Do you shower every day?

The thread about taking an hour made me wonder.

In the morning I:

Clean teeth and listerine (10 mins)

Shower including hair wash with conditioner and shave legs and armpits every other day (10 mins)

Dry and straighten hair (10 mins)

Makeup, dress, earrings and other accessories (10 mins)

I can cut this down but I dawdle and make cups of tea, watch tv in between so yeah about an hour. But some people seem to just wash?

So what is the average?

I shower 4 times a day, like everyone else. I just literally can't believe you had to ask.

Thanks for sharing sweetkitty Smile

I shower nearly every day, wash if not. My hair only gets washed every three days or so though, washing it every day makes it really unmanageable. I use dry shampoo on the days I don't wash it.

It probably takes me half an hour to get myself and four month old DD ready (washed, dressed, makeup and hair for me). Add an extra half hour on to that for hair washing/drying/styling.

I used to take hours to get ready pre-baby!

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 26/08/2014 23:08

Would you tell a work colleague they smelled? I wouldn't but I'd want to heave whenever they got near me. There was a lady in Aldi the other day who really smelt awful and it kept wafting my way when I got near her

Sweetkitty for the love of God shower Wink

Genuinely don't understand how you can spend twenty minutes in the shower , what are you doing? I am in and out in about three minutes ten if shaving and hair washing.

whois · 26/08/2014 23:14

Sometimes I don't shower for a day. For example that might be showered at night on Monday so good for Tuesday at work. No sport and showered Wednesday morning before work.

I mainly shower once. Sometimes twice depending on sport or if I feel like I need a relax before bed. Sometimes that could even be three times but that's very very unusual.

Ibizatime · 26/08/2014 23:15

It takes 40 minutes to blow dry my thick hair :(

Washing body, washing hair, shaving, standing there and enjoying the hot water rush over you...?

rainbowinmyroom · 26/08/2014 23:16

I wash my hair every other day, but shower at night as care to sleep a few extra minutes.

wiltingfast · 26/08/2014 23:16

sweetkitty, anyone sticking their nose in your fanjo area won't care Grin

chumrun · 26/08/2014 23:17

I'm like a previous poster and have long hair and there is a LOT of it.
Takes ages to wash and rinse.

Then I am hairy. I have lots of lovely hair on my head but unfortunately am hairy everywhere else too. I need to shave every other day.

It takes an age to blow dry and straighten my hair.

If I had no hair life would be easy!

I have a colleague (in a diff department) who regularly has very bad BO. The worst thing is I work in a hospital and I cringe at the thought that his patients may well notice the smell! Not sure if anyone has ever said anything to him. He has a girlfriend who lives with him and it baffles me that she doesn't sort him out!

shggg245 · 26/08/2014 23:19

My senior once tasked me with taking someone to one side and telling her she had a hygiene issue. Apparently loads of people had complained. It was the shittiest hardest thing I've ever had to do.

I would smell if I didn't shower daily.

ColdTeaAgain · 26/08/2014 23:20

Awkwaaaaard!

Very cowardly of your boss to make you do it as well!

LLARGIES · 26/08/2014 23:20

I shower every day. I wash my hair one or twice a week. I shave every two weeks because I cannot be bothered. Brush my teeth every morning. I should do it every evening, but I'm lazy and I don't.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 26/08/2014 23:22

Wilting I've woken DS laughing at your post Grin

LuluJakey1 · 26/08/2014 23:24

I had to talk to a colleague about BO. Students had complained. I observed some lessons and it was dreadful.

Was direct but as kind as possible, did the 'I have been there and this is what worked for me' . Had bought her Mitchum deodorant and body spray.

Don't think she ever used it. Wasn't changing clothes. Was on temp contract and left. Was a lazy lump in all respects.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 26/08/2014 23:24

Llargies I used to brush morning only and I'm now paying for it for not flossing and brushing at night. Several fillings in the last few years. If you're only going to do it once a day, bedtime is best so there's not food rotting against your teeth all night. But you probably knew that so I'll stop lecturing you.

LLARGIES · 26/08/2014 23:28

Haha yes raths I know and I am just too lazy. I do floss and I'm always using a tooth pick and listerine. I do go through phases. I wish I could wash my hair every day but it's down to my waist and thick and takes about 30 mins to dry alone and even then it resembles basil brush tail end!

shggg245 · 26/08/2014 23:31

Yeah she left about a month later - I felt awful and although think I dealt with it as sensitively as one can - it was Sad

Boss was a cow bag. I'd hate to smell and would cringe if someone had to have that chat with me - as a result I'm totally paranoid about my breath, pits and bits smelling sweet!

500smiles · 26/08/2014 23:36

Shower every day, I can be up and out the door in 15 mins. Hair wash every other day, on those days it takes me 30 mins as drying my thick hair takes 15 mins.

On the odd time I've not showered I've felt minging and stinky.

sweetkitty · 26/08/2014 23:42

Wilting fast - the dog is always sticking her nose in my fanjo area, it's right at her nose line and her favourite past time is crotch sniffing.

Don't you get erm crusty downstairs if you don't wash everyday (I find a flannel wash not as good as a shower)

JulietBravoJuliet · 26/08/2014 23:43

I feel disgusting all day if I don't shower in the morning! I tend to wash my hair on days I'm at one of my jobs, but not when at the other, as I stink to high heaven of greasy food by the time I finish, so I'd rather shower again and wash hair when I get home. I have very thick, almost waist length hair, which, if left to dry naturally, takes bloody hours and leaves me looking like I've been dragged through several hedges backwards! Takes 20 mins to get dry enough with a hair dryer to look presentable, or 30-40 minutes to be properly dry.

My morning routine is: leap out of bed and chuck on yesterday's clothes as fast as possible so as I can take the puppy outside before he wees on the floor (doesn't matter whether I get up at 5am or 10am, he is instantly desperate the second he hears me move!), upstairs, pop kettle on and sort out dogs breakfasts, drink tea whilst they eat, then I have 15 minutes before the pup will need to poo, in which I sort out breakfast for ds, eat a banana myself, put a load of washing in etc. Pup goes outside again, then in his crate in my bedroom whilst I shower/clean teeth and ds eats breakfast. Give ds a shout to come and get dressed and do his teeth whilst I'm drying hair/dressing, then we are ready to go out with the dogs for their first walk.

All in all, takes about 40 mins from getting up to getting out the door if I'm not washing hair, and an hour if I am. Was a damn sight faster before I had the puppy mind, as big dog has zero interest in moving until I pick her lead up to go out for a walk, so could leave her eating breakfast whilst I showered, but I'm sure the pup will get there eventually! Will also be quicker when we move house, as will have an actual proper garden that I can boot them into, instead of having to wander up and down outside the front door with him on his lead, which requires dressing first!

Philoslothy · 26/08/2014 23:43

I shower twice a day most days, when I worked sometimes three times as I sometimes ran ti work and had a shower afterwards. Somedays I have a quick shower to wake up, one post morning exercise or cleaning out the animals and then in the evening.

sweetkitty · 26/08/2014 23:45

Oh and I've had slovenly long shower this evening, done my roots, eyebrows, face pack, nails hand and feet, eye gel I'm beautiful and glowing going to bed tonight, no itchy whiffyness here Grin
