I took DDs aged 10 and 6 for new shoes yesterday and it cost me EIGHTY TWO POUNDS.

DD1s were 42 and DD2s were 40! Since when did little kids' shoes cost 40 quid!?

I remember them being much less last year! Something like 28-35 pounds...am I imagining it or have shoes gone up a LOT!?

I went to a local children's clothes charity shop for a drop off in July and snapped up a pair of brand new Startrite black school shoes in DD1's size for £15. They are exactly what I would have paid full price for in the following weeks.

I also have a half size up free trial from Tesco pair for when she grows out of the Startrite shoes.

So this year I got off very lightly.

Mabelface · 02/09/2014 16:31

£107 for 3 pairs, and I think I got off likely. My boys are in men's sizes now. DD's children's ones were the most expensive out of the 3 pairs.

Mabelface · 02/09/2014 16:31

lightly

OublietteBravo · 02/09/2014 16:39

£34 on shoes (DD still fits the ones we bought her at Easter) and £45 on trainers (x2) and rugby boots (x1). However, I've spent £35 on socks (3 pairs for PE and 5 pairs for school - the latter priced at £4.99 per pair) which seems excessive.

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 02/09/2014 16:42

I spent £113 on school shoes for 3dc. That doesn't include trainers.

marymouse · 02/09/2014 17:02

ds5 £56 dd4 £45
All three dc's need general shoes too next week Sad

oneofthosedays · 02/09/2014 17:16

DD's waterproof geox biker style ankle boots were £75 - could have cried, but she wanted something warm, waterproof and fully enclosed - plus they go nice with jeans etc so will wear them outside school too.

Just before summer I also bought her 2 pairs of trainers, one in the sale at asda for £6 and a pair of animal skateboard trainers for £15 from tk maxx. She also needed new shoes for dancing - hard and soft shoe which should have been £120 for both full price but got nearly new on ebay for £35. £10 for clarkes pumps which will be handed down to ds eventually so don't mind paying the extra, never had much success with cheaper ones.

DS has gone for same style of geox he had last year (lasted the whole year) and they were £46. He's also had DD's pumps and 2 pairs of trainers handed down. Just needed rugby boots which I found for £12.50 from sports direct.

Not too bad all in all, I put £10 a month away for school shoes and bits of uniform so come july/Aug i don't end up breaking the bank getting all the new stuff.

Should be interesting next year with DD going up to high school - I dread to think what I'll be shelling out for!!

Ds's were £49

crazylady321 · 02/09/2014 17:32

Dont care if people look down their nose at me, I refuse to shop in Clarkes (bad experience in the past) and not much choice in my town so went to Asda as usual.

dd1s were about 15, my sons were 9 each (had the same pair last year and actually last quite well) and dd2s were 12 not bad eh?

PE trainers ive just sent there old trainers from here would rather buy new for at home rather than school, do spend alot on trainers though

The pumps I went to m&s for as everywhere elses just fall apart within weeks cost me 18 for 4 pairs

QueenTilly · 02/09/2014 17:48

Don't buy wellingtons new, use ebay!

Wellies aren't width-sized, so you don't need personalised fitting instore. Best kind of footwear to buy secondhand.

furcoatbigknickers · 02/09/2014 17:52

£50 for dd1 and dd2 from clarks outlet plus £25 on trainers and plimsoles

Dd3 £40 plus £38 trainers

And toddlers £32

furcoatbigknickers · 02/09/2014 17:52

£185?

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 02/09/2014 17:53

£48 on ds
£38 on dd1
£36 on dd2.

I'm yet to buy plimsolls as I have a sort through of trainers and soft shoes every year and see what can be passed down. Also ds wouldn't be seen dead in "prison pumps" (we even called them that at school almost 20 years ago :o).

Phantomteadrinker · 02/09/2014 17:57

£18 m&s. Usually buy m&s shoes for the kids. I thinks clarks are over priced (and ugly)

wigglesrock · 02/09/2014 18:16

16 pounds for dd1 and 12 for dd2, both Tescos. I only use supermarkets for school shoes, I sometimes have to replace them around March but I usually pick another pair up in the sale or 25% off in Sainsburys.

picnicbasketcase · 02/09/2014 18:20

12 - DD school shoes
9 - DD trainers
20 - DS school shoes
12 - DS trainers
20 - DS football boots

I think that's £73. Not that bad really.

supermariossister · 02/09/2014 18:24

I've done same as pp and bought new trainers for home the others can go to school

buggerthebotox · 02/09/2014 18:29

I got dd's from ebay. Clark's-grand total of a tenner! Feet haven't grown, though, so got off lightly this year.

Otherwise would cost 49-50 quid for a (very ordinary) pair of Clark's.

neversleepagain · 02/09/2014 19:44

£182 - 23 month old twins who have only been walking for 8 months!

Sallystyle · 02/09/2014 19:49

£250

For five children.

areyoubeingserviced · 02/09/2014 19:49

£65 for kickers for ds aged 8

Sallystyle · 02/09/2014 19:50

sorry, my maths was wrong

£200

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 02/09/2014 20:03

How come so many people have dc whose feet grow so much over the 6 week summer break?

Our ds's seem to need new shoes at random times during the year - when their feet grow! I buy new shoes then, not just for a new academic year.

So to answer OP, I think we spent £38 on ds1's at Easter and £23 on ds2's (Clarks outlet store) at Whitsun.

mamasilla · 02/09/2014 20:07

20£ max

mineofuselessinformation · 02/09/2014 20:18

New shoes, trainers and astro boots; £130! Dc has very narrow feet though.
