To think that this is a strange combination for siblings' names?

And yes, I know it's none of my business blah blah blah. And for the record I do think that they are both lovely names, however...

A friend of a friend has a DD called Ava, and has just had a baby girl and called her Eva?

AIBU to think that that's practically like calling them both the same name? Plus it just sounds really twee.

I'm currently doing a family tree. There are several siblings with the same name! Very confusing!

laura2323 · 09/04/2014 18:58

My Aunty called her twins Sam and Ella. I shit you not. She didn't know why we laugh when she calls them over! But Ava and Eva, hmmmm, bit too similar for my liking.

chandlerbing · 09/04/2014 18:59

It's going to be a nightmare when they get to school and there's Ava Bloggs and Eva Bloggs LOL. They'll spend their whole school lives with everyone getting their names muddled up.

I am crying at Sam and Ella Grin

FrigginRexManningDay · 09/04/2014 19:00

Did you hear it or see it written down? My sisters dd is Aoife which is often mistaken for Eva.

LittleRedDinosaur · 09/04/2014 19:00

I used to know twins called Amelia and Emelia. Not joking. They sound exactly the same. Craziness.

chandlerbing · 09/04/2014 19:01

Yeah it's definitely Eva

OMG at Amelia and Emilia! That's bonkers!!

Ava and Eva, that will become confusing for the family!
Both lovely names though.

Dillydollydaydream · 09/04/2014 19:03

I know siblings Kia and
Kai. I thought my friend was having a bit of a joke when she posted on FB but nope, that's what she called them.

Bearbehind · 09/04/2014 19:05

I know a Maisie and Grace- makes me hum Amazing Grace every time I think of them.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 09/04/2014 19:08

I knew two sisters called Alice and Alex, short for Alexandra.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 09/04/2014 19:09

Oh yes, and Sophia and Lauren.

insanityscatching · 09/04/2014 19:13

My ds went to school with twins Caroline and Carolyn Hmm

pianodoodle · 09/04/2014 19:13

When I say them in my accent (N.Ireland) they sound even more similar!

jinglymum · 09/04/2014 19:14

I know a brother and sister called Sean and Sian! Madness

Oakmaiden · 09/04/2014 19:14

I used to know cousins - in the same class at school - both called Sam Bloggs... Although one was a boy and one a girl...

zeezeek · 09/04/2014 19:15

I've got a Summer who was actually born in Spring :-)

HolidayArmadillo · 09/04/2014 19:16

I know of a Mel and Melanie. Bonkers!

BumPotato · 09/04/2014 19:19

My kids have completely different names, but the short versions that family and friends use are very similar, think Lottie and Dotty. I'm forever getting the mixed up and it causes my toddler niece problems. She just calls both of them Lottiedotty.

WilsonFrickett · 09/04/2014 19:26

I never thought I'd beat the combo of Nicki, Vicki and Ricki (I used to go to school with Ricki) but Eva and Ava does it!

Arf at Maisie Grace too.

Lancelottie · 09/04/2014 19:28

I can offer you (from years back) sisters Elaine and Aileen.

Skylander1 · 09/04/2014 19:28

I know a Sam and Ella as well :)

peppinagiro · 09/04/2014 19:29

I knew twins called Rhian and Rhiannon. Honestly, put a bit more thought into it!

TheseAreTheJokesFolks · 09/04/2014 19:29

I know a Joanna and Jonah which for me is too similar but that said two of mine have alliterative names so who am I to judge? ;-)

CustardOmlet · 09/04/2014 19:30

I went to school with twins called Lee and Liam, doesn't look to bad, but bloody horrible when you say it fast!
