To ask how much you've spent on school shoes this year?

I took DDs aged 10 and 6 for new shoes yesterday and it cost me EIGHTY TWO POUNDS.

DD1s were 42 and DD2s were 40! Since when did little kids' shoes cost 40 quid!?

I remember them being much less last year! Something like 28-35 pounds...am I imagining it or have shoes gone up a LOT!?

DS1 is 10, DS2 is 6 and DD is 5.

I spent £153 on 3 pairs of school shoes and 2 pairs of trainers. Have also bought DS1 rugby boots which were £20 - thankfully his trainers are still ok.

Ha! You got off lightly!!!

Ds1 were £110 (Very very hyper mobile, has to have boots to support his wobbly ankles)

Dd were £45

Ds2 were £48 (Also hyper mobile, but with considerably smaller feet than his big brother!)

Add in trainers each, wellies and plimsolls, I got no change from £260

Oh yes I haven't got their wellies for school yet, am hoping they also still fit.

Ds aged 13 got some Timberland shoes for £30, both girls aged 7 and 10 got Clarks shoes and I've no idea how much they were individually but both pairs together it came to £74. Expensive isn't it?!

I have one established teenager, one newly arrived in high school, and an overdraft.

Both my boys aged 9 and 7 have really wide feet so appalled to have spent £97 on new chool shoes yesterday! I know you can get cheaper ones but it's important to get properly fitted shoes. Crazy prices.

£15, took DS to Shoe Zone. But then I have a Cunning Plan to acquire him some better shoes very shortly (Shoe Zone are OK but generally you only get about a term's wear out of them, if that) so cheap shoes for the moment as he has wrecked his last pair.

Too much! DS 7's were £46 and DD 5's were £38 so £84 which is outrageous. I got DD's from clarks and got half a size up and hoping they last the school year like last year. I got DS Geox Savages again this year as they also lasted a whole school year. I would recommend them to anyone with a football crazy child, well worth the money.

Shogg are the shoes for wide feet more expensive? My DDs have wide feet.

£11 for school shoes. £2.50 for gutties for P.E.

about £150 for 4 children around £30-35 each.

£15 for DD and £3.15 for DS on ebay. Both very good brands (would have been £60+ each new) and never been worn. The people were selling them because their kids feet had grown before they had a chance to wear them.

About £140 on 2 pairs of shoes and 2 pairs of trainers!

We got married in June and the ds's both had new smart black shoes for that. They were only worn once and neither seem to have had a growth spurt as they still fit perfectly.

Usually I'd be spending about £40-£50 each on Clarks shoes.

I've learnt my lesson not to scrimp on school shoes. Last year ds1 had a pair of Clarks for £45, only because his feet are so wide I struggle to find him shoes. They lasted all year, were so sturdy, didn't wear out at all.

Ds2 is much easier to buy for though, so he had a pair from Brantano for £25. They lasted until Christmas and were fit for the bin. Then he had another pair for about £25...and needed yet another pair before July.

So in the long run buying more expensive shoes is well worth it IMO.

£156 for 4 pairs. Luckily DS1's DMs are still going strong so he didn't need a new pair.

Our school run is 3 miles every day and Clarks shoes usually last the whole year, so we'll worth the money.

160 quid 1 pair of Clarks school shoes and 3 pairs of sports shoes! I won't even go into how much the PE uniform cost this is a state school not private either.

£47, start rite pair from jones. I was going in prepared for battle over a pair of lelly kellies but it turns out they were only £33 but didn't have DD's size! These buggers better last a while!

Move to Secondary is going to be painful.

Winnebago - well I think if they have unusually wide feet they don't make as many so you end up with narrower choice / range. May be that they've seen me coming!!

Can't even get plimsolls my 9 year old is wearing size 4.5 - 5! So yeah I think you end up saying a premium.

DP handed over 88 for his DD's (11) and DS's (8) school shoes at Clarks. He also needed to buy indoor pumps for DS and trainers for PE for them both, so he won't be getting much change out of 170 - although he hasn't had to buy the trainers yet as last year's still fit, but probably not for much longer!

I think it's bloody awful! I might as well get them 2nd hand next time. I am not doing this again...I feel like a sucker!

The memo is Bunny that if you buy cheap shoes, they last a term at the most and you end up spending a lot more in the long run.

We have spent a grand total of £240 on footwear for our kids going back to school including a new pair of black shoes x4 and sports footwear x5 that's for 3 at primary and 1 at secondary.

I got Kickers boots on Amazon for £30, they do half sizes too
