To have just shouted at a horse rider outside my house

Have namechanged for privacy.

I am so angry right now. We sometimes (twice a year at most) get horses going past our house as we live around the corner from a small private farm. We live in a city, so it's quite a novelty when we hear the sound of "clip clop" outside.

About 20 mins ago we heard the sound of clip clop and I took DS to the front room to look outside. As we watched the horses go by one stopped and kind of turned around and SHITTED RIGHT OUTSIDE MY DRIVEWAY. Not a small bit...a big arse full of horse shit. And the rider laughed at her other horsey friends.

As soon as I saw it I put my shoes on and ran outside and the rider was going on her way again. Her friends had gone up ahead. I ran up to her shouting "excuse me" and she wouldn't stop. I shouted at her if she was going to clear up the horse poo outside my house and she replied "stop shouting at me" without even turning around to see I had a toddler in my arms.

I couldn't go any further because I was holding my DS and had left a sleeping baby inside.

Now I have a pile of horse shit outside my house, and I want to actually KILL this horse rider. Our road is a school route and I don't want children stepping in it but why the fuck should I have to clear it up? I am so pissed off. I want to get into the car and hunt down the fuckers and pull them back by their ears and tell them to clean it.

You want to kill a horse? Hmm

YABU.....it's not dog shit.

Shovel it up and put it on your roses.

CarolineKnappShappey · 04/03/2014 13:41

Sorry, I think you are being a bit U.

It really pisses me off too - why do dog owners have to pick it up, but it's alright for horseriders to leave a big steaming shit in the road, which my toddler often mistakes for a mole hill.

ClaimedByMe · 04/03/2014 13:42

calm down and have a Brew & Biscuit

GobbySadcase · 04/03/2014 13:42

Really?

Ooooooook.

smashedhen · 04/03/2014 13:42

This is a joke right? You shouted at someone on a horse, in a city?
Lucky her horse didn't bolt really...

AlpacaLypse · 04/03/2014 13:43

I vaguely expected something about a horse rearing and kicking, not this!

Bekindtoyourknees · 04/03/2014 13:43

How did you expect her to clean it up?

Lonecatwithkitten · 04/03/2014 13:43

I can understand why you fell fed up, but horse riders do not have to clear up after their horses.
Your roses really will benefit from it though.

FrankelInFoal · 04/03/2014 13:43

And how do you expect a horse rider to clean it up? They can't carry shovels around on their backs you know.

Horse manure is 100% natural material, unlike dog/cat poo which contains rotting meat, it won't kill anyone.

Binkyridesagain · 04/03/2014 13:43

YABU. How do you expect them to clean it up?

Your reaction is a little extreme so say the least.

GobbySadcase · 04/03/2014 13:44

Visualise I think your toddler playing in the road is more if a concern than horse shit.

MajorGrinch · 04/03/2014 13:45

Is it on a pavement or road? If it's a road it'll get run over & soon squish down, or someone will come & take it for their garden.

I'd have a cup of tea & chill, the poo will go but the horseriders will always smell like horses!!

RayPurchase · 04/03/2014 13:45

Yabu and bonkers.

TheTerribleBaroness · 04/03/2014 13:45

PM me your address. I'll be round with my shovel in a shot. Free fertiliser!

Burren · 04/03/2014 13:45

It wouldn't bother me massively - useful for the garden, and nowhere near as disgusting and omnipresent as the dung of anything carnivorous. It would be more of an issue for me if it was every five seconds, though - but then I assume you should talk to the farm, rather than individual riders. Would it ever be practicable for a rider to carry a whacking great bag and shovel behind their saddle, anyway?

I get a lot of cowshit on the lane outside our place.

Has to be a joke. Made me laugh, anyway!
What do you think horse dung is going to do to you? Great for the garden, not toxic in the way dog/cat/fox is..... Just relax!

Sangelina · 04/03/2014 13:45

What a stupid thing to do. The horse could have reared or bolted, causing injury to the rider, you or your toddler. Well thought through.

jonicomelately · 04/03/2014 13:45

Sorry, but I think you overreacted. Horse manure is not dangerous to health in the way that dog muck is. If that had happened outside my house, I'd have shovelled it up and put it on my plants.

procrastinatingagain · 04/03/2014 13:46

I quite like the smell of horse shit. Is that weird?

MajorGrinch · 04/03/2014 13:46

Horse manure is 100% natural material,

As is all shit Hmm...

Still not desirable. I think horse nappies should be mandatory....

Wantsunshine · 04/03/2014 13:46

Oh no poor you. As you say this could happen 1 whole other time this year if another horse clip clops down your road and needs to shit in the exact location. You should call the council and request an ASBO or you may even need to sell your house.
You must be very bored today.
