To think that this is a strange combination for siblings' names?

And yes, I know it's none of my business blah blah blah. And for the record I do think that they are both lovely names, however...

A friend of a friend has a DD called Ava, and has just had a baby girl and called her Eva?

AIBU to think that that's practically like calling them both the same name? Plus it just sounds really twee.

My friend used to be a teacher in Brixton and she got a couple of new starters - twin sisters - and they were called Dolce and Gabbana! Why the fuck would you do that, seriously?!

Orangeisthenewbanana · 09/04/2014 20:23

I have the feminine version of a boys name my parents liked. No issue there, but DM has admitted if they'd had a boy after me, they would have used the boys name regardless - think Joseph & Josephine Hmm.

Thankfully I have a sister!

US Senator George Mitchell has children called Andrea and Andrew. I don't understand why you would do that. Ava and Eva is just silly.

Wishyouwould · 09/04/2014 20:25

A boy one of my colleagues taught was drawing out a family tree as part of a piece of autobiography writing. She said "oops, you've written Robert twice." His reply: "I know miss, I have two brothers called Robert." Grin

Cheesy Badger - Ethan and Bethany were the names we had picked out for dc1. She's a Bethany but we would prob consider Ethan again for next time, hope that doesn't make me too bonkers! I just like 'th' names.

When I was a kid we had next door neighbours who called their children Denis and Denise.

JulietBravoJuliet · 09/04/2014 20:37

My friend has got an Edward and a William - hadn't even thought of the Bill and Ted thing!

I know someone with an Alex and a Xander which are really just one name.

Also someone else with Ella, Elliott and Elena (surname also begins with an El sound!).

My grandma was called Maria, one of her daughters, my aunt, was called Marie (pronounced marry) and she called her daughter Marie (pronounced the traditional way). The post situation got interesting in their house Grin
