If I describe my job, could you tell me what you think my pay might be/what would be fair remuneration?

Highly specialised role within a not-for-profit sector
Most jobs in London/south of UK, so had to relocate to get into the industry
Required to travel overseas 4-6 times per year
Manage a small team, which is the department for the whole company
Present our product to international clients; most of our business is in Asia
High level of expertise and 8 years of experience in the industry
Take part in several senior committees within the company
Daily international meetings via conference
Originate, authorise, and sign contracts
Report on trends, achieve a set target revenue (increasing every year despite a difficult market)

High academic qualifications are required and many colleagues are Oxbridge/Ivy League educated.

And... out of curiosity, what is your profession and do you feel adequately compensated for your time?

Around £35k??? Really have no idea though.

nigerdelta · 24/07/2014 19:07

yeah, similar, maybe £15/hour, or £10/hour with performance bonuses.

upyourninja · 24/07/2014 19:08

Thanks for the guesses, keep them coming

Finola1step · 24/07/2014 19:08

45k?

Zephyroux · 24/07/2014 19:08

I would say around 30k.

Muskey · 24/07/2014 19:08

Having worked for a not for profit organisation I know they can be not good bosses and not very generous with the pay. I guess you are on £30k if you are in London and £25 outside. I do voluntary work but did use to work for a very large multinational company. When I left five years ago I was on £35k

CrumbsThatsQuick · 24/07/2014 19:09

Ha.

In oil industry sector, equivalent role would be £50 - 60k pa I reckon plus bonus/perks.

Elysianfields · 24/07/2014 19:09

I think based on what we pay in a similar not for profit sector, about £45-50k, with decent benefits.

FidelineAndBombazine · 24/07/2014 19:09

The notion that it is an NGO job is messing with my thinking...

jacks365 · 24/07/2014 19:10

Not for profit company? I would guess 25-30k unless wages have increased significantly since my bil left that sector.

CrumbsThatsQuick · 24/07/2014 19:10

elQuintoConyo · 24/07/2014 19:10

£6/hour?

No flipping clue! Why do you ask?

olaflikeswarmhugs · 24/07/2014 19:11

I'd say £35-50k depending on management structure and how far up the pay scale you are .

laza222 · 24/07/2014 19:11

I would say £35-£40k however if it was the same role in a private sector organisation then I'd think it would be more like £50k.

Eggsaregoodforyou · 24/07/2014 19:11

Am guessing higher tax band, if Oxbridge ivy league- ers are attracted then at least 50k ( would have guessed 109k but see it's not for profit).

I am a specialist Nurse with 18 years experience, additional quals, supervisory responsibilities etc. my whole time equivalent salary is £35k. Ok I suppose until you factor that I would need to earn twice that where I live to buy a house. Good job DP is a high earner!!!

Will you tell us what job u do and what u get paid?

Chumhum · 24/07/2014 19:11

60k?

60k?...

I am a social worker with a Master's degree and 21 years of experience. I do not get paid anywhere near what I should. I knew going into social services, the money and hours would be poor. I have only myself to blame..

QuaverQueen · 24/07/2014 19:13

£30K

upyourninja · 24/07/2014 19:14

I will tell you the industry and salary yes, just want a few guesses first. I won't say why just yet as it would probably give too much of a hint Smile

Not an NGO.

It's not terribly exciting or anything. I just want to see what people think my skills are worth.

DH has a similar role though manages a much larger team. £70-80k I'd guess.

upyourninja · 24/07/2014 19:16

Oh and I sign off on around 300 contracts a year. But they're mostly template so don't require more than basic legal confidence, but do require a comprehensive understanding of a tricky area.

OP posts:
Muskey · 24/07/2014 19:17

What you get and what you are worth are two very different things. I work for free so what does that say about me (smiley face)

Seriouslyffs · 24/07/2014 19:19

I think it's something to do with university courses overseas. Your university audits or certifies them and you get paid around £20,000.
Ridiculous isn't it.

Hellokittycat · 24/07/2014 19:19

About 35k I'd guess. Sounds similar spec to my previous job
