the Good Wife yet - heard its good though. I am still trying to get round to watching House of Cards Season 2 but it's going to have to wait until after Doctor Who has finished I think!

ZingOfSeven · 08/10/2014 08:34

Pacific
Grin

or do you mean "get fucked"?!Angry

DaddyBeer · 08/10/2014 08:37

Goodwife is well worth a look. Lots of great characters, including Archie Punjabi (Bend it like Beckham) who plays an investigator called Kalinda who's not afraid to use a baseball bat on people who piss her off.

Have just started rewatching House of Cards. As season 2 came out on Valentine's day last year, can you guess what I was doing 6.30 am Valentine's morning? I did make it up to MB..

Livia yeah it's Alex Polizzi. She just has a certain - let's say - "vibrancy" about her.

PacificDogwood · 08/10/2014 20:45

I would never use a bad word wrt you, my lovely Thanks

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 22:54

Hi Zing - long time no chat :( Must catch up properly!! Need Zinglet news x

Thumb - no, no, no, no to DT. Not even with yours - bleughghghghgh

DaddyBeer - fgs surely that's not even legal? He looks about 12!! Mind you, no matter which side you are pitching, I'm not buying it!! You have a free run with all of your crushes as far as I'm concerned Grin

Me too Pacific - at least to look like they're old enough to be legal Shock I'm still after a young Colin Firth.

ZingOfSeven · 08/10/2014 22:56

Pacific

There should be a headtilt emoticon though!Grin

BabyZing is ok, almost 3 months old!Shock

ZingOfSeven · 08/10/2014 23:07

We are ok. I'm having my gallbladder taken out on the 27th. [brave face]

BabyZing can giggle now and he is just scrumptious.Smile He looks like the others, no surprise there.

ZingGirl is now 2.5 and still can't be bothered to talk, generally.

ZingBoys are fine. DS5 LOVES his school! he had ear infection last week and was heartbroken that he had to stay home. bless him, he is in reception, wonder how long that will last!Grin

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 23:14

ZingOfSeven · 09/10/2014 00:05

yes PM me.

Hay Day is a brilliant game, courtesy of PD!Wink
do not download it or you'll be hooked forever!

(I know that derailing threads and banter can be frowned upon but I think this one has run its course...)

Thumbwitch · 09/10/2014 02:52

Zing, I think this one ran its course some time ago! Grin
And now I've realised who you are, of course - hope it all went well with production of no. 7! Thanks

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 09/10/2014 07:30

Zing! Great to hear from you. Glad newest Zinglat is giggly. :)

HavanaSlife · 09/10/2014 07:33

I second not downloading hayday, I spend way too much time on there, my neighbourhood is full of mnetters.

DadDadDad · 09/10/2014 07:36

Actually, I thought this thread was starting to look like a honey trap for all the dads on the site, while the mums got a clear run elsewhere. Grin

I've never seen so many men gathered on one thread. Like wasps at a picnic...

londonrach · 09/10/2014 07:47

I switch between hayday and mn. Hayday best game there is and we got the best neighbourhood..

Fubsy · 09/10/2014 08:51

"What would David Niven do"

Shagged someone and got drunk surely?

CaptainVasiliBorodin · 09/10/2014 10:58

I started to mooch around here during the run up to my wifes IVF course, was doing some research and looking for advice/support forums and mumsnet threads kept on popping up on google so I dived in.

The Relationship threads were a bit of an eye opener and I like to think they were beneficial to me insofar gaining a female insight to things.

I generally have a look at Am I Being Unreasonable for a bit laugh more than anything else as there are some quite batshit crazy threads that have popped up there over the year.

I do think there is natural gender bias which is to be expected on a single gender dominated site, you can see the same thing on male dominated forums. Still, it gets a bit depressing sometimes when some threads just descend into what can only be described as total misandry.

ZingOfSeven · 09/10/2014 11:32

Havana

which neighbourhood are you in? I'm in MN Moar.
just about to get my hands on Sandwich bar - it opens this afternoon. so exciting!

hi thumbwitch and Ye !

ZingOfSeven · 09/10/2014 11:36

Captain

I hope you got good advice and support. I have seen many threads where women and men both chipped in to support OP so best to focus on the good (and the hilarious) and brush off the nasty stuff.

good luck to you and your wife!Smile
