To block this car in...

I'm at my mum's. she lives on a a fairly narrow hill, you can park on the road but it's best if you park half on the pavement. I'm going camping for the weekend with friends who are coming to pick me up in an hour. I've just popped to the shops for supplies of crisps and wine and some cheeky bugger has parked on my mum's drive.

I've text all my family and no one has any knowledge of this car. Would I be a total arse to just reverse onto the drive right upto their bumper and leave my car there for the weekend? I really don't want to leave my car half on the pavement for a whole weekend. A few of the NDNs have double buggies and there won't be enough room for them to pass. I also don't want to leave my shiny lovely car under the tree on the road cos it will be covered in bird poo and tree sap when I get back.

Mum is also away this weekend too so I can't even leave the keys. Grrrrrr.

What about just honking your car horn a stridently a few times and seeing if anyone surfaces? I would think it's pretty likely it's a visitor to one of the OP's mum's neighbours. No less bloody cheeky though.

DamonAllbran
"I fail to see how it could be illegal to block this car in as it's on private land & would be a civil, not criminal matter."

I think that it is something to do with deliberately depriving someone the use of their property.

(adding that I maybe incorrect)

AbbieHoffmansAfro · 15/08/2014 15:15

The neighbours have already been asked and denied all knowledge though I think.

Nobody google penguin bollards. They will haunt you forever. But if ever there was a need for them ....

DoubtfireDear · 15/08/2014 15:19

marking place.

havent read all replies but i would take a picture or at least a note of the numberplate incase you need to prove anything later. ie. damage to your mums property or your PNC.

StairsInTheNight · 15/08/2014 15:20

Block them in, make sure you take a picture of the car and numberplate before you do it though! Just in case..

StairsInTheNight · 15/08/2014 15:20

Jinx!

SirChenjin · 15/08/2014 15:23

Nobody google penguin bollards

Which of course translates to "google penguin bollards now!!". I like them - but why penguins, I wonder? Confused

naturalbaby · 15/08/2014 15:24
Confused Someone blocked my drive the other week but had gone while I took the dc's to holiday club. I was more unimpressed that they weren't around for me to give them a piece of my mind.

If it wasn't your pnc I'd block it in but what if they scratch your car?

Go to halford buy a wheel clamp instead Grin

Groovee · 15/08/2014 15:35

Ooooh can't wait to hear who the car belongs to.

Just marking place Smile

twizzleship · 15/08/2014 16:09

give it a good kick to set the alarm off...the owner will come running. if not, ring a tow company and leave a note explaining who they need to get in touch with to get it back.

notfromstepford · 15/08/2014 16:11

Marking my place for this one - want to see how it turns out!
