Do you shower every day?

The thread about taking an hour made me wonder.

In the morning I:

Clean teeth and listerine (10 mins)

Shower including hair wash with conditioner and shave legs and armpits every other day (10 mins)

Dry and straighten hair (10 mins)

Makeup, dress, earrings and other accessories (10 mins)

I can cut this down but I dawdle and make cups of tea, watch tv in between so yeah about an hour. But some people seem to just wash?

So what is the average?

I take a shower morning and night every day.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 26/08/2014 22:13

I have super short hair, dries quick as a flash.

MrsRonBurgundy · 26/08/2014 22:14

I'm definitely looking forward to this short hair business. Every minute I can get off my routine is a minute extra in bed.

Janethegirl · 26/08/2014 22:14

I tend to dry my hair in the car on the way to work, adjust the vents so the blow in the right direction then finger dry when I remember. It works for me Smile

chumrun · 26/08/2014 22:15

I have long hair as well - unfortunately it really doesn't suit me short!

I shower every morning, mainly because I have curly hair that must at least get wet or it is quite mis-shaken. I condition hair, wash body and face, and can be done within a half-hour including facial regimen, teeth, contact lenses, moisturising and makeup.

Spotsonmydots · 26/08/2014 22:17

Absolutely shower. You can cut down on straightening hair/ make up?

Hakluyt · 26/08/2014 22:17

"I think showering daily is bad for your skin and for your health"

Why?

And why is washing better than showering?

Spotsonmydots · 26/08/2014 22:19

Also the earrings/other accessories and drying of hair - better to not blow dry!!!

Tikimon · 26/08/2014 22:19

You spend the same amount of time showering and brushing your teeth??

I shower everyday. Average time: 20 minutes, and then about 15 to do my hair, brush teeth, and get dressed for the day.

I am capable of taking a quick 5 minute shower if the need arises. I don't like doing it. I use the shower time as a way to zen and wake up in the morning.

Dubjackeen · 26/08/2014 22:19

Every Christmas, whether I need to, or not. Wink

Yes I shower every day.
Up at 6.45 and out of the house 7.25 including having breakfast.

However I don't normally put make-up on at home - if I put it on at all it tends to be on the train or at work.

OneSkinnyChip · 26/08/2014 22:21

Almost always, yes. Sometimes I even have a shower in the morning and one at night, depending how grimy I feel. The odd day I don't have time in the morning or evening and it's the following day. The thought of only showering once a week makes me feel Confused

Tikimon · 26/08/2014 22:22

Mrs - leave it in a towel as long as possible, towel dry, then turn head upside down and blast with the hairdryer.. 5 minutes drying time!

This. Put your hair in a towel twist as soon as you get out. When you're doing doing everything else take the towel off and your hair will be practically dry already.

I don't blow dry, I just let it air dry from that point. When I do, my hair gets its natural ringlets and slight curls that look good. :)

sweetkitty · 26/08/2014 22:22

Shower, dress, towel dry hair about 20 mins.

Come downstairs, let dog out for toilet, feed dog, tea, put on washing machine, unload dishwasher, make packed lunches/pack bags, wake DC x 4 and make them breakfast, help/nah them to get ready, tidy away breakfast things, take bins out/clean cats litter tray/scoop up dog poo.

Back upstairs dry hair, bit of make up and done, help/nag DC out of door for 8.35am.

I get up at 7 so an hour and 35 mins for all of this, just call me superwoman!!!

shggg245 · 26/08/2014 22:22

Shower first thing, wash hair every other day - 10 mins, full pot of coffee, telly, 20 mins hair, 10 mins make up, teeth and dress 10 mins.

Last 10 mins spent running around house like a mad thing trying to locate phone, keys and kids. Always takes me an hour due to wavy, frizzy and generally shit hair - always high maintenance regardless of style.

tittifilarious · 26/08/2014 22:23

Another tip for quick drying - use some kind of agent like Paul Mitchell Super skinny. Halves drying time.

NinjaPanda34 · 26/08/2014 22:24

How can you possibly get everything showered in 5 mins??? Genuinely asking, as I'm in about 20 mins minimum! Shampoo, conditioner, face wash, shave pits, shower gel, rinse off conditioner. Hair (long curly hair) takes 15 mins to dry and 10 mins to style. Think this may (!) :) change when the twins arrive!!

Shower every day, twice if I've been to the gym.

Takes me and hour and 15 to get up and out of the house.

Up, loo, start cleaning teeth.
Put kettle on whilst cleaning teeth, put water on fizzy vitamin tablet.
Back to bathroom, rinse.

Back to kitchen, pour water into coffee pot, drink vitamin.
Bathroom, shower: wash hair, apply conditioner, soap body, shave, rinse conditioner, wash face, apply body oil (15 mins in shower).

Bedroom, apply serum and moisturiser. Apply deodorant. Into kitchen.

Plunge coffee, add milk, eat two boiled eggs (do as job lot).

Slurp coffee.

Start make up. Full face (except eyeshadow). 15 or so minutes. Maybe 20.

Dry hair (15 mins. And it's short). Switch straighteners on.

Get dressed. Usually thought about the night before (all clothes ironed and in wardrobe).

Straighten hair.

Sort handbag / choose which one.

Empty coffee pot / dishwasher / reload.

Gather all belongings.

Leave house.

Hassled · 26/08/2014 22:26

I'm faster than a speeding bullet - probably 15 minutes to shower, including washing and conditioning hair, teeth, dressing and make-up. I don't dry my hair though - I tie it up and by the time I get to work it's dryish.

Nusalembongan · 26/08/2014 22:27

Oh tosh. I've never had a skin infection in my life and I'm a shower twice a day gal each and every day. I'm sure maybe some people are sensitive to certain soaps etc but most aren't . Tis just skanky quite frankly Grin!

Hakluyt · 26/08/2014 22:28

SugarSkully- evidence please.

Redhead11 · 26/08/2014 22:29

I shower, dress, so make up, put back on jewellery in about 20 minutes. I don't like to rush in the morning if i don't have to, so get up a bit earlier. I take about 30 seconds to blow dry my hair, as it is short, fine and thinning. I shower every day unless i am too ill to get out of bed, but to be honest, i think the last time that happened i was in hospital following an operation. If i've got particularly manky in the garden or its very hot, i will have a quick shower at night, but not generally wash my hair. I practically had to use a cattle prod to get the DCs into the shower at one point.
