To block this car in...

I'm at my mum's. she lives on a a fairly narrow hill, you can park on the road but it's best if you park half on the pavement. I'm going camping for the weekend with friends who are coming to pick me up in an hour. I've just popped to the shops for supplies of crisps and wine and some cheeky bugger has parked on my mum's drive.

I've text all my family and no one has any knowledge of this car. Would I be a total arse to just reverse onto the drive right upto their bumper and leave my car there for the weekend? I really don't want to leave my car half on the pavement for a whole weekend. A few of the NDNs have double buggies and there won't be enough room for them to pass. I also don't want to leave my shiny lovely car under the tree on the road cos it will be covered in bird poo and tree sap when I get back.

Mum is also away this weekend too so I can't even leave the keys. Grrrrrr.

Block it in

HappyAgainOneDay · 15/08/2014 11:15

Ooooh! Yes, please do. There's a post in the Brassneck thread here where someone threatened to do this. Would a neighbour accept your keys just for the weekend in case Mr car-cheekmaster returns?

Give us some fun, OP .....

LRDtheFeministDragon · 15/08/2014 11:15

You shouldn't park on the pavement. Why don't you just park on the road blocking it in, if you're that bothered (and I'd be tempted to do so too as it's fucking rude). You'd be risking more than tree sap if you put it on the pavement surely?

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 15/08/2014 11:17

Block them in, as long as your mum.has spare keys to your car in case she needs to move it in an emergency.

londonrach · 15/08/2014 11:17

Phone police to get it removed if not block it in

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 15/08/2014 11:18

Just seen your mum is away too...keys left with a neighbour?

JenniferJo · 15/08/2014 11:19

Maybe your mum gave someone permission to park there while she was away?

KatoPotato · 15/08/2014 11:19

Block it in!!

But then you're leaving and won't be able to update us! Can you go and create your neighbour an MN account please?

This reminds me of my favourite thread ever with the car on the drive for parents night and the OP got flowers off the DH of the driver!

Stratter5 · 15/08/2014 11:19

I'd block them in. Someone has parked partly over my drive this morning; nobody knows who; I suspect someone at the school. I had to drive down the road, and turn round, so I could turn from the other side of the road. Not nearly as bad as yours, but I am Annoyed. And considering parking right up their arse.

sunbathe · 15/08/2014 11:20

Have you checked with the neighbours to see if it's a visitor's car?

KatoPotato · 15/08/2014 11:20

Have they parked right up the drive so much so that there's still room for another car? How cheeky!

londonrach · 15/08/2014 11:20

Good point yegods. My patents park on their drive way and they park on my parents when away to make house look occupied. Check house not been broken into.

Fairenuff · 15/08/2014 11:20

Oh yes, leave your car on your mum's drive, blocking it in. But before you do, check with your mum that she didn't tell someone she would be away for the weekend so they could use her drive to park there.

londonrach · 15/08/2014 11:21

The word neighbour us missing from my post twice...

ohfourfoxache · 15/08/2014 11:23

I'd love to block it in but I'd be nervous in case there were any repercussions Blush

Floralnomad · 15/08/2014 11:25

if you are sure it doesn't belong to a neighbour or friend of your mum who has permission to park there I'd call the police and get them to tow it .

BarbarianMum · 15/08/2014 11:27

Are you sure your mum has never offered her drive to neighbours as 'overflow parking' when they have visitors? Really, really sure?

Because our lovely neighbour did exactly this and I would have been spitting if someone did what your proposing when I'd got permission.

fedupandtired · 15/08/2014 11:29

Yes block them in and also leave an invoice for renting the drive for the weekend.

Bouttimeforwine · 15/08/2014 11:29

True, we all use neighbours driveways when we know they are away. We like to, to avoid the houses looking empty.

If this isn't the case, then hell yes, block them in this is what I would like to do but probably wouldn't have the guts

Please do or else we won't get an exciting end to this thread.

LurkingHusband · 15/08/2014 11:31

Police won't do anything if it's on private land.

Block it in. As for "repercussions". Take a picture of the car before, and after you've blocked it in. If you come back and anythings amiss, you have the photos. If you want to gild the lilly, leave a note saying you've spoken to PC at your local station, and his number is and they can call him to sort it out.

Bouttimeforwine · 15/08/2014 11:32

You can always leave the keys with a neighbour in case of good reasons to be parked there.

We want a good story please.

WooWooOwl · 15/08/2014 11:34

I'd phone the police and get them to move it.

Someone blocked me in to a parking space once, it just happened to be at a place where there were lots of big men around, and they kind of bounced the car out of the way so I could get out. Any chance you could get people to help you do that.

Imwoodword · 15/08/2014 11:36

Maybe someone who's got the wrong address? not place marking at all

CatsCantTwerk · 15/08/2014 11:39

I love a good parking thread.

BarbarianMum · 15/08/2014 11:40

WooWooOwl I don't think the police will move it -they don't police parking on private land. And certainly not within the hour she's got before her friends arrive.
