Well?

Grin we're not alike atall! Weatherall finds facts and enters into debates . I can't be bothered as you're all doing enough of that, and it's the future!! There are no facts. I think I'm probably more irritating . Dunno maybe it's a close thing.

You all used to blend together but now I'm starting to tell you apart. I have little images and back stories in my head for you all

ChelsyHandy · 05/09/2014 18:12

I remember Weatherall saying something along the lines of "I approach earning that much (80k) some years myself".

What on earth does she do? Cooncil?

I remember having some discussions with several councils about my industry and how it would be affected by independence. Most councils, like Aberdeen for instance, were represented by sensible, well rehearsed people. There were a gang of 3 from the central belt/west of Glasgow who shocked everyone by saying hardline communist stuff like "You won't need private property in an independent Scotland" and "the rich deserved to suffer". They actually said that. There was a sort of shuffle of embarrassment all round and a quick silence, someone said "I don't think we need talk like that" and we quickly moved on. They were so unprofessional. It was astonishing. Like kids in a playground more than adults having discussions with business.

I think we have to question why we are producing so many people in Scotland who trot out this old fashioned ideology, and who are incapable or never educated to take a variety of viewpoints into account. It does seem to be quite common.

ChelsyHandy · 05/09/2014 18:13

How magnanimous of you!

I guess if Scotland does ever lose the queen as head of state, they will know where to turn for a replacement!

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 05/09/2014 18:17

A no vote is a vote for poor educational standards, a much deminished and impoverished NHS in a much poorer country where these things will not be prioritised over Cameron/Clegg/Miliband/Farage and their ilk trying to spend money to keep themselves at the top table internationally.

weatherall, I might be getting confused, but WHAT are you talking about!

these are all devolved powers already, and as I've detailed above, Holyrood has tax raising powers (OK, 3%, not much atm) and will have powers up to 10% of income tax after April 2016, and can spend it how they wish.

so even with a No vote, it will be up to them how much gets spent on NHS and education.

Yes I know the majority grant is lumped out by Westminster, but there is a lot of scope for more tax-raising powers independent of London.

IrnBruTheNoo · 05/09/2014 18:17

I suppose it's all relative. £80K to some families is like being a millionaire...

"will have powers up to 10% of income tax after April 2016, and can spend it how they wish."

Full powers 100% is best. Not 3% and not 10%. 100%. What's difficult to get about that?!

ChelsyHandy · 05/09/2014 18:21

IrnBru actually wrote: I remember the 2010/11 winter snow where the shelves were bare. I remember leaving a loaf of bread in case someone else needed it more than me. Chelsy, Ladycordeliaflyte et al would probably take that loaf and put it in their freezer.

Well I neither eat nor sleep (I drink blood, there are more than one of us around with a whiff of the night...). So your bread will be safe IrnBru. All you need is to get your little lad up from Yorkshire with his bike and someone to play a violin, and you will be set!

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 05/09/2014 18:22

IrnBru of course not difficult to understand wanting all the power.

I just believe on balance that complete independence has too many downsides for Scotland.

IrnBruTheNoo · 05/09/2014 18:22

Shite Chelsy, I did not write any such thing about the 2010/11 winter snow! It was actually another poster - I just commented on what she said.

grovel · 05/09/2014 18:23

deeedeee, go on tell me my back story. I can take it.

OP posts:
IrnBruTheNoo · 05/09/2014 18:24

I will scroll back to find out which poster it was so you can get your facts straight Chelsy....

Perihelion · 05/09/2014 18:25

But what's the point of being able to set income tax and and benefit levels, while the WM grant could be affected by such decisions?

IrnBruTheNoo · 05/09/2014 18:26

weatherall Fri 05-Sep-14 14:21:50

made the comment you accused me of writing.

Best to get your facts right next time Chelsy.

IrnBruTheNoo · 05/09/2014 18:26

Some folk on MN would have you hung!

ChelsyHandy · 05/09/2014 18:26

I must admit I'm struggling to imagine Weatherall earning 80k or similar. I do know some councils have "non-standard" employment practices, but she just comes across as so nasty. I can't imagine her fitting in in an office environment, and where else would you earn that much? She doesn't strike me as a consultant or surgeon or similar either. Could she be a builder? Or in a trade which earns a remarkably high turnover? Maybe she runs a business, and takes dividends of such an amount instead of investing it back in, so as to pay more tax?

I'm really disgusted by the vitriol that a woman earning 80k is getting from some on here. Plenty of men earn that much. But you have actually attacked a poster for doing well in her career, for working hard. I would hope that you would appreciate how much work that takes, and congratulate her, but instead there is this snivelly nasty comments.

LadyCordelia back to your cooker! Know your place! A woman earning 80k is NOT TO BE ALLOWED in the new Scotland!

weatherall · 05/09/2014 18:27

Whatwouldfreddiedo- the 2012 Scotland act will only increase the Scottish parliaments tax powers from 7% to 12%. If you could only control a tenth of your income would you be happy with that, if you could choose 100%?

IrnBruTheNoo · 05/09/2014 18:29

I'd rather choose 100% to control weatherall. How about you?

ChelsyHandy · 05/09/2014 18:29

My sincere apologies weatherall. I didn't scroll back enough, so many other posters requited it in astonishment that the original poster wasn't evident.

weatherall would of course collectivise the bread, hand it out in slices so that everyone went hungry, and shoot the farmer for being a landowner.

JimMurphysHump · 05/09/2014 18:30

Too fast here for me!

ChelsyHandy · 05/09/2014 18:30

I'm getting weatheall and IrnBru mixed up! And why is FannyFifer never around at the same time?

deeedeee · 05/09/2014 18:31

Maybe later grovel

Chelsy!!!!!!! Excellent!!!!

weatherall · 05/09/2014 18:32

Freddie- my post was a requote of one rose posted earlier (Salmond swapped for Cameron).

Sallyingforth · 05/09/2014 18:33

weatherall

You haven't explained yet why the people on my list would all be so pleased at your interest rate rise.

(apologies BTW to anyone with a bank overdraft, for leaving you off the list. I'm sure you will be thanking weatherall as well)

JimMurphysHump · 05/09/2014 18:33

Bloody hell, loads of nasty personal attacks around here. I thought we were all friends as of Saturday aka the night of the dirty pictures.
