I didn't know it was legal to hunt children!

Maybe I will buy me a horse and start hunting Smile

I don't see a problem with legal observers, as long as they don't try to take the law into their own hands and act as vigilantes, or try to incite incidents.

I wouldn't be happy with any of those women in that video coming anywhere near my horse. Horses are very sensitive, and I don't want someone shrieking and hysterical upsetting my horse. He has been around quiet, calm people all his life and while he'd probably cope with it, its not something I would willingly subject him to. I can't think people as overly sensitive and unable to process their emotions calmly would be any good around animals at all - how would they react in a crisis?

Well, farm has been farmed for the day and newts checked on (at 5am this morning - so I think I've earned a couple of hours off).

I have been catching up on this thread and I am not really surprised at any of it. There is so much misinformation, prejudice and assumption making going on it's no wonder that there is such confusion.

Dog You come across to me as a bit of an 'armchair warrior' who thinks she knows a bit about something but clearly knows very little indeed. However it would seem that you have already formed your opinion based on propaganda, assumptions and ignorance.

To compare children attending 'bloodsports' with smoking and viewing porn is just crazy, for a start the latter two are illegal. Further to that, children who attend such 'bloodsports' tend to have a better understanding about food and food production, the countryside and how to manage it to benefit both people and wildlife and they also tend to suffer less health problems as they are out in the open air more, getting some exercise. I would argue that taking children along to hunts and shoots is a very healthy thing to do.

Do yourself a favour and experience a hunt first hand as an impartial observer. Talk to them, find out what is happening and why , if you see anything that you don't understand or don't like then ask the relevant hunt staff about it afterwards. Check out their answers on google later on if you wish and arrive at a balanced , informed decision for yourself.

Of course if you are a total sheep and incapable of thinking for yourself then you will just swallow whatever drivel your fellow facebook brigade trot out but surely you've got more about you than that haven't you?

SelectAUserName
You mean, you're horrified by the number of people who don't agree with you that disrupting a usually-legal activity by often-illegal, violent and intimidating means is a hunky-dory choice of activity.

I think you need to back that up, Select. What evidence do you have for the often-illegal, violent and intimidating means that you are attributing to hunt sabs? There have been a number of successful prosecutions against hunt supporters/participators following the 2004 Hunting Act (some helped by footage from hunt sabs/observers). What figures do you have for successful prosecutions against hunt sabs?

maninawomansworld
Try telling that to the masked , hooded thugs 'animal rights' activists who I found milling around in front of my house at dusk a couple of years back (over a quarter of a mile from the nearest public road or footpath so no excusing them as 'lost' as they tried to with the police).
They were swiftly rounded up and one is currently serving 6 years inside for various offences including GBH and assault with a deadly weapon.

What group or organisation were they members of? Did the convictions relate to hunt sabbing?

Yes, like you accusing ThatBloodyWoman of intimiating people, damaging their property and breaking the law, all whilst wearing a balaclava, when none of those things were true.

You've also made incorrect (and absolute) assertions about hunt sabs (e.g. they are , without exception, lawless thugs who have no idea about foxes, hunting, the countryside or common decency to their fellow man.

Perhaps you'd like to take a look at this parliamentary debate, where Chis Williamson MP provides many examples of violence from those involved with the hunt:

www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201213/cmhansrd/cm130211/debtext/130211-0004.htm#13021151000002

Regarding the argument about finite resources, there are numerous different animal welfare organisations/charities supporting, and campaigning hard, for a broad range of animal welfare issues (e.g. animalaid) and alternatives to animal based research (e.g. Dr Hadwen's Trust). Trying to diminish one cause by saying funds are better spent elsewhere is not a strong argument; it comes across as little more than an attempt to distract from the issues under discussion.

The hunt hangers on.... Unpaid 'security'. Knuckle dragging Neanderthals. They often fight over whose turn it is with the brain cell. I have seen a higher level of intellect in a tomato.

Otis ferry anyone?? What a thug!
Used t have a friend who worked in a kennel. She was not against foxhunting but mentioned they requested they didn't feed the hounds for a day or so so they are hungry for the chase. Nice!
