I can think of worse things to be honest.

I can think of worse parenting...

bluehearted · 21/03/2014 18:44

What about juice? My 1 year old ds only has water but that's his choice, we tried squash and he didn't like it.

This thread won't go well...

Abbierhodes · 21/03/2014 18:44

hold on while I get some popcorn to go with my bottle of coke

Latraviata · 21/03/2014 18:44

Here-have a medal Biscuit

noblegiraffe · 21/03/2014 18:44

Depends on if they'll drink water or milk.

DS was constipated because we couldn't get him to drink enough. Squash worked.

YouTheCat · 21/03/2014 18:44

Am I in the right thread for the Friday night bun fight? Grin

EnglishGirlApproximately · 21/03/2014 18:45

Why 3 specifically? Does something happen to magically protect their teeth at 3? Ds is 2 and has milk water and occasionally squash.
I must be a terrible parent Confused

Lottiedoubtie · 21/03/2014 18:45

Terrible? Really? Biscuit

CJCreggsfanclub · 21/03/2014 18:45

Oh bluehearted not juice... The horror

VelmaD · 21/03/2014 18:45

Really? Giving a two year old a drink of squash is terrible parenting?!

you are either incredibly niave or just starting a fight.

Forgettable · 21/03/2014 18:45

It's really not terrible parenting

Not ideal ofc but there ya go

TheScience · 21/03/2014 18:46

Coke isn't great, but occasional juice or squash isn't the end of the world. Some children don't drink enough milk or water.

MrsLion · 21/03/2014 18:46

Coke- YANBU.

"Anything other than milk or water is terrible parenting" YABU.

hairylittlegoblin · 21/03/2014 18:46

It is the most terrible, unforgivable parenting I can imagine. Coke? May as well inject heroin into their eyeballs.

HTH

AnnieIncognito · 21/03/2014 18:46

YABU to project your beliefs onto anyone. But, considering the fact that you already know that and the sole purpose of this thread was to wind people up and shame them regarding their parenting styles, you probably couldn't give two shiney shits about that.

My DS is 2 and in those two years has had breast milk, formula, rice milk, juice, chocolate milk and tea! Shock horror! Call social services immediately. Hmm

GimmeDaBoobehz · 21/03/2014 18:47

Nope.

Diluted juice is absolutely fine imho.

Nearly 1 year old DD has very diluted orange/apple/pear juice and I'm sure it doesn't do her any harm.

I think full fat milk is a lot worse imho it's sooo fatty!

Abbierhodes · 21/03/2014 18:47

I would like to put forward one theory though... I think that if you genuinely believe that a bit of squash for a toddler is 'terrible parenting', then you are likely to be extremely neurotic. Which does not create a good environment to raise a child. So I think you're much likely to be a bad parent than the one giving the squash.

MarthasHarbour · 21/03/2014 18:47

Yes yes I quite agree. This is why I didn't give DS beer until he was 3

JonSnowsPout · 21/03/2014 18:47

This mAkes me want to give my toddler a large redbull

CaptainHindsight · 21/03/2014 18:48

Everyone knows toddlers prefer the glass bottles you get on holiday.

Wtf were the parents thinking? A fucking can?

icanmakeyouicecream · 21/03/2014 18:48

Good luck OP

attheendoftheday · 21/03/2014 18:48

Meh.

Dd1 has squash. At 10 months she was hospitalized three times because of severe constipation and an impacted bowel. She was in a lot of pain. The medication she needed tasted bitter, so I gave it in squash. I would have given it in neat vodka if that would have reduced her pain and got her to poo.

She's had laxitives daily for 2 years in squash. And I couldn't give a monkeys if people judge about it.

AnnieIncognito · 21/03/2014 18:49

Martha My DH has already chosen DS's can of cider for his 3rd birthday. The anticipation is killing us! Grin
