It is over 100 years since a national election has been won by a party other than the Conservatives and Labour.

What's more the UK Independence Party did it by winning seats not just in every region of England but in Wales and Scotland too!

UKIP opinions are the majority - FACT!

Not in London. I'm overjoyed about that!

WorraLiberty · 27/05/2014 12:10

As much as I think MN has far too many topics

I really wish there was a section for all this

UKIP threads are officially boring - FACT!

EasyCube · 27/05/2014 12:10

It wasn't a national election

Latara · 27/05/2014 12:11

YANBU to be overjoyed - obviously you support UKIP and you are entitled to feel how you wish.

YABU to think that UKIP opinions are in the majority when in fact there was only a 34% turnout to vote.

In my personal view I'm not overjoyed because I don't like 'UKIP opinions'.

growl3th · 27/05/2014 12:18

Well UKIP only polled 10% of a 30% turnout in Scotland so that's 3%. hardly speaks of great support.

UKIP aim to reverse the no smoking ban in pubs/restaurant, hold a referendum on fox hunting and possibly end paid maternity leave - glad you find that something to be overjoyed about....

squoosh · 27/05/2014 12:21

'UKIP opinions are the majority - FACT!'

Incorrect.

Now go bake yourself a cake.

wowfudge · 27/05/2014 12:22

I'm with tiggy - what % of the electorate voted OP?

Has anyone noticed that those who voted for the BNP last time appear to have switched to UKIP this time? Urgh.

wowfudge · 27/05/2014 12:24

Dropdead I did not know that - I did not feel the need to examine UKIP's policies in order to decide not to vote for Farago and his awful mates.

picnicbasketcase · 27/05/2014 12:25

I'm baffled that anyone would be delighted that hardly any of the country bothered to go and vote, thus enabling a bunch of people who don't want to be in Europe to gain admittance to the European Parliament. I have no idea why the idea of politicians being paid to abstain from the work they've been elected to do would be pleasing to you. But give yourself a massive pat on the back for thumbing your nose at the other parties. It'll really show them.

badtime · 27/05/2014 12:28

Majority = over 50%.

Where did over 50% of eligible voters vote for UKIP, OP?

YABU.

Dropdeadfred2 · 27/05/2014 12:29

picnic basket ...nor me personally. but for all those who decided to vote due to the one heavily publicised policy (or statements) re: immigration; they should look harder at some of the other rubbish they are suggesting too!

Dropdeadfred2 · 27/05/2014 12:30

sorry ...my last message was for wowfudge..

AutumnStar · 27/05/2014 12:31

This is obviously just goading.

UKIP opinions aren't the majority. That's just basic maths.

auntjane2 · 27/05/2014 12:31

UKIP has always struck me as a single issue party, about getting Britain out of EU. Of course they would fight for seats for MEPs, but they don't hold much of a presence in Westminster from elections just a few years ago. Why UKIP would even want to contest local elections on a policy of getting-Britain-out-of-EU beats me, unless, of course, they actually seriously mean to fulfil some of those other policies, including the utterly extreme ones. In which case, perhaps the rest of us should examine UKIP's manifesto very closely, and take it seriously - if only to oppose it and vote against UKIP.

wowfudge · 27/05/2014 12:32

I for one, am delighted I did not vote for UKIP.

They also admit they have achieved it through their own admission of appealing to the ignorant and under education electorates. Grin

BumWad · 27/05/2014 12:42

What's he betting the OP doesn't come back?

Aspiringhuman · 27/05/2014 12:44

I think it's terrifying. I don't want to be ruled by a party who endorse the view I deserved to be raped, who want women penalised in the workplace for getting pregnant, who spout racist clap trap.

tiggy is right. They'll be nowhere come the general election.

picnicbasketcase · 27/05/2014 12:50

God, I hope that's true.

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/05/2014 12:52

It wasn't a national election.

They are not the majority. Might want to brush up on your maths.

Nice one giving strength to the view that UKIP voters are stupid and ill informed though Smile
