To think that this is a strange combination for siblings' names?

And yes, I know it's none of my business blah blah blah. And for the record I do think that they are both lovely names, however...

A friend of a friend has a DD called Ava, and has just had a baby girl and called her Eva?

AIBU to think that that's practically like calling them both the same name? Plus it just sounds really twee.

I knew a woman who had sons called Jonathan and Nathan.

Molivan · 09/04/2014 20:41

Not quite the same but I had a friend who had four siblings and all five of them had a first name and middle name beginning with the same letters. So, for instance, all five were J.A. Bloggs. When they were small it was fine, but she told me that when they all became adults it was a nightmare as so much official post would arrive to Ms J Bloggs or Mr JA Bloggs, from banks etc and no one knew whose letters were whose.

Laure and Laura, I thought the mum was joking..

happybubblebrain · 09/04/2014 20:45

I met a girl called Sophie Sophia.
First thought it was weird, then I thought it was quite cute.

JennyCalendar · 09/04/2014 20:46

I've changed the names to protect identities, but I once taught 3 sisters with the same start of their names and only slightly different endings. What made it more confusing was sisters 2&3 were identical twins!

They were along the lines of:
Pollyanna
Pollyenya
Pollyanya

I know a Nicholas and Nicole. They have an Adam in between them as their middle subbing, but still, so strange!

Sparklyboots · 09/04/2014 20:49

My half brothers are called Bill and Ben.

GreenLandsOfHome · 09/04/2014 20:49

A boy in ds2's class is William. His brother is called Kanye and his sister is Charmonique Hmm

That has always struck me as strange, that you would choose one quite classic name and two...not.

Driveway · 09/04/2014 20:49

Oops. Sibling. I didn't mean subbing.

GreenLandsOfHome · 09/04/2014 20:50

Oh, I also know someone with four girls who are Autumn, Summer, April and August. I actually love all of those names...just not together.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 09/04/2014 20:53

I grew up knowing Paul, Paula and Pauline - the girls were twins.

HerRoyalNotness · 09/04/2014 20:54

Oh so lots of Sam and Ellas then, I suppose it might not twig if you had the Ella first.

I went to school with an Andrea whose older sister was Angela, Ange and Andy.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 09/04/2014 20:58

I went to school with sisters called Jane and Jean and a friend of my mum had three children called Hayley, Lee & Leah.

Eva & Ava is especially odd though. It reminds me of Ricki Lake - she always seemed to have siblings with matching names on. Like Brandy & Shandy Confused.

whitepuddingsupper · 09/04/2014 20:58

I know siblings called Stephen and Stephanie, I did think their mum could have tried harder to think of a new name but it's not as bad as most of these.

Eminybob · 09/04/2014 21:00

I went to school with twins called Shona and sheena but sheena went by her middle name.

George Foreman (of the grills) has 7 children all called George, including the girls. Hmm

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 09/04/2014 21:01

And I'd forgotten my colleague who has Jayden & Jensen. And my friends DP who has a Jack & wants to call their new unborn boy Zac.

thegreylady · 09/04/2014 21:02

I have never met them to verify this however.
