To have just shouted at a horse rider outside my house

Have namechanged for privacy.

I am so angry right now. We sometimes (twice a year at most) get horses going past our house as we live around the corner from a small private farm. We live in a city, so it's quite a novelty when we hear the sound of "clip clop" outside.

About 20 mins ago we heard the sound of clip clop and I took DS to the front room to look outside. As we watched the horses go by one stopped and kind of turned around and SHITTED RIGHT OUTSIDE MY DRIVEWAY. Not a small bit...a big arse full of horse shit. And the rider laughed at her other horsey friends.

As soon as I saw it I put my shoes on and ran outside and the rider was going on her way again. Her friends had gone up ahead. I ran up to her shouting "excuse me" and she wouldn't stop. I shouted at her if she was going to clear up the horse poo outside my house and she replied "stop shouting at me" without even turning around to see I had a toddler in my arms.

I couldn't go any further because I was holding my DS and had left a sleeping baby inside.

Now I have a pile of horse shit outside my house, and I want to actually KILL this horse rider. Our road is a school route and I don't want children stepping in it but why the fuck should I have to clear it up? I am so pissed off. I want to get into the car and hunt down the fuckers and pull them back by their ears and tell them to clean it.

Did the horse wash its hooves afterwards?

mum2bubble · 04/03/2014 14:17

I'd be chuffed if I got a free pile of manure delivered to my house. Perfect for the garden. And it is dangerous to run behind a horse shouting, you put yourself, your DS and the rider at risk - I'm sorry , but YABU.

PooroldJumbo · 04/03/2014 14:17

Meditrina I always try to use indoor language! Love your imagination.

DarylDixonsDarlin · 04/03/2014 14:18

So none of you would mind if a vegan human walked past and shat outside your house then? Confused cos their shit is pure? Lol wtf!

OP i can see how you would be annoyed surely you should have name changed to BigBrownBall instead but you appear to have dealt with this badly.

I believe the saying you need is 'shit happens'. Either clean it up yourself, or leave it, but forget about it and move on!

VisualiseAHorse · 04/03/2014 14:18

Waaah, my NC won't work!

Troglodad · 04/03/2014 14:18

Horse manure isn't even offensive smelling, and it's fairly dubious whether it constitutes much of a health hazard, for reasons people already mentioned.

Also, notice how when you picture a horse rider, they do not have a massive sack full of manure in a trailer, a shovel over their shoulder, and an entourage of cleaners polishing the road behind them.

I think the OP is just unused to horses, like some kind of country type who's never seen a tube before and shouts at it for being noisy :) - an apology would be in order, although most likely they will avoid your house in future for fear of you causing an accident.

roadwalker · 04/03/2014 14:18

Where I live the gardeners would be fighting over it
Folk pay good money for horse crap, get it on to ebay

I'd love it if horses went past my house, but we live in a cul de sac :-/
If you only get horses past your house max twice a year OP I think you're being a bit precious about it all.
As everyone else sensible has said, scoop it up and dig it into your flower bed, then have a cuppa.

sonlypuppyfat · 04/03/2014 14:18

Yes horses should be banned from built up areas they are a PITA play with your pet in a big field.

dappleton · 04/03/2014 14:19

YABU - however your absurd reaction to this situation has made me cry with laughter, so thank you for that. Even though on a serious note your reactions were dangerous and I'd not have been impressed if I was the rider of the horse.

OnlyLovers · 04/03/2014 14:19

Daryl, look for grownoutofglitter's concise explanation upthread of why that's not a particularly strong comparison.

NigellasDealer · 04/03/2014 14:19

ummm it is not really in the same league though is it DDD?

Daisyjane12 · 04/03/2014 14:19

Why would it matter to the rider that you had a toddler in your arms? Yabu

BigRedBall · 04/03/2014 14:21

All of you saying its a "gift":

No. No it's not. I don't particularly want a gift pushed out of the rectal cavity of a horse. I like my gifts wrapped in pretty paper and ribbons and not left to Rot infront of my house.

But anyway. Seems I'm being very U. What do you know...

Anyone seen that great story book 'The mole who knew it was none of his business?'

Brilliant, google it, one of our all time funniest books

(it is about animal shit, although the word shit/pooh never mentioned once)

BigRedBall · 04/03/2014 14:23

I DO NOT have roses. Why is everyone telling me to put them on my roses?!

Only1scoop · 04/03/2014 14:23

Do you feel a bit daft now running out there now....or are you still fuming? Grin

NigellasDealer · 04/03/2014 14:23

well you said you did like the novelty of the clip clop of hooves, and you wanted your child to enjoy that......
what do you know? horses shit! incredible!

WillieWaggledagger · 04/03/2014 14:24

i love it when horses go past my house. makes me want to go out and sniff them, they smell heavenly. when i lived in london it was lovely to see the gorgeous horses with the mounted police go down the road

GandalfsBeard · 04/03/2014 14:24

Don't ever move to the country!
I could understand your rage if it was a steaming pile of dog muck, now that is disgusting. But horse poo is nothing like dog poo. And shouting at a rider on a horse is dangerous.
So yabu. Very.

WillieWaggledagger · 04/03/2014 14:24

yes steppemum that was a favourite of my brother's!

Troglodad · 04/03/2014 14:26

...and one more thing (haha):

Their "not stopping", and likely not responding at great length if at all, was probably due to them concentrating on the horse being in control when somebody was running around the road shouting at it. You owe them a thank you for their presence of mind in safeguarding you and your child.

Owllady · 04/03/2014 14:27

The joy of witnessing a horse in your street followed by the utter rage when it does something horse like
YOu are bonkers you know

Thumbwitch · 04/03/2014 14:27

What a load of old crap!

Yes YABU.
