To wonder why there are men posting here?

The website is called MUMSnet. Not dadsnet or parentsnet, but MUMSnet. Most people who post here are female so why men would even want to post here is beyond me. It's even creepier when they don't have any kids.

OP posts:

Because there is more to this site than just parenting.

But then I am a child free woman so I'm probably creepy.

YonicScrewdriver · 05/10/2014 10:24

I saw a bloke in Mothercare yesterday.

And some pregnant women, who seemed not to be mothers right at that very point in time.

And some children.

Creepy creeps, the lot of 'em. I called store security.

Find myself wondering whether the OP has read any of the threads about people being bullied in schools by being excluded and whether they see any connection between that behaviour and their OP.

Maybe this thread was started by someone who enjoys the power kick that bullies are believed to get from excluding others.

You may have guessed that excluding people touches a bit of a nerve for me.

DiaDuit · 05/10/2014 10:30

I saw a grandmother using a parent and toddler parking space the other day. And the child wasnt a toddler either- only about 4 months old the little thing. Talk about inappropriate use of the space! Shock

In ancient times, men seeking wisdom would journey from their villages, travelling beyond the fields they knew, in search of guidance se women who'd live alone in the mountains. They'd approach the hidden caves humbly, usually after facing unusual trials and challenges, and present gifts of great rarity in return for irascibly delivered nuggets of profound wisdom.

Now I just have to go online. Speaking for myself, it's something of a relief.

PS I do not mean to imply that the women of mumsnet are withered crones, sight-less weavers of fate or cannibalistic norns.

LiviaDruscillaAugusta · 05/10/2014 10:41

DiaDuit I hope you phoned 101 immediately - that is shocking! ShockGrin

Vitalstatistix · 05/10/2014 10:42

Cor, Neo, that is some world class sucking up Grin

ilovesooty · 05/10/2014 10:43

I have reservations about that response from MNHQ. It doesn't exactly extend a welcome to child free posters.

londonrach · 05/10/2014 10:43

Nunsnet..really... Honestly a man in mothercare i hope he was escorted out of the shop by security!

zippey · 05/10/2014 10:46

I suppose the OP would have a problem with male nursery staff too. And women going into the Menswear section of department stores etc

Staywithme · 05/10/2014 10:47

There already is a nunsnet

Don't tell the priests, they'll all be creeping on there! Shock

Now going of to look at Nunsnet. wonder if they'll sense an atheist amongst them

DiaDuit · 05/10/2014 10:47

DiaDuit I hope you phoned 101 immediately - that is shocking!

Not only that but i made a citizens arrest and will be speaking with my local MP over this. 2 violations on one space is just taking the piss! Something needs to be done! Wont anyone think of the toddlers? Sad

HowsTheSerenity · 05/10/2014 10:48

Could you please link me to married with no children but trying with ivf but have two neurotic cats and two fat pugs net is then?

zippey · 05/10/2014 10:49

The OP was specifically targeting men. I think it goes without saying that everyone without exception is welcome to post.

Delphiniumsblue · 05/10/2014 10:49

There are so many control freaks about! It is an Internet forum- free to all and better for it. I am sure that you no sooner get a group than someone says 'who can we exclude'!

Staywithme · 05/10/2014 10:49

Awesommmmeee! Nunsnet is REAL and run by twin nuns! Oh my dog! It's brilliant. I love them. Grin

DiaDuit · 05/10/2014 10:50

Oh i cant find nunsnet now Sad it was a few years ago i found it. Perhaps they became over run with priests and had to shut down. #whataboutthepriestz

DiaDuit · 05/10/2014 10:51

LiviaDruscillaAugusta · 05/10/2014 10:51

DiaDuit I just thankful that responsible people like you are out there, saving the world from complete anarchy! Grin

ExitPursuedByABear · 05/10/2014 10:52

I haven't a clue whether posters are men or women.

AuntieStella · 05/10/2014 10:52

The only nunsnet I found was a Sound of Music fan site.

There was a nastynunsnet, but I decided not to click.

DiaDuit · 05/10/2014 10:53

Just doing my duty as a 'title obeying' citizen.

I bet OP gets really confused in Subway

DiaDuit · 05/10/2014 10:57

Found it! Mar and Dar! How cute Grin

Topaz25 · 05/10/2014 10:58

Well I don't have children yet and I post on here because it covers a range of topics that are relevant to me, not just parenting topics. Is that "creepy" or would it only be "creepy" if I was male? Your attitude reminds me of the kind of people who don't think men should sit on a bench in a park near a child's play area. It's a public space. YABU.

DomiKatetrix · 05/10/2014 11:13

It's super creepy. I think in sign up, you should have to submit a picture of yourself with your flaps out. I do not volunteer to be the one who verifies the accounts Envy vom not envy

OP is very unreasonable. I love it when men post
