Do you shower every day?

The thread about taking an hour made me wonder.

In the morning I:

Clean teeth and listerine (10 mins)

Shower including hair wash with conditioner and shave legs and armpits every other day (10 mins)

Dry and straighten hair (10 mins)

Makeup, dress, earrings and other accessories (10 mins)

I can cut this down but I dawdle and make cups of tea, watch tv in between so yeah about an hour. But some people seem to just wash?

So what is the average?

I shower three times a week after (running) when I also wash my hair.

I have a bath every night leaving it in for dh. I love my bath.

If you only shower in the morning, do you feel clean in bed?

Kim82 · 27/08/2014 08:19

Yes I shower every day.

5-10 mins in shower to wash and shave underarms. Wash my hair every other day.

2 mins to brush teeth

2 mins to get dressed

10 mins to dry hair (if washed)

2 mins for makeup if I can be bothered (moisturiser, powder, eye liner, mascara).

So 30 mins max to get ready for the day, 40 if dawdling or the kids want me for something.

MrsRonBurgundy

please consider donating your hair the the little proncess trust www.littleprincesses.org.uk

It depends on my health ad if I am working and how long my hair is.

I will have a bath or shower everyday. My hair is washed every day but if it is long I wash it in the evening not the morning as it can be difficult to dry on a morning (arthritis). The arthritis also dictates whether I have a bath or shower and whether I sit in a hot bath for 30 mins reading.

cleanse and tone, occasionally moisturise - 2 mins max

clothes - if I'm working take a bit longer if I'm not then I will probably just pull on jogging pants and a T shirt.

Make up - don't bother

teeth - 2 mins - my tooth brush has a timer

At the risk of being called skanky, no, i shower and wash hair every three days, and wash in the sink in between. I just don't find any more necessary or possible. If i had to shower every day i would never leave the house, or my toddler would kill the baby while i am in there! I find that it is a self perpetuating thing, esp with hair- the more often it gets washed the more it needs to be washed. I regularly get complimented on my hair, even when it is due a wash- if i washed it every day it would look like it needed a wash every evening, but now it is actually lovely until the third evening!

As someone who rides the bus believe me I know how hasn't showered in the morning..... Takes only 5 mins to gave a shower and 5 mins to dry hair using the towel method then quick blast from the hair dryer. As it's been so hot (what happened thus weekend to our weather) and my hair dryer explored into flames I managed 3 months just towel drying my hair. My purchased new hair dryer now in time for winter. Love the sun drying my hair....

KoalaDownUnder · 27/08/2014 08:35

Is it very common for people to have no shower in the UK still, only a bath?

I lived in a couple of share houses with only baths in London, back in the day. It was pretty grim when you're used to showering twice a day. Never felt really clean.

rainbowinmyroom · 27/08/2014 08:38

It take longer for many to make their hair presentable or even dry, rach, than a towel, five minutes and a 'quick blast' of a hair dryer.

londonrach · 27/08/2014 08:40

Koala more common to not have a bath just a shower. I wouldn't live in houses without a bath but in london a lot of rentals have ripped the bath out. Why bath is for relaxing with a book...

londonrach · 27/08/2014 08:41

Rainbow maybe I have easy hair...Grin

I take 45 minutes if I dry and curl my hair

20 minutes if I don't - my big standard day is 20 minutes as I go most places without drying my hair (shopping/ gardening - not work)

75 if I'm going out somewhere nice as I make more effort with make up

KoalaDownUnder · 27/08/2014 08:49

Ah, interesting! Completely the opposite here. I have never been in Australian house without a shower, but my current place doesn't have a bath. I can handle no bath, but I despised having no shower...ideally, I'd have both, though!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 27/08/2014 08:55

I can't stand having no shower either. I found it revolting having to wash my hair in the bath. I left a rental because the shower broke down but the landlord wouldn't fix it.

koala I think ranch probably has hair like mine. I just need to towel dry and then a quick blast and comb. I could even skip the blast as it's just to make sure my hair dries faster. My hair is completely straight basically. Same with my DD. I just comb hers every morning and it's a sleek little bob. But I understand not every one has hair like that so I won't suggest it's a 5 min job!

Every other day with a pits & parts wash in the interim is perfectly adequate, unless exercising or v hot weather.

Flingmoo · 27/08/2014 09:12

Seems like about 90% of people on this thread are showering at least once daily...

Makes me feel rather skanky - I'm in the 2-3 times per week camp... On the less frequent end of that ever since DS was born 12 weeks ago. I do wash l underarms and undercarriage twice a day though. My hair is really gross and greasy right now as have left it too long, can't always find the time these days. Sad

Having said that, if I washed my hair daily it'd look like a dried out haystack...

PenelopeGarciasCrazyHair · 27/08/2014 09:35

I usually have a shower or bath each day, but it might be in the morning on day 1 and the evening on day 2. I use baby wipes throughout the day to keep fresh down under too.

Dp regularly goes 2-3 days without a shower when he's not with me, but knows that a shower on each calendar day is necessary if he wants any. I do love a bit of 24 hour armpit, but any longer and it starts to get a bit ripe!

trufflesnout · 27/08/2014 09:36

I'm in the every 2-3 days camp too. If I'm not working or going out, it's sometimes weekly. I'm disabled and find lifting my arms to wash properly very tiring.

If your vagina is getting crusty, stinky, or into some other horrible state unless you shower daily, you might want to see your GP...

BucktoothedGirlinLuxembourg · 27/08/2014 09:37

Yes, I shower daily.

theDudesmummy · 27/08/2014 09:41

I bath every morning (except very occasionally on a weekend day if I am having a lazy day and going nowhere or have a hangover). I bath for exactly half an hour and read the newspaper on my Kindle in the bath. The half an hour in the bath is pretty much my only "me" time and I need it, and the reading, to start me up and get myself and my thoughts in gear for the day and for work. Wash hair and blowdry every second day, which takes about a further 15 minutes. Only shave in the summer.

Surfsup1 · 27/08/2014 09:50

Probably every other day on average. More than that and my skin gets too dry.
Probably a bit more often in Summer because I swim a fair bit, but then it's really just a quick rinse.
I never use soap (unless something is actually stuck my skin or something).
I can get ready in about 3 or 4 minutes unless I have to really think about and outfit and put on makeup etc which is generally a weekend-only thing.

Teawaster · 27/08/2014 09:59

Morning - Shower, dress, make up , cup of tea in 20 minutes.

Evening after run - shower, shave, wash and blo dry hair, pj's - 15 mins. Have short hair

19lottie82 · 27/08/2014 10:09

10 mins to brush your teeth and slosh about a bit of mouthwash?

I could be ready in 20 mins if I really rushed. 30 minutes is adequate.

Plateofcrumbs · 27/08/2014 10:16

Pre-PFB: leisurely shower daily, hair, choose clothes, do make-up, perfume etc about 30mins

Post-PFB: 5 mins to jump in shower, get half dry and throw on clothes whilst hoping DS's crying doesn't reach melt-down levels. And that's a good day - 48 hours in same clothes is a bad day.

TheBloodManCometh · 27/08/2014 10:21

If i'm working then i'll be up and out of the house in less than 1o mins. (teeth, loo, dressed out)
I'd rather have the sleep!
