Baby pics on FB

AIBU a friend mentioned to me the other day about how great it will be to put cute baby pics on fb once i have had a baby,but i turned around and said i wont be because it is wrong on so many levels IMHO and i (think) i would be too busy caring for baby doing the laundry for baby sterilising bottles etc to even sit down and finish an entire hot drink and watch 30 mins of tv if i did have spare time it would mean something needed doing and i wasnt doing it, plus i don't know what my facebook friends do in there spare time or what goes through their minds (if it was that easy to detect a pedo they wouldn't exist) even though my entire FB is privatised and i don't allow followers of people to find me in search engines someone could still hack my account for the heck of it and see pics of my PFB AIBU i'd rather keep my children off facebook and the internet until it their own choice whether or not they want to become a part of that at 16.

Also - babies sleep a lot. If you're lucky you'll get one like mine who would sleep anywhere. I had lots of free time in the baby phase

well if i put pic on the internet then pedophiles could see them and steal them and i dont truly know if any of my friends are pedophiles or not is what i meant by that reference they could get upto anything behind closed doors

I know people who prefer not to plaster their Facebook with their children's image and fair enough. I too think there may be issues of consent involved. Particuarly the more embarrassing photos, the kind that would be totally fine and adorable in a physical photo album, less so for those which are plastered over the Internet forever and a day.

But in reality, you probably are going to want to share the odd photo. Regardless of how busy you are, it takes mere seconds to take a photo and only a few more to upload it to the Internet.

I know what you mean, it's whether they can give consent to be plastered all over the internet vs should you give a shit about that.

I don't post pictures of my DDs on my fb page, I'm not sure why, it doesn't bother me when other people do, I just choose not to. I think maybe some of it is paranoia/lack of control over who sees them (my fb isn't particularly private), but this is t'internet we're talking about, it's not paranoia to think there are fucked up people out there.

I love the idea you have of what it's like to have a baby some of the time it can be like that, but a lot of the rest of it you can actually have a life of your own and the baby stage is over before you've realised.

why would you even want to though alisvolatpropiis thats what i don't get why not take a pic with a camera and take it to photo shop get it printed and put it in a nice album or a frame its so much more loving and personal that the internet which seems like a cold harsh place for pictures of sweet babies to be posted

One of the many benefits of breastfeeding is that you can do it no-handed whilst you upload pics to FB. The NHS should start marketing that as an incentive.

And I can see how that could be measured by the number of likes you get (especially if you're feeling low and wondering WTF you've got yourself in to).

I don't know op, the same reason people share photos of their dinner. People like to share. That's why social networking has been so successful.

Why would someone push a baby along in a pram on the outside where paedos might look at it and smile? Maybe my friends have got time to be pushing babies around paedos but I don't. If I've got any spare time from sterilising bottles or checking my cctv footage I wouldn't push a pram anywhere because of the paedos. I'd spend my time sewing balaclavas for the poor babies in Africa who can't afford cctv or live outside where the paedos are.

photo shops have self service machines i havent been served by a person in one in years and "likes" are pointless it just equals attention seeking IMO id rather have a nice phone call from DS or DH at work if i was feeling at a low point or have a snuggle and kiss with DC and tell myself everything will be ok and were just having a rough day i could never imagine myself putting DC down snapping a picture and putting it on facebook with some caption saying how difficult my baby is making my life what if they were to see it if they went on FB a few years later god knows what they would think of that

Errol, most people don't post their worst moments on FB, they save it for the smug happy events so that they can get lots of gushing praise for their DCs.
