Well?

OP posts:

DeeeDeee yes I believe that the common weal will be very influential in the formation of the Scottish constitution.

deeedeee · 05/09/2014 17:38

Freddie, I've others say that. Are you in the north east? I've not noticed it here. The few no banners about are still about.

gussiegrips · 05/09/2014 17:39

I've read through the incredibly fast moving thread and want to flag up something said pages and pages ago.

Sorry, I can't recall who it was that said that Independence would be bad for women's issues.

The Scottish Parliament was set up with women in mind. There are fewer Scottish female MSPs now, but, at the beginning, there was about 40%. Which is fecking brilliant.

Also, HR has a free crèche, not for staff, but, to allow people with young dependents to go and participate in debates and meet with MSPs, or go for a quiet coffee. It's the only parliament in Europe to have this facility.

So, I'm sorry, I disagree, there is a focus on equality here.

It's not perfect, but, it's a start.

gussiegrips · 05/09/2014 17:40

Congrats to MN for getting the debate on Wednesday.

Fan-bloody-tastic.

When do I get to post my question?

deeedeee no we're further south, but I've heard the same thing from friends in Aberdeenshire. It's a shame, as it's no doubt just a few numpties, but it leaves a nasty taste,

gussie I agree the SP was set up with great ideals and a focus on equality. No argument with that. Just don't want to leave the UK Grin

A reasonable interest rate rise would be good for Scotland so I don't see how people are trying to spin that as a negative?
Scotland has comparatively low levels of personal debt. The mortgage debt in London (£395billion) dwarfs Scotland's (£64.3billion). Out interest rates are being kept artificially low to win votes in swing seats in the south of England. It doesn't suit the needs of Scotland.

weatherall · 05/09/2014 17:49

Lady C that's called cognitive dissonance.

deeedeee · 05/09/2014 17:50

I will lady c, i'm in edinburgh too. You're a despicable human being in someways, but I think you're probably quite nice. When you're not trolling and campaigning and that. I am too!

weatherall · 05/09/2014 17:53

Gussiegrips- holyrood will definitely get 50% women parliamentarians before Westminster, if Westminster ever does.

This is a really important part of why I'm yes. WM is so hostile for women. We have no chance there.

HR has a great track record with 'women's issues' from whoever has been in government. Eg the breastfeeding in public act and funding for violence against women services.

rose

A no vote is a vote for poor educational standards, a much deminished and impoverished NHS in a much poorer country where these things will not be prioritised over Cameron/Clegg/Miliband/Farage and their ilk trying to spend money to keep themselves at the top table internationally.

weatherall · 05/09/2014 17:57

Lady C there is nothing wrong with being wealthy but it is disingenuous to be wealthy but plead poverty.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 05/09/2014 17:58

I think you're fairly despicable too DeeDee. I'm sure you're lovely in real life!

Awww. This is how it should be

deeedeee · 05/09/2014 17:58

You're confusing me and weatherall again lady c! :-DGrin

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 05/09/2014 18:00

£80K a year is not super rich, not by a long shot. It is a salary that will give you a comfortable lifestyle, but super rich? Hysterical. Footballers on £100k week and movie stars on £1M+ a movie are on super rich salaries, not £80K a bloody year Hmm

I know, there seems to be a lot of veiled digs on this thread Itsall...

Hello again deedee. I see you're still pushing for higher interest rates.
Try asking if any of the following think it's not negative:

Anyone who has a mortgage to pay on their home, or is hoping to get one .
Anyone paying rent to a landlord who has a buy-to-let mortgage.
Anyone who has a credit card debt.
Anyone who has a variable rate loan to buy a car, or anything else.

I don't think they will be very happy with it.

Of course those 'wealthy' people you despise, if they haven't moved away to avoid your new punitive tax rates, will be delighted with the higher rates because they will be earning more interest on their savings and investments.

AIBU to wish I could just block the sharing of articles about the referendum on my FB feed? I am soo tired of scrolling past the articles and links posted. I could block the most persistent offenders but then I might miss some adorable photos of weans.
