AIBU?

To ask how much you've spent on school shoes this year?

I took DDs aged 10 and 6 for new shoes yesterday and it cost me EIGHTY TWO POUNDS.

DD1s were 42 and DD2s were 40! Since when did little kids' shoes cost 40 quid!?

I remember them being much less last year! Something like 28-35 pounds...am I imagining it or have shoes gone up a LOT!?

I've spent nothing. No new shoes and no new clothes either.

I do however spend a decent amount on winter boots so prob £40-50 a pair, dd2 will prob get kickers and dd1 maybe Dr Martens.

£183.98 afforded us:

1 pair dm boots for ds aged 13 will last all year.
1x pair bottom end trainers £25, hope to last but probably will get lost, again!
1 pair dm shoes for dd aged 15 will last all year.
2 x pairs cheap school shoes for dd's aged 6 & 8 from Aldi!!!! £15. I give them u till Christmas.
1 x pair cheap trainers for PE £10.
Hand me down trainers for dd2 and a pair from last term for dd1.

I spent about £15 I think on shoes for DD at Sainsburys, not entirely sure as I just put them in with the rest of the uniform shop. She has had Sainsburys shoes in the past and they have been fantastic.
DS's shoes from last term still fit him and are in good condition so I haven't bothered to replace them. I am sure he will need new ones by half term as he seems to be starting on a growth spurt. I refuse to buy new shoes just because it is the start of term.

Luckily only needed for DD2 and 3 so spent £67 Shock
DS hasn't grown and DD1 is off to Uni so bought hers herself.

They are extortionate I know especially when they seem to grow out of them by Christmas

DS's are about £50 and DDs about £45.

DS's are Timberland Earthkeepers and last nearly the whole year of footballing and generally being a 9 year old boy so I don't mind spending that much.

Dd is 13 and has huge feet like me do have no choice!

Certainly, £32 :o

DD: Tesco shoes £10, pumps £4.
DS1: Tesco shoes £14, pumps £4.

Have just splashed out on a pair of trainers each, also Tesco, £5 each.

I'm seriously impressed with the Tesco school shoes, can't see my buying crappy Clarks with dolls in the heels again that scuff/fall apart/get holes in the soles when you actually use them for walking to and from school in.

3x school shoes 122
1pair indoor trainers 20
1pair daps 2

Ds2 is wearing ds1 old indoor trainers until payday.
Both ds still need outdoor trainers and possibly football/rugby boots so possibly another 130.
I so love this time of year!

About £100 altogether. That's shoes, trainers and hockey shoes. Would have been more but the trainers were 20% off.

I'm glad the extracurricular sport she does is Judo which doesn't require footwear! Grin

god bless my dainty footed eldest who is still in the same shoes this September as we bought last September.
Her younger sister (two years younger) is now only half a size smaller, so it's a matter of hot competition between them. More than wobbly teeth.

luckily, they're both really into gymnastics and you get to do t hat barefoot

£181 on 4DC (7yr old, 10 year old twins, 12 yr old). Four pairs of decent school shoes and one pair of trainers (luckily the other trainers still fit! ). Will be scrimping and saving for the rest of the month! Trying not to think about next summer when my twins will need new uniform and shoes for Secondary school - might start putting money aside for that now!!!!!

ds2 £30ish trainers from clarks and also clarks plimsolls. He does not need leather school shoes as they swap for plimsolls inside.

My DD has tiny narrow feet for a 7 year old, her shoes were £39!

I was pleased to find a pair that fitted in the first shop, so gladly paid it Wink

About £50 on a pair of Clark's school shoes and some Clarks daps. I wouldn't normally buy daps from Clarks, but DS has H width fitting and the £3 pair I bought from ebay last year wouldn't even go on his foot!

The girl that served us was very young. I asked why this pair (£46 look like black trainers) were so much more expensive that this pair (£30 smarter traditional pasty style) and she said, 'Because the £46 pair are more popular'. I was surprised by her honesty. Clarks will try and get away with anything. I absolutely HATE the ones with crappy little toys in the heel. They charge a tenner more, just because they know some parents will give into the whining and go for the more expensive pair to keep their children quiet.

35 on some hush puppies, and 1.99 on pumps, still need to buy wellies which will be around 25 so so 61.99 this term!

Not for school but £34 on DS shoes, he is not even 2 yet. I have just added it up and in less than 12 months I have spent £154 on 4 pairs shoes from Clarks, 2 pairs Croc-type shoes from Next, 1 pair wellies and 1 pair sandals. His feet are going to be like Hobbit feet soon!
