To block this car in...

I'm at my mum's. she lives on a a fairly narrow hill, you can park on the road but it's best if you park half on the pavement. I'm going camping for the weekend with friends who are coming to pick me up in an hour. I've just popped to the shops for supplies of crisps and wine and some cheeky bugger has parked on my mum's drive.

I've text all my family and no one has any knowledge of this car. Would I be a total arse to just reverse onto the drive right upto their bumper and leave my car there for the weekend? I really don't want to leave my car half on the pavement for a whole weekend. A few of the NDNs have double buggies and there won't be enough room for them to pass. I also don't want to leave my shiny lovely car under the tree on the road cos it will be covered in bird poo and tree sap when I get back.

Mum is also away this weekend too so I can't even leave the keys. Grrrrrr.

Could you perhaps smash the windows, phone the emergency police, tell them that you're witnessing a car thief breaking into a car, and then when they get there tell them he ran off? And then get the gen from them?

Or would that be really bad and probably a bit illegal?

ArethaFranklinstights · 15/08/2014 17:37

But WHO would do that? And why? And what will you say if you catch 'em?

londonrach · 15/08/2014 17:42

Only 15 mins to go till you leave. Op are you going to leave your car in front of alien car

GroupieGirl · 15/08/2014 17:42

Maybe it's a gift?! Have you checked to see if it's locked?

ArethaFranklinstights · 15/08/2014 17:42

I've just been to the offy.

Choccyjules · 15/08/2014 17:43

Late parker, sorry, marker....Wink

Fascinated to see who it belongs to.

lorriehearts · 15/08/2014 17:44

I've lost hours watching this thread. I've literally flopped around, pretending to do other things while refreshing this thread.

I underestimated the power of the parking thread, clearly. #suchafool

CalamityClara · 15/08/2014 17:44

Me too

BerylStreep · 15/08/2014 17:44

It could be stolen.

Any news from the police yet?

londonrach · 15/08/2014 17:45

If posh car is it belonging to someone famous like kermit the frog (might have had one glass too many whilst waiting)

StoorieHoose · 15/08/2014 17:45

You know you can't go camping now and leave us all here ????

Medibeagle · 15/08/2014 17:45

Its going to rain, better to go camping bright and early in the morning!

WeAreEternal · 15/08/2014 17:46

Oh I do love a good parking thread. Grin

My DBRO used to be friends with a boy who had a super expensive sports car which his parents bought him for his 18th birthday. (He was spoiled, entitled and an utter arse)

He used to refuse to park 'his baby' on the road, because he was convinced he and his car were far too good for it and someone may damage/crash into/try and steal his baby.
As a result every time he went anywhere that didn't have off street parking he would park in someone's drive or a private parking spot, he would even use disabled spaces regularly as he felt he and his car were important enought to be entitled to use them.
He received fined and parking tickets regularly but he didn't care, he just gave them to his parents to pay.

It makes my skin crawl just thinking about him, he was such an entitled prick.

onedev · 15/08/2014 17:47

I think given the length of time it's been parked there now, it's more mysterious than cheeky! What could be happening to make someone park a nice car on the wrong drive for hours?? Wonder if it is stolen??

ChelsyHandy · 15/08/2014 17:47

I blocked someone in once for about a day and a half, in similar circumstances. It was very effective, and they were very apologetic and never did it again.

londonrach · 15/08/2014 17:47

Def rain coming. Op you don't want to be in a soggy tent...

chinam · 15/08/2014 17:47

Good thinking Medibeagle

wanttosinglikemarycoughlan · 15/08/2014 17:48

Can you ring the police and say it has been abandoned - it may be stolen

PinkSquash · 15/08/2014 17:49

Have you checked the doors/windows are locked?

hamptoncourt · 15/08/2014 17:49

YES, YES, It's A gift!!!
