Well if you know dogs, you will also understand foxes, so I can I suggest you do something more useful with your time than hunt sabbing?

Such as volunteering at a charity to rehome dogs, or volunteering your services to someone like my neighbour who is currently sitting up all night to protect his lambs. You could devise some method of safeguarding lambs from foxes in areas such as my neighbours where there is no hunt perhaps?

Hunt sabs can on occasions take things to far. That said, I don't blame them when you see what they are up against. You are more likely to end up in difficult situations . Consider being a hunt monitor instead.

Fwiw, I don't actually support fox hunting and neither so my IL's. When DH still lived at home he used to shoot them if he saw them.
However causing injury and upset to animals you are supposed to love (assuming you are an overall supporter of animal rights) is a bit odd.

Hunting with dogs is illegal, isn't it?

If you know of any hunts that are breaking this law, let the RSPCA or other similar organisations know so they can gather evidence and prosecute.

Whether posters used t olike hunting or not, it is now illegal to cause the death of the fox, so any participants deserve to be prosecuted and convicted of knowingly breaking the law.

Working hounds generally have an amazing life. Far more satisfying, natural and energetic than pet or show dogs.

If it's your concern for the hounds that makes you support the sabs then honestly, you are mistaken.

What if i don't like foxes being hunted at all? I have foxes visiting in my garden, i just oppose beautiful animals like this getting killed for no reason.

Btw, i did volunteer at RSPCA, but not anymore. See my earlier post.

I may have read it wrong but I think using dogs to flush out an Unidentified animal isn't covered by the act?
Presumably it's actually the killing of the animal that is illegal.

Report
cantbelievethisishppening · 18/05/2014 15:07

Only two hounds can be used to flush out a fox which is then shot. It is illegal for a pack of hounds to hunt down and kill quarry.

DogCalledRudis · 18/05/2014 15:14

I also oppose badger cull.

Have you ever seen the aftermath of a fox in a chicken coop?
Foxes kill for entertainment, all the chickens, not to eat, but for fun.

Gosh, I don't know OP. Problems, problems! You could educate yourself to world authority status and attempt to give guidance to the government? Start a petition to change the law (again)?

Can I ask if you particularly favour only beautiful foxes, and what happens to the mangy ones? What about less aesthetically pleasing animals, such as rats?

It must be difficult to live such a life of virtue tempered by evil all around you. Perhaps writing a thread about it on a Sunday afternoon might assist your anxt? In the meantime, I'm off to poo pick my horse's field and repair fencing.

elephant that old chestnut Hmm Every time I see that ridiculous 'fact' somewhere I want to stick pins in my eyes.

Hunters kill dogs when they are no longer hunting. It is a fact.

Owners of pet dogs kill their dogs. It is a fact.

Although most hounds will have had a far happier life than most pet dogs.

Why is anyone rising the the bait of this goady crap? Obviously there are going to be people who feel extremely strongly either way. If the op wants to get of her computer and go out with a bunch of world changers and use up her energy then who gives a shit because we know full well that a goady bun fight was the intention not a balanced debate. Do what you like op, nobody gives a tiny arse faced fuck.

Rats are very intelligent creatures. You treat them well, they'll be nice to you.

Do you have equally as well researched and evidence-based reasons for your stance on badger culling too?

Given that dogs aren't actually involved in that one?

Report
Ploppy16 · 18/05/2014 15:23

An anarchist wouldn't ask if they were U, they'd just do it. Just try not to injure animals you're supposed to love.
White rats are ok btw, the big bastard brown thing I saw in my old neighbours garden looked like something out of a James Herbert book..

A friend of mine had lengthy dealings with a case involving hunt saboteurs who operated by becoming hunt monitors. They kept strictly within the law but were stringent about reporting any breaches of the law on the part of hunters and preventing them from going on any land where they didn't have permission. The hunt absolutely hated it and spent a fortune trying to get an injunction against them, but lost on all counts and ended up having so spend another fortune refunding the monitors' costs. I reckon that's the way to deal with it.

Badger culling has no scientific evidence for it. It is just NFA wants it.
