It is over 100 years since a national election has been won by a party other than the Conservatives and Labour.

What's more the UK Independence Party did it by winning seats not just in every region of England but in Wales and Scotland too!

UKIP opinions are the majority - FACT!

gordyslovesheep · 27/05/2014 13:20

27% is also not a majority :)

herecomesthesunlala · 27/05/2014 13:20

will be back to this post later on, have a meeting now. Would be very interested to hear serious reasons why you did or did not vote, and why, in the meantime. But please, no name calling or insults, are we not all above that at our ages?

OP posts:
wafflyversatile · 27/05/2014 13:20

UKIP opinions are the majority - FACT

um, ukip got 27% in the EU elections. 73%, aka the majority, of voters did not vote for ukip.

Fram · 27/05/2014 13:20

Hahaha- it wasn't a national election.

27.5% isn't a majority in any way whatsoever, let alone when only a third of the electorate voted.

Have you just read a wikipedia article? Confused Or even worse, written it...? Shock

stealthsquiggle · 27/05/2014 13:21

OP is clearly goading, but I do sincerely hope that this result serves as a warning to all the normal sane individuals who didn't bother to vote.

If you don't use your vote, this is what happens Hmm.

squoosh · 27/05/2014 13:21

Yes stealth, the voter turnout was disgraceful.

WhereTheWildlingsAre · 27/05/2014 13:21

It's not nit picking its dealing basic facts and this sort of poor logic is the reason so many people have major misconceptions about the reality in this country today.

I've seen all sorts of bollocks present as fact on social media over the last couple of months...

Fram · 27/05/2014 13:22

Oh, and they will not poll more votes than the other parties in a general election.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 27/05/2014 13:27

This has reminded me of the great song BMovie by Gil Scott Heron about the "landslide" of Reagan being elected.
"Because it seems as though we've been convinced that 26% of the registered voters, not even 26% of the American people, but 26% of the registered voters form a mandate or a landslide. 21% voted for Skippy and 3, 4% voted for somebody else who might have been running."
Mandate my ass.

SqueezedMiddle · 27/05/2014 13:28

Always good to check your facts before you end a sentence with 'FACT!'

FACT!

ExcuseTypos · 27/05/2014 13:29

Are you from UKIP head office OP?

Aspiringhuman · 27/05/2014 13:34

One word brainwashing.

Being concerned about immigration is not racism but many of the things that are said in the name of UKIP are vile racist comments.

The way UKIP regard women is vile. I speak as someone with no plans to have more dc, as someone who is classed in the bottom 5% economically despite working 52 hrs per week (2 jobs). For a start I can never trust any politician who tells me and women like me that we deserved to be raped. I don't think I've been rude at all my opinion is as valid as anyone else's and I've every right to hate them as a party and based on their behaviour as individuals I hate some of them as individuals too.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 27/05/2014 13:35

I am overjoyed that I did not vote UKIP nor will I ever vote UKIP

FACT

Deverethemuzzler · 27/05/2014 13:39

MN is like the the BBC at the moment.
Giving far to much airspace to UKIP.

I am sick of it.

All the whinging about liberal leftie bias but lo and behold UKIP get more time and attention than any other party.

Stop gloating and show us all the miracles you are going to perform.

That should be interesting.

BaldricksTurnip · 27/05/2014 13:43

Anyone with a working brain cell did not vote UKIP in the election. FACT.

Fishstix · 27/05/2014 13:46

I voted because I consider it my civil duty to do so...but also to keep UKIP out at any cost. Will always vote for ANY other party than UKIP even if it means the continuation of UK.inc (ie LAB/CON) at colossal cost to the poor and huge benefit to the rich. Because anything, absolutely anything is preferable to that munch of racist, sexist idiots getting into power. The idea of a UKIP leadership genuinely scares me, and I'm a hard bastard.

Janethegirl · 27/05/2014 13:48

I am seroiusly hoping that all the posters complaining about UKIP actually got off their fat arses and voted last week. If you didn't vote, you obviously don't care which party is elected and as far as I'm concerned, you should stfu Grin

WhereTheWildlingsAre · 27/05/2014 13:51

my arse isn't particularly fat and I did vote Hmm

goshhhhhh · 27/05/2014 13:55

Do you think there is some weird UKIP thing to infiltrate mumsnet?

squoosh · 27/05/2014 13:56

People complaining about UKIP are most likely to be people who did vote. They vote because they care and they object to UKIP because they care.

MrsSkilly · 27/05/2014 13:59

I think you mean reducing, not scrapping, maternity pay? I think it's ridiculous how long women get off work paid for and agree that any company would be mad for employing a young single female knowing that she will cost a fortune in payments whilst on maternity - Dont you think the employer has some rights here and should be protected a bit?

WTF!

Janethegirl · 27/05/2014 14:00

If a few more people had voted, it may have diluted the UKIP effect though.

goshhhhhh · 27/05/2014 14:00

& I don't get how any woman could vote for a party that is supported by misogynists: who believe in cutting maternity pay & decriminilising rape within marriage...

IdkickJilliansAss · 27/05/2014 14:00

Aren't ukip disabilist as well?

AutumnStar · 27/05/2014 14:02

Hahaha. Yes, of course we shouldn't be employing young women. Get them back in the kitchen.
