I'm at my mum's. she lives on a a fairly narrow hill, you can park on the road but it's best if you park half on the pavement. I'm going camping for the weekend with friends who are coming to pick me up in an hour. I've just popped to the shops for supplies of crisps and wine and some cheeky bugger has parked on my mum's drive.

I've text all my family and no one has any knowledge of this car. Would I be a total arse to just reverse onto the drive right upto their bumper and leave my car there for the weekend? I really don't want to leave my car half on the pavement for a whole weekend. A few of the NDNs have double buggies and there won't be enough room for them to pass. I also don't want to leave my shiny lovely car under the tree on the road cos it will be covered in bird poo and tree sap when I get back.

Mum is also away this weekend too so I can't even leave the keys. Grrrrrr.

Ooooh! Yes, please do. There's a post in the Brassneck thread here where someone threatened to do this. Would a neighbour accept your keys just for the weekend in case Mr car-cheekmaster returns?

You shouldn't park on the pavement. Why don't you just park on the road blocking it in, if you're that bothered (and I'd be tempted to do so too as it's fucking rude). You'd be risking more than tree sap if you put it on the pavement surely?

Block them in, as long as your mum.has spare keys to your car in case she needs to move it in an emergency.

I'd block them in. Someone has parked partly over my drive this morning; nobody knows who; I suspect someone at the school. I had to drive down the road, and turn round, so I could turn from the other side of the road. Not nearly as bad as yours, but I am Annoyed. And considering parking right up their arse.

Good point yegods. My patents park on their drive way and they park on my parents when away to make house look occupied. Check house not been broken into.

Oh yes, leave your car on your mum's drive, blocking it in. But before you do, check with your mum that she didn't tell someone she would be away for the weekend so they could use her drive to park there.

if you are sure it doesn't belong to a neighbour or friend of your mum who has permission to park there I'd call the police and get them to tow it .

Are you sure your mum has never offered her drive to neighbours as 'overflow parking' when they have visitors? Really, really sure?

Because our lovely neighbour did exactly this and I would have been spitting if someone did what your proposing when I'd got permission.

Yes block them in and also leave an invoice for renting the drive for the weekend.

True, we all use neighbours driveways when we know they are away. We like to, to avoid the houses looking empty.

If this isn't the case, then hell yes, block them in this is what I would like to do but probably wouldn't have the guts

Please do or else we won't get an exciting end to this thread.

Police won't do anything if it's on private land.

Block it in. As for "repercussions". Take a picture of the car before, and after you've blocked it in. If you come back and anythings amiss, you have the photos. If you want to gild the lilly, leave a note saying you've spoken to PC at your local station, and his number is and they can call him to sort it out.

You can always leave the keys with a neighbour in case of good reasons to be parked there.

I'd phone the police and get them to move it.

Someone blocked me in to a parking space once, it just happened to be at a place where there were lots of big men around, and they kind of bounced the car out of the way so I could get out. Any chance you could get people to help you do that.

WooWooOwl I don't think the police will move it -they don't police parking on private land. And certainly not within the hour she's got before her friends arrive.
